Yai Restaurant reviews
16Came here because of the good reviews. Service is great. Food is bland. Cash only. Their soups don't come with sides.
My family and I absolutely love this Thai restaurant. It is the most authentic and delicious Thai food you can find around. We stop by often whenever we are in town. The only downside is, they only accept cash so it makes it very inconvenient for us and I’m sure for a lot of people who don’t carry cash nowadays.
Best Thai Fried rice in a while! I ordered the a combination chicken & beef to go. Delicious, not dry or bland at all! I used to go to Torung, but the quality of their food has gone down hill. I think I found my new Favorite Thai restaurant. Food portion was great️
So far it's the best Thai food in LA COUNTY, I drove from Rancho Cucamonga just to eat, highly recommended
Abosulte authentic gem.
Must haves: chow mein
Tom Yom soup (seafood soup)
Shrimp Fried rice
Chinese broccoli garlic sauce beef
Pad Thai
To name a few all stars.
CASH ONLY*********
UPDATE! 10/7/2022
NEW COOK FOOD IS NOT WHAT IT ONCE WAS
ALL MY ORDER WHERE A DISAPPOINTMENT
MY COMBINATION RICE WAS DRY HAD BAD PORK IN IT MADE ME SICK.
I been coming here for my combo fried rice and chow mien for the last "20 years".
The fried shrimp plater is great a this location.
Their is more to their menu thats really excellent.
You can't go wrong on anything in their menu. I have brought all of my dates and family members to this specific location and everyone has loved the food.
11/21/22: TLDR: Go down the street to Torung, Pailin Thai, or Chuan Chim for better food at half the price. Details: I ordered the Crispy Catfish. The waiter asked if I wanted rice, and I said yes. The catfish was good but the bill came and turns out they charged $3 for the side of rice. For a hole in the wall type of place, $20.75 for catfish (literally the cheapest fish you can buy) and rice with no vegetables or anything else, just doesn't make sense.
Authentic Thai food in Thai town so happy I was introduced to this hidden gem by a friend
In Thai, ‘Yai’ means grandma & the name is so fitting as the food was so comforting and legit.

️Ordered:
1. BBQ pork
2. Tom kha gai (hot & sour chicken soup w/ coconut milk)
3. Pad see ew w/ shrimp
Every dish was exploding with flavor & I loved how they all complemented each other. The bbq pork was my favorite which is surprising bc I don’t love pork! The sauce that it was paired with was just so delicious
The Tom kha gai was super creamy and just tangy enough. It’s the perfect dish to have on a cold day ️
Tips:
-bring cash! This spot is cash ONLY
-there is a small parking lot so if you go on a weekday it’s pretty easy to find parking
Price:
$56/meal
Great place for Thai food. I highly recommend the crispy catfish spicy stirred fry. I think the portion is getting smaller each time I visit but the taste is still amazing.
I have been going to this restaurant for 30 years! The food is always delicious. The flavors & the authenticity are amazing. Never disappointed with any dish I have tried
This is probably my favorite Thai place now. Their Chinese sausage and pork fried rice was so flavorful that we ate the entire plate, and their pad see ew is one of the best in town. The soup was a little salty but still good!
Cash only so don’t forget.
Used to b one of best places in Hwd! Now due to Covid issues etc! Selling dishes with bbq meat and roast pork that are green and spoiled! Should b sued not going back ever unless really desperate
Always a treat, tasty, delicious Thai food, cooked to perfection in the tradition of "Yai" (grandma) style of cooking.in a strip mall, clean, simple dining where the food is the star. Fried, crispy catfish w sambal sauce, chinese broccoli w crispy pork belly, their own beef jerky, curry and noodles that transports you to Thailand.
Tried my of their dishes and was pleased with the flavor. It was good. I didn't expect to love the noodle with beef. I'll come back and I hope they don't forget my rice with shrimp next time.
