Youth & Family Programs - Shasta County Foster Care reviews
3I have seen multiple post talking about they don't care for there clients, they are just in a hurry to get the kids and get them to a new family so they get there cut of money. This is my personal opinion
I can only give them one star other wise it would be negatives. ️ They don’t care about their clients and it’s sad we as kids are looking to them for guidance and we aren’t given any with this program. If you are looking into THP housing you are better off with another program!
My wife and I participated in their Transitional Housing program between August 2018 and December 2018. We worked with 16-19 year olds mentoring them in a house that is rented by Youth and Family. My overall idea of the company and who we worked with is limited to the scope of that program. Unfortunately, I was not impressed by the work I saw. It seemed messy, unorganized, and frankly to the disservice of the young adults. The options these young adults are being given are not setting them up for success. Again, my scope is very limited in what I saw. Overall, I would label this program unprofessional and expect it to be disbanded in due time. I expect this program will be disbanded more because of the expectations of the mentors than the actual disservice to the young adults. Any person working a full time job and having any kind of social life cannot healthly work with this company. As they place you in houses with expectations that you will basically parent anywhere from 2-4 young adults at a time who have free reign over everything in the house. And while trying to mentor these young people, you have a whole house to maintain, in which things will break and not get fixed for days if not weeks at a time. It's certainly possible to make it work, but just be prepared for a butt load of work. They do offer free rent and utilities to their mentors. If you're lucky, you may get a 2 bedroom apt and only have one young person to mentor. That's reasonable, but when we left it seemed they were pushing everyone into larger house 3-4 bedrooms. Which means more kids, less time with each kid, and more of a mess, and consequently 10 fold more responsibility. God bless and I truly hope they get more manpower for this program or totally remodel the method of the madness.
