Wicked Chicken, San Diego CA

This place has potential. They did an excellent job with the remodel. The interior is very nice, very clean, and the decor doesn't skew toward "cheap. " The staff was very nice, and the food was good, however I only ordered a 4 chicken tender combo (at least I thought I ordered 4. Came with 5) so I can't judge the wings. For 17.40 you get an enormous amount of fries, and I've never seen chicken tenders so big. The price seems high, but this will seriously be dinner tonight, plus lunch and dinner tomorrow. It's a pity this place seems a little empty. These folks will need to promote themselves pretty proactively to draw customers to this part of town. Looks like they have "sports bar" aspirations. Perhaps a viewing event of some sort.

Love the steak fries and the service. Management and server were very accommodating. Everybody seemed to love the food. The Liquid Candy beer was so good!

The chicken tenders are SO good l. I normally like skinny fries so wasn’t sure I’d like the Texas style fat ones but they were amazing too! Great customer service and the manager was super nice.
I will definitely be a regular!

The owner was very gracious. Staff was service oriented. I had left behind personal items and they held the for me. Very cool.

I love this place! They serve real chicken tenders and all the sauces are bomb. Ashari is my go to girl! She always has a great attitude and so do the owners! Love the beers they have on tap and last but not least they are dog friendly thanks for being awesome all around guys!

I really want to stay positive here becuas this is a new small buisness. Anyways. Payed $18 for a wicked frys with chicken. Also I have to wait about 40 minutes for it. Was honestly disappointed. A few hours later i got the worst food poisoning.

Dog friendly. They have the best spicy chicken sandwich in downtown. Large portions too. Ashari and Kellan were great!

Wicked chicken was delicious! The flavor of the sauce was very unique and I want to try more sauces. The portions are generous and the meat was so tender and juicy. They have a variety of sauces. I ordered the traditional death sauce. I didn't think it was spicy at all, but still flavorful. If you like heat, I would start at Thermo. The customer service was great as well. Andrew C was an outstanding ad he made this experience a pleasant one. I can't wait to come back. Eat up!

Great service and, explanation of the menu items and sauce tony Ashari, are super helpful and very nice and made me feel so welcomed this is my new favorite spot!

This place wasn't what we had in mind when we left the Padre game, but I'm glad we found it! I don't know for sure, but I have a feeling that the guy who took our orders and served us our food was the owner. He took his time in finding out what 3 indecisive women wanted, then he was artistically creative when ringing up our orders as just 2 fancy combo meals with a pitcher of beer, instead of 3 different orders of "I want this bird I don't want that"
Did I mention. A pitcher of beer? ! They also have soft drinks.
Tater tots are one of my favorite things, and they have great tots, and large servings!
The curly fries were pretty good too, (I'm not a curly fry connoisseur).
I had a wicked chicken wrap, and I was very happy! It comes with lettuce, tomato, avocado, bacon, cheese, ranch, and grilled or fried chicken tenders. I asked for no cheese and light on the lettuce. And it was great!
My friend ordered the 3 piece tender with tots and it was more than she could handle, even with me dippin' in her tots! And my other friend had the curly fries, and she was happy.
It seemed a little pricey, but everything is pricey these days, and this is a downtown location with downtown people looking for a good meal before or after a game!

Finally downtown San Diego has a great wing spot! Opened a couple months ago on 9th and G St. (Across from where Target is going in) Wicked Chicken is what we needed downtown. Great flavors, wide variety of spicy levels for wings, their chicken sandwiches were absolutely delicious (and super filling), their staff and service was on point, super courteous/friendly and their beer selection was very very impressive! Stoked to have this place in East Village. I have a feeling will be turning into a sweet neighborhood bar!

Woohoo! Excellent new chicken place in East Village! Everyone working there was so friendly and engaging. You start by ordered at the counter, taking a seat and they'll bring out your order when ready. We sat at the bar as we were thirsty for beer, crazy good taps by the way. Best way to get to know a place is sitting at the bar and chatting up whoever is helping you (provided they aren't too busy). We learned about their other locations, sauces, preparations, etc, a whole wealth of information.

When it came to ordering we tried their onion rings (bomb), chicken wings, chicken sandwiches and fries. All really yummy with the exception of the sandwiches. They tasted well but since they use breast meat were kind of on the dry side. However their wings hit just right and with so many different sauce options you're going to fall in love with one them.

One of the neat things about this location is that it sits right across from the soon to be opened neighborhood Target store. Chicken wings, beer and shopping, yes please!

Alex was an awesome server! Wings and tots were great! Suggest the Thermo sauce if you like it a little hotter.

Don’t go here. $15 for a chicken sandwich? $10 for 3 strips (no side or drink) ? That’s criminal. A chicken shop just opened by petco that gives you 3 strips, a side, a drink for less than $10

These prices are outrageous

I came here with my father when he was visiting from Michigan to try the ‘new chicken place that just opened up’. Embarrassing response from the owner.

I am very excited Wicked Chicken has opened their doors downtown. It is a welcome and much needed revitalization for the neighborhood!

I ordered four chicken tenders tossed in the "traditional death" sauce, with a side of fries. The food is great, hot and freshly prepared! I like the open kitchen concept. The tenders are quite large and meaty, so 4 was almost too much for me. Probably double the size of a Cane's chicken finger.

The cashier was very nice and went through the menu options with me. He also recommended his favorite sauce, and it was really tasty!

Had a cool chat with a higher-up who happened to be working on site when I was there. Nice to see someone who's grounded and willing to give some of his time to an excited customer!

I'm excited y'all are here and have high hopes for your success!

I am certainly going to return. Don't listen to the bad reviews. Come see for yourself.
