The beer and food is pretty solid and the atmosphere is good. I've been a few times
and would come back again. I would've given this place four or five stars, but the menu threatens a $50 fee if the 2L boot glass gets damaged. Who wants to worry about punitive fees for damaged drinking glasses at a bar?

I went here for my friends birthday celebration- the food was really quite good, and am I wrong saying fresh? I guess I did get brussel sprouts as a side on my VEGAN SAUSAGE. That's right they have 2 vegan sausage.

Not as warm and inviting as other Bavarian style pubs/restaurants in Los Angeles, but the food is great, the beer list is decent and the ambience is ok. The staff was friendly enough, but not too attentive. I was hoping for more of a fun pub vibe, but still, a decent place.

Great people and vibes during Oktoberfest. Food was good and beer was great! When the live music is playing during Oktoberfest festivities, you have to order a minimum of 1 liter for any of the draft beers. We even participated in a stein holding contest. We had lots of fun and would come again.

Beers/foods were tastey. I deducted two stars - one for the male server who has been consistently rude during our visit; one for the server who tasted the customers' beers. She might want to quickly m taste/sip the beers for identification purposes (i.e, to serve correct beers). This looks a very unhegenic gesture to me.

A small corner restaurant with sitting both inside and Outside. This place is by far the most authentic German restaurant i have been to in Los Angeles.

When friends suggested to try this place I was expecting move of a German-American place with some fancy expensive beer, some food that tasted like the other places but then things changed as soon as we walked in!

Even their staff is from Germany

For the first time, German food tasted like Germany, and it was delicious.

We ordered the Käsekrainer, lamb burger, their signature burger, and the schnitzel and all were perfect specially with their own special sides such as hot cabbage, garlic brussel sprouts, german noodles and etc.

Beer was perfect! Every time in different glasses tho lol which was cool.

Then came the desert, that Nutella thing! BOMB.

We went there on a Sunday night and found parking, I am not sure if they have a parking or not but parking can be an issue in that part of city.

Service was a little behind, but they were really cool people that I will give them Five star

And did I mention their restroom, make sure you visit!

Try it, Try it, Try it.and Thank You for making it such a good experience.

We will be Back

First time here. Great place, good drinks, great food. Friendly staff. Definitely coming back. I didn’t just order the pretzel but it was the only thing I got a picture of.

German beer is great! Service is not super great. Food is okay for German food in the US. Waiter and server were more in the rude side unfortunately this time.

Was a great place! Nice vibe for a Sunday morning. Ordered both veal and chicken schnitzel.veal was a winner. Spaetzle was perfect and the arugula salad was perfectly dressed. Definitely a place to check out. Service is very attentive and polite.

Amazing German establishment near the downtown LA area! The one authentic German food area near my home shut down, but I found the German food here to be just as good! They serve good quality German food for anyone who is interested!

I like this spot. Good food and beer selection. Really wish they were open when New Beverly double features get out tho - there needs to be a good nearby spot for post film drinks. Wirtshaus always seems to be closed or closing around that time. Maybe they tried staying open later and it wasn’t worth it. Dunno.

Edit 9/20/2022: The clock strikes 11: 55pm. A massive New Beverly crowd hits the streets in search of beer and food. Wirtshaus is fully dark without an employee in sight. Cinefile dollars are refused and the crowd slowly thins, disappointed, hungry and sober.

My partner and I are long time patrons of this restaurant (over 9 years) and were able to recently return after Covid. We thought that Happy Hour was still available and asked about the discount when we received the bill (which should have been about $8). We asked our server and she said they didn't do it and the website hadn't been updated and explained her manager said there "wasn't anything we could do". We asked to speak to the manager, Phil, and he accused us of attempting to pull a scam and was very rude. We expressed our disappointment that it wasn't even extended as a one-time gesture and felt really insulted by the way we were treated. I expressed my feelings as a member of the hospitality industry and he essentially shrugged me off and didn't seem to care.
Very sad because the food and service staff are great, but this Manager is toxic to this establishment.

Super Essen. Gulasch war super. Jägerschnitzel auch ok. Der Geschmack ist wie überall etwas bitterer als gewohnt aber ok

As someone who was born and raised in Germany, I always found it hard to find food in the US that tastes like at home. The Wirtshaus and its sister location Rasselbock are getting very close to that. Their menu focuses on sausages and schnitzels in all forms and shapes, but they do have seasonal specials too that are more or less authentic. I wish they had white asparagus during the season since that’s extremely difficult to find on this side of the ocean. Their beer selection is top notch too! I have found most of my favorites here, which means a lot, especially as it includes beers from smaller breweries like Bischofshof that you don’t often find in America.
