World Gym, Oxnard CA

Pretty standard but a couple things to keep in mind. 1) No class pass- don’t try to sign up for gym time via class pass even though it’s still “available. ” Very strange. But day pass is only $15 which is cheaper than most places. 2) not for people who want to deadlift. No platforms or deadlift jacks or wedges and they only have square-side plates…which are awkward for trying to set your stance in my opinion. The bumper plates are locked up in the “cross fit” area. If you’re a visiting powerlifter, spend the extra $5 to get a day pass at Golds Gym.

Friendly staff and people but disgusting restrooms, no towels on the towel dispenser 80% of the time, no cleaning solution, no trash cans nearby, and the towel dispensers that actually give towels are across the other side of the gym or too near the squat racks/other machines/free weights which disturbs people's workouts. Maybe a visit from the health department can fix it up? Also the hours are ridiculous on the weekends.

So disappointed, this use to be the best gym, but not anymore. Apparently it has new franchise owners that are very incompetent. I purchased a personal trainer package, and then they shut down for 8 or so months due to Covid, now they are opening up again and won’t give me my sessions nor refund me or give me ANY kind of credit. $200 down the drain.
As the other reviews have stated, they keep saying it’s new owners, but it’s really the same people with different job titles, trying to avoid giving anyone what they have paid for.

This gym is definitely not going to make it. They have zero customer service skills.
Don’t waste your time here, they’re just out to take your money and run.

THE BEST GYM IN OXNARD IS BACK BABY!

I got my bench back up to 505 for a double and recently squatted 600 in this place. Only a fool wouldn't come here.

So much space and so much equipment. Everything is up to code and the place is always sanitary. These guys do a really good job. The other gyms in town need to step their cleaning game up.

It's a big gym with tons of equipment that work, unlike a certain cookie cutter gym near food 4 less that shall remain nameless.

THEY OWE ME MY REFUND, AND THEY KEEP DODGING. I HAVE MAILED/EMAILED PROOF AND CALLED MULTIPLE TIME AND EVEN CHATTED WITH AN ASSOCIATE ON YELP. $415. ALL WENT TO WASTE DUE TO COVID19. IDK WHAT ELSE TO DO!

The facility had potential. Was good like 6 years ago. A shame they can't allow outdoor use of the facility. Guess I'll gain weight and lie about making progress just like Janoy Cresva

Seems like they went out of business. Everybody else has opened up a long time ago. Phone number disconnected. Webpage still says closed and never gets updated as promised on the website.

I payed for a whole year gym membership before covid happened two months later the gym was closed and never opened back up I tried calling nobody answered I want my money back I am a college student struggling with money this is so unprofessional.

I highly suggest avoiding this gym at ALL costs. Not like it matters because it doesn't seem like they are ever reopening. I moved last June due to military orders. This gym owes me money and you can't get in touch with anyone. I had to call my bank and have them put a stop payment on them because they continued to charge me even after I canceled. They owe my friend several hundred dollars as well. The lack of communication they've given current members, even staff is outrageous. Most unprofessional gym I've ever been to.

This gym is really poor on communication they owe people so much money as well as they do to me. It’s been half a year. I can’t believe how a gym can take advantage of so many people without feeling guilty or giving people their money back. I saw a review on how the gym wasn’t giving people their money back just so they don’t go bankrupt is absolutely hysterical. This gym is the worst. People work for their money and may even struggle to get the amount of money they have taken. The fact that the gym was closed and people couldn’t workout and make the money worth is absolutely unprofessional.

I had already paid for a whole year membership just for them to be closed majority of time with no signs of re opening i really would like my money back

Ive tried to cancel my membership at least 5 times in the past few months due to covid, and nobody has gotten back to me and my account is overcharged.very poor communication.

Good gym to start out at to see if you are serious about going due to the cheap price, but nothing more.

Despite my earlier negative review, I have been going here for a few years and I have decided to change my review to 5 stars. They have made efforts to improve and continue to do so, and also, this pandemic has brought out everyone's true colors and I am extremely proud to say that the gym I go to takes the pandemic seriously, unlike certain other gyms in the area that refuse to close and refuse to require the wearing of masks due to never having actually read the US Constitution. Thank you World Gym and I am excited to be a customer for many more years to come!

I've been going to this gym for years now & I absolutely love it! I've tried other gyms in the area & nothing beats this place. They have so many different machines to use & the setup is always great. Recently with covid they've also extended my membership which I appreciate so much! They're GREAT!

Everything and everyone at World Gym in Oxnard are excellent. Staff are friendly and always ready to help. Clean equipment.

They have everything you need. Great old school bodybuilding equipment and outdoor weightlifting area as well. I'll miss this place.

Definitely a good price. The equipment is older, but works perfectly. Sanitation (covid) is taken seriously. There's tons of cleaning stations, and the staff are always going around cleaning/refilling stations. I've seen everyone do their part in this is well. I'm more than comfortable coming here.
