French Restaurant Zazie reviews
27 The quick highlights: our server was very friendly (but no masks), the food was only ok and expensive and the general cleanliness seemed poor.
The arugula strawberry salad had a mound of arugula but almost nothing else. I had to dig around to find any strawberries pieces, there were a couple of tiny chevre blobs, and no flower petals that were supposed to be there. The eggs Bretagne was better. The hollandaise was excellent but the shrimp were super salty and the bread on the bottom was really soggy (like they had to soak up extra water from the poached eggs).
Plus, they say that you can tell the quality of a place by how clean the bathroom is. I stepped in a puddle getting into the bathroom and the bathroom itself was run down and not very clean looking in there. When I got out, I started to notice how run down and not clean the rest of the interior looked (the floor especially).
All in all, not sure why this place is so popular and probably will leave it for the tourists.
After 75 minutes to get a table, I had some really nice divorcée eggs benedict with bacon, avocado, fontina and house fries. The house fries were fried with fresh garlic, delicious. The eggs were very good as well but rather small (I ordered 3 of them and one of them was actually an odd triangle-shaped small egg) and the fontina wasn't melting, just shredded.
14 dollars for a mimosa.
Overall, I felt it was good but overpriced, ($5 per extra tiny egg) and $7 for a latte. They do not expect you to tip so we know the prices have to be higher but, still, overpriced.
I will come back but not as often as I'd like to. Both the prices and the super long wait may be a good reason to go check somewhere else.
Nothing special at all. Saturday brunch waiting time was 1,5 h, so not worth it. Food was average, coffee is just fine. Service was fine.
Weekends brunch waiting time is 1,5 h, so not worth it. Food was ok, nothing special. Service is fine.
The food here is amazing! I got the La Mer eggs benedict with home fries and my fiance got the French Toast Tahiti with a side of bacon. Absolutely delicious! Not only that, but the service was phenomenal. I was set on eating brunch here so I was waiting in line while on crutches after I sprained my foot the day before. The owner, who is a total sweetheart, asked me if I was feeling okay and told me he'd make sure I was seated right away. I am from out of town, but will forever recommend Zazie to all my friends who travel to SF and I will be back myself any time I visit!
Decided to try this place on my trip to SF due to the glowing reviews. Waited for an hour to get in, but boy was it worth it. This may have just been the best eggs benedict I've ever had. Perfect balance of flavors, portions, and pricing. On that note, no tip is expected here as the establishment upmarks the dishes slightly to provide benefits and liveable wage to their employees - worth the 5 starts alone. Next time in SF, I will brace the hour line again for Zazie's food.
This was an amazing discovery! The food was fabulous and the atmosphere was both fun and cozy. You will not be disappointed!
This place has been on my list for years but I finally made it today. Croque madam and today's special omelet with black forest ham and portabello mushrooms. We went for mango mimosas as a group. The wait was long but here's your pro tip. Grab yourself a Bloody Mary nextdoor. You're welcome.
If not for the Monday dog nights, I would have given them fewer stars. Food ranged from passable to awful. One dish was lukewarm and bland I had to return it. Good deals on wine on Mondays.
Not particularly good, especially if you're waiting for it. Not bad, however, just not what I was expecting considering the hype. Also the server was super inattentive to us, and I basically heard him tell the lady next to me that she was ordering too much food. Bad move, bro.
Ordered the worst dish I've ever eaten off the brunch special menu. The Eggs Vincent was disgusting, and after eating only the potatoes on the side and a couple bites of the main entree, the waitress said she could not bring take it off the tab and give me a cheaper entree instead.
The French toast of my companion was amazing though, and I would come back solely for that.
Extremely delicious food but extremely steep prices. The menu reads "our prices include Heath care, apartment rent, electricity bills etc" to prepare for the shock that is the prices. I do appreciate they take care of their workers but be prepared to spend your savings. Get the creme brulee oatmeal.
Upfront price seems intimidating, but quality of meal and service far exceeds price. Place is great.
Delicious brunch! The line moves relatively quickly, and while we don't go often, we always think it's worth the wait. Delicious home fries, egg dishes, and banana stuffed French toast!
The food is AMAZING! I have a lot of food restrictions, and there are multiple breakfast food items I can have there. The wait can be a little long, but there is a Peet's next door, so you can grab a cup of coffee while you wait. In addition, a lot of people give up and leave, so the wait is less than predicted a lot of the time. The service is nice and the back patio is pretty and warm with the heaters. I recommend the GF pancakes!
The food was great. The kids love the hot chocolate. But the portions are too big, and felt guilty wasting the food.
Great food, great service and wonderful atmosphere! Ask for a table out back on the patio. They have awnings and heaters.
One of my favourite spot in town for brunch. The only thing is you gotta wait for at least 30 mins before you get your table.
One of the best brunch in the city, just be aware: you're going to wait to experience the goodness, put your name on a list and wait at least ~1h to get a seat. Worth the wait though, a lot of choice, I went with eggs and miracle pancakes. It was delicious! Love that place and will be back again!
Great food, though fairly pricey and usually a very long wait - so be prepared. You write your name and the size of your party down on a list outside the restaurant and then wait for your name to be called. Be sure you are around when your name is called, because otherwise you get bumped down the list or skipped altogether.
