Whittier Museum reviews
11What a gem! If you are into history this is must visit! Lots of interesting local pieces and even a mini Nixon museum. Stand outs were definitely the military patch collection and the displaced headstones from 2 abandoned cemeteries. Admission is free, donations are welcome. There is also a small gift shop. This is great to visit after Pio Pico's on Whittier Blvd.
Did not even know that it was there. Very nice place to visit. Great place to take school age kids to learn about local history.
Ok! YOU HAVE TO STOP BY and catch an EvEnT there then wander around the little exhibits GREAT! Then just wander around Uptown!
Very interesting the history. You can spend as much time as you want. The placards will provide more information on the subjects, thus making the visit longer. I enjoyed the art show upstairs, of "metal man" figures.
It's never open when I try to visit. I even called the last time and they said they were opened. I show up 30 mins later, and they're closed. I'll update when I can actually go inside
A pleasant discovery. Nice to see what the original Whittier was like. Interesting film about the old Fred C. Nelles reform school.
Walked in Young kid mopping the floor in hallway near entrance. Greeter came out after we stood there trying to figure out how to get to restrooms. Not a good time to mop hallways to public restrooms when your bringing in 75 yrs old MOMS. Greeter not good management
I love how the city of Whittier was first founded by the Quakers, and learning the history facts about President Richard Nixon.
A museum that instills a personal experience of what it was like to live in Whittier a century of more ago - a quiet oasis with marvelous memories instilled in the carefully kept items. Free admission and free parking on the street!
Before starting your exploration around Whittier and its surrounding areas, it’s a good idea to learn as much as possible about the city and its history. The best way to do that is with a visit to the Whittier Museum.
This museum is run by the Whittier Historical Society to collect, preserve, and share the city’s history.
During a visit, you’ll see many exhibits, including a Victorian Cottage from the early years of the 20th century, a display showcasing the life of Richard Nixon, and a blacksmith shop.
