A good short hike. Some of it is hard, some is easy. Moderate overall.

To be honest, these "caves" were a let down. They're not caves at all, but lame boulders with some wind erosion. By the way, a 4x4 or AWD is not required. A steady hand in a 2x SUV is sufficient.

The hike to get to the wind caves was very steep and the ground is very loose. Though short, it is a challenging hike. I highly recommend a good pair of hiking shoes, bringing water, and letting someone know where you'll be. The caves are absolutely amazing the the views from the top are spectacular.

Need a 4x4 or all-wheel drive. The canyon leading to the trail entrance we used us spectacular. High canyon walls and various geological features will keep your attention. Watch out for oncoming traffic in the turns and proceed slowly. Download maps ahead of time, as the location to the trail is not well marked and maps can be lost. Up hill hike, over rocks, so limited mobility will have issues getting to this location. Worth the effort to get there. Take lots of photos and knave no trace!

Trailhead says 1 mile. Pretty much up a steep incline, then a gradual one. Very pretty sweeping panoramic views once you get to the top.

The caves seem like concrete catacombs filled with sand. Who knows what ancient secrets lie within their bellies? Not a hike for beginners, but a very satisfying hike.

The road to the trailhead winds along Fish Creek which has spectacular views itself. It's advisable to drive a 4x4 or SUV/all terrain type vehicle capable of maneuvering through deep sand and decomposed granite and crawling over rock slides and the occasional boulder.
