Great experience. Did the Ojai trip with family. We did 2-3s up and 5s down and had battery left. The bikes were easy to use and adjust. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Looking forward to doing again for sure!

Very poor customer service. The clerk, Michael, who was running the kiosk basically ignored us. We waited for at least 10 minutes while he situated another customer without him acknowledging us standing there or letting us know he would be with us, saying hello, anything. Although he did manage to walk in front of us and clean off his computer screen. We were willing to pay for a half day even though we were only going to keep the bike for 3 hours.but he was adamantly refusing to negotiate and did so in a very snide manner. Go to Ventura Bike Depot. Better service. Friendlier Clerks!

We rented the e-bikes on their website a head of time, and we were given a 15% discount for booking ahead. That was an unexpected surprise. We arrived on-time and had to pay $10 to park at the state beach parking lot. I know there are other parking areas, but the State Park is the closest place to park.
We reserved the bikes for 4 hours and rode the Fat Tire E-bikes.

After studying the map to Carpentaria, we were off. I won't lie, it has been a long time since we have been on bikes and even with the large seats, it was quickly noted how sore my butt was going to be after the 34 mile round trip.
It is 17 miles each way if you make it to Carpentaria State Beach Park. We took about 2 hours to reach Carpentaria. It was a little sketchy driving a bike on the freeway, but it is only a tiny bit. Going north, you enter the freeway at Bates Rd, and you must exit the freeway at Rincon Road. The map directions are good. Just be aware that you don't have much time in Carpentaria. We were hoping we'd have time to each lunch. Unless you make really good time riding back. It took us 1.5 hours to ride back, which was 30 minutes quicker than the ride north. It was a nice ride. I would like to do it again, but I would not go all the way to Carpentaria. I would find a nice spot to enjoy the beach, water, and sand. Overall, I am very glad we did this. We made it all the way -34 miles round trip. It was well worth the cost and the time spent together.

My ebike was in the shop for an extended time and was getting withdrawls so rented from here. MAJOR DISAPOINTMENT. They have modified all their ebikes to only 1 power which SURE was not very fast! Bikes were old, slow, klunkers. Maybe if someone has never ridden an ebike- these might be satisfactory for an hour or 2.

Don’t. Rent. Here.

Rented 10 e-bikes. When I made the reservation I had a very nice, straightforward game plan. We were looking forward to this being the highlight of our weekend.

10 of us took the bike trail to Ojai. One got a flat while staying on the trail the entire time. We were offered zero help or assistance by the attendant. Being Sunday, no one at the main office answered or returned our many calls for help. We were told that we need to return the bike and it was on us to figure out the details.

We were stunned by the response. We are from out of town, don’t know the area, and don’t have the supplies to replace a tire.
Being stranded on the venture bike trail felt unsafe with its remoteness.

Very curious what the follow up will be on Monday. Hoping to report back a refund and our towing and repair expenses reimbursed.

Update. 1

AAA won’t pick up your bike.
Uber and Lyft can’t be guaranteed to be big enough to fit a bike.
Bus could be an option if you’re close enough to a stop.
Possibly police non-emergency could help.

Update. 2

We ditched the bike on the trail and Carlos (operations assistant who refused to speak with me on the phone) managed to figure out a way to get fetch the bike. We were told he’s very passionate about e-bikes (but not his stranded customers).

Update 3. Monday May 22

No response from the company so far.

Update 4. Carlos was as helpful as he could be. Directed me to director of operation, Mike.
Mike has been a dead end. He’s dragging this out and refusing any negotiation or refund. Their offer is to refund two bikes. The day was an utter disaster and it’s shocking how much this company simply does not care.
