William B Pond Clay Banks reviews
14Nice place for kids to play in fairly safe shallow water pouring over sandstone humps, with enough room for picnics on the banks. Look for the photos with the orange humps and water since many photos here are of the bike bridge or the large pond downstream.
In an hour along the American River trail i saw dozens of woodpeckers, both redtail and red shoulder hawks, herons, a coyote, rabbits, a herd of deer, grouse, and many others!
There are well defined trails, signage, bathrooms, handicap accessible fishing, picnic tables, trash cans, gazebos, tons of parking and, much more.
Whether you're looking for a walk, bike ride, or just to picnic with your family and play in the park, this is a lovely corridor where humans can enjoy living alongside the other residents and commuters. Around dawn and just before sunset are the best times for bird and wildlife viewing.
I loved hanging around this spot. What a great spot to see a lot of birds.and even saw a bobcat
.
Long a**line to pay for parking. The (1) machine so slow too. Plus the lane to get in a small. Everyone was parking to pay, in the entry drive, but since it took so long, it was as I'd there was only one lane to get in and out.
I launched here and paddled around a few days ago before it rained
Nice calm water even with the wind
Only 1 other vessel
Water is low due to the drought, however the water is still clear and cool. Young families were playing in the pools of running water. Wading in the water myself was quite refreshing.
I loved this place! Very clean, animal, family and racial friendly! Restrooms, peaceful, quiet and respectful!
One of the most beautiful places to be. Parking fee is $5 and may increase on special holidays. They have 2 sets of bathrooms and some porta potty, nice bike and walking trail also a dirt trail that leads you to many river access points. The clay banks are of the course the most popular but take some time to walk around and you'd be surprise by all the places you can find. We also like to bring our boys to the pond here and fish for some bass and bluegill.
Nice park near the American River but I saw a lot of trash and or litter in the parking lots and some litter trash on the shores and in the edge of the water.: (️
Real nice place for picnics and fishing, the water is pretty fast so wear a life jacket and be careful with dogs or small kids, if you go a little further down there is some slower pools that are more relaxing for families
I love this place but not really all that kid friendly. There are a couple little spots along the shore line where smaller kids could play in ankle deep water. Though once you get shin deep, the current drastically picks up. Now there were a bunch of of middle aged kinds playing around and going down the current. It would just make me nervous. OTHER THAN THAT, me and my fiance love it!
July 2020. Lovely pond with access to the American River nearby. Picnic facilities, restrooms, easy kayak access to the pond. Lots of trails.
I've spent a lot of time at Willy B Pond.
Ride your bike to the park and save on parking fees.
It is never crowded.
Bring your camera and get some shots of animals and birds.
One of the best nature spots around.
