Whiskeytown Marinas, LLC - Oak Bottom Campground - Marina & Brandy Creek Marina reviews
16Unfortunately, I had to revise my previous review from 11 months ago from 5 stars down to 2. Apparently there is new management, and they made our stay last week very uncomfortable. Being their only guest, I was surprised when the intimidating manager lady aggressively knocked on our window early the next morning and barked at us like she was a police officer evicting the homeless. Despite our tag in the front window showing proof that we paid. We arrived after dark and had parked in the wrong spot (we had parked there previous) and hadn't set up our tent (late, tired) and slept in our van. There are ways of enforcing the rules without being inhospitable. (We were the only ones there!? !?) Office kid was unhelpful and untrained for common questions. Will not be back. 2 stars is generous but it is still beautiful there.
They wouldn't let me choose whichever boat I wanted. I saw so many boats that weren't being used, but they told me they'd call the police if I used one. Will never visit again.
No BBQ'S, NO alcohol, don't think about lighting a joint you'll go to jail. $35.00 a night to pitch a tent. Better to drive out into wilderness!
My favorite place to launch my paddle boards. You can get to any end of the lake rather quickly. Many coves to hang out in.
It's very very beautiful here it's got a perfect swimming area for little ones seniors people with disabilities and they have warm showers that you can pay minimal amount for magnificent campgrounds it's pretty quiet and it's just very serene.
Great place to launch and recover the kayak. Lots of great coves to paddle around and a beautiful trip up to the car powerhouse.
Nice Marina, but nothing fancy. Cool that they offer rentals, but they're expensive.
The area used to be nice before the fires, but now it's all burnt out.
It's great for small kids. Easy Shallow for days. Water is warmer than other parts, has outdoor shower with multiple highths of heads, at times has lowner kids life vest rack.
Cons: Very little shade and we arrived on an extremely hot day. No shelter from the sun so bring more than one canopy for shade if you're coming as a family of 3 or more.your coolers, food, and space for everyone to hide under will be grateful. I think I went home 4 shades darker after 3 days and 2 nights. The camp sites are hilly and slopes, you'll be lucky to find 1 spot that is flat enough for 1+ tent. Super rocky where we were so don't forget your mats and airbeds.
Pros: Overall it's a great place for water activities, camping, and still having shower stalls around. We brought our own kayaks therefore we were able to maximize our experience. If it weren't for the ability to get in the water, kayak, swim.many of us would have just been in a bad mood. The heat made us all moody but getting in the lake to cool down really helped. Staff were friendly and helpful and checked on sites frequently which made us feel safe and welcomed. They went as far as re-opening the shower stalls at night after it had already closed down. We were very grateful they opened the showers for us because we really needed some sort of creature comfort after being in the heat all day. Some park rangers & security can be very rude and stand offish, but not Oak Bottom Marina staff. If only there were more shade and water spouts close to campsites I would have given this place 5 stars.
Not at all relaxing if you enjoy peace.
Huge subwoofers all day and all night.
Not family friendly.
I love camping here. They have spots right on the lake that have access to the water and it's beautiful. It's clean, it's quiet, and some of the spots are pretty good sized too!
Lots of camping spaces, some are very close to the water. Some sites have shade, some are mostly open, which can be hard on hot sunny days.
Keep my boat here year round love that the lake is full all summer. Great place for family and kids
This review is for the office staff: stellar! They were incredibly friendly, kind and helpful when we needed it most.
Barely even a walk from the parking lot to the sand! That's why this is the best beach on Whiskeytown Lake
The wife and I have been there twice this year. The launch is great. People are friendly for the most part. Very injoyable.
