This used to be such a beautiful place to camp and enjoy but the last 2 times I went it was very dangerous! The road is disintegrating from the rain and snow melt, and there are fallen trees everywhere! You can’t even get through the road anymore: , (

It's too dangerous here. Dead trees all over forest service should be ashamed to let hazards snowball to these levels. Recall McCarthy

CAMPGROUND IS CLOSED AS OF 4/18/21! I am giving this campground 4 stars because, though it was closed, we camped nearby just up the road and then walked through this campground on a hike. There must have been a major treefall in the last year or so because the place was covered in fallen trees. It looked like the structures for the pit toilets were still standing so that was good, but the place was a mess and it looked like cleanup has been a slow process. It’s also a 45-minute, harrowing drive up the mountain when coming from Posey, so we were pretty bummed when we got all the way up there only to find the camp closed.

That said, giving this spot at least 4 stars because it looks like it’d be a dope camping spot. There’s a nice creek that runs in the back of it, lots of really old trees and it’s very quiet. Very few cars came by during our one night stay up the road.

Once this place gets cleaned up, there will be lots of good times ahead (and probably a lot of firewood!)

It is a great campground and perfect for hunting and hiking.
There are bathrooms and tables there and a really cool waterfall not far from the bridge if you come up through Pine Flat, which also has a great general store and is only about 15-20min away.

My friends have a cabin just down the road at White River Summer homes Tract. So I have stayed here when the cabin was too full. It's a very nice campground. White River is right there. And a nice little water fall very close by. Will go back again.
Just remember to pick up all your trash and stuff. There are no little trash ferries that come and clean up after you. Always try to leave it cleaner than when you got it.
