Wild Onion Bistro and Bar, Palo Alto CA

Love this place for a nice breakfast. I live in the area and come by frequently when I have time for a sit down meal.

We stayed at Hotel Citrine for two nights and ate here for dinner and breakfast. Unfortunately, I did not capture photos of breakfast as we were rushing to the game. Cristina and Louisa were both outstanding! The food was delicious. Highly recommend the Dirty Wagu Burger and fries. My partner had that for dinner both nights. The salmon and Ceasar salad were both good as well. If staying in the area, recommend trying the restaurant out. Several people came in for take-out, and the service is fast.

We had a mixed experience at the Wild Onion Bistro And Bar. Some of the servers were knowledgeable and helpful, while others were not. The kitchen did generally decent work, and the menu offers some inventive takes on traditional comfort American food. While the atmosphere is generally pleasant, during your visit the fireplace was permanently turned off, and our request to sit outside was denied.

The nicest thing is the decor - recently decorated, tropical plants. It was nice that it was quiet but that should have been a sign. The food was ok but I wished that my breakfast bowl wasn't mixed - there were hot ingredients mixed in with cold shredded lettuce and it would have been more appetizing if it was presented unmixed. The service was friendly but slow considering there were so few customers. We were seated for 10 minutes before getting menus or water, and it took at least as long again to place our orders.

Complimentary valet parking was very nice!

The latte was not hot and foamy, and seemed like cold milk mixed with coffee powder. The pancake had a hair in it, though they refunded that dish. They also forgot our appetizer orders. And a whooping 22% service charge. Totally not worth the price.

Vegan bahn mi came on sandwich bread instead of a baguette and had a mountain of mayo. It wasn’t great.

To meet a family member staying at AC Hotel, we chose to have dinner at this restaurant for convenience. 3 adults and 2 kids under 11. A service charge of 22% was automatically added to the check for "big" party. There were less than 5 tables including us. Well, we were the biggest party there indeed. Anyway, make sure to look the check/bill BEFORE you give your credit card. The detailed/itemized check would be taken away when you are give the merchant copy for signature with the Tip left blank.

The service was so slow. When we asked the waiter for something, he said "No English" with really odd body language and walked away. I was very very puzzled about this no-English experience because most of restaurant workers would still try to understand or communicate to customers. In addition, he spoke perfect English when greeting us and serving the food. So we were literally in shock when we heard him say no English.

The food was not special at all. The (small) steak was over cooked for medium. For the over priced but average quality of food, I wish I had taken my family to somewhere else. Maybe their bar is a different story, but I definitely won't go back for their food.

Very good place to have a good breakfast. The salmon omelette is great. Also the service was very good. Very friendly people.

19 dollars for a shrimp "scampi" and this is what you get. What a joke. Not to mention 45 min wait for it.

After a $90 lunch for two during a work day yesterday I got food poisoning and was sick most of the afternoon. I ordered the Poke Bowl. Service was good but the quality clearly wasn't. Would never go back.

We stayed at the hotel and came here around 3p for bites / drinks. Unfortunately we had a pretty poor experience. There was an eaten lamb bone on the floor next to us… then we found a small bug in the salad. I think this is normal sometimes with fresh/local lettuce but still not great. And then the fried chicken had blood spots in the inside and parts of it were really dark brown. The service was okay, only the salad was comped. No big deal but one other suggestion would be to add a tequila and/or mezcal cocktail to the menu - thought it was interesting that they didn’t have any.

Pretty disappointed overall as we were looking forward to trying this place and going back for breakfast, but will not return now. Otherwise, the hotel/decor is super nice/new and hotel staff are friendly.

After 15 mins of waiting, I have yet been seated. The dining area is 2/3 empty. The owner and the staff pretended they did not see the waiting line and didn’t want to bother to greet the guests. The problem is not the wait but the attitude and management. Completely lack of service mentality.

I’m not sure what this was, but it can’t be called Eggs Benedict.
The toast I got was burnt badly.
The shrimp pasta Sausalito only had the asparagus stalks.

Breakfast/ brunch menu serves until 11am daily. The breakfast is very good amount and delicious.

Surprising for a hotel restaurant, but this place is great. I've made my way through most of thr menu and have not been disappointed. The crudo is a must, and so are thr lentil fritters. Thr steak is cooked over charcoal and has legit backyard barbecue flavor. Services is great too - while sometimes they get overwhelmed, they are always nice and polite. Will go back.

Outdoor dining available in an area by the pool with a few small tables, one large long table (seats 8 to 10), one 4-person table and a fire pit with a few Adirondack chairs around. The one big umbrella they had was broken so no covered area in case you need that.

Had brunch there and the food was surprisingly good, coffee was great (both brewed and latte), servers were attentive and friendly.

High chair available, no kids menu though for brunch. Hotel parking is valet only, so we parked a little further away on the street.

Beautiful venue for our large 15 person lunch. Worked with us in advance to ensure it was smooth and fit our event schedule.

We were staying at the AC Hotel and wanted something easy and close. This did not disappoint! My wife and I were both very pleasantly surprised. We ordered the chicken sandwich (so good) and the gem salad with chicken. Everything was prepared perfectly and was really tasty. If you’re in the area and want something simple and delicious give it a try!

This place had delicious breakfast! The service was quick and the servers were friendly and attentive. The breakfast burrito was yummy and the classic breakfast was simple but well done. My wife and I will definitely be coming back.
