Zeitgeist has done an awesome job of adapting to the current situation. I like the little booths and ordering process. I was impressed! Plus, still good beer and some live music. Great outdoor beer garden overall!

Heard many great things about this place and it’s history. I’m also not one to give bad reviews on places if they are off their game, look I get thing happen. Coming out of Covid likely paired down menu, which make sense. Entered the garden, my ID was checked and our group was directed towards a corner to await a table. I split from my group to look for the bathroom. There was a sign on a stand placed in the entrance to the indoor area/kitchen that said bathrooms to the left. So I walk through. I hear someone hollering at me from the outside area, I immediately step out. A server starts yelling at me that I was told at the door where the bathrooms were, I reply that I was not notified. And he and another server immediately ask me if I want to get kicked out of the bar. I put my hands up and walked away. I see the bathroom tucked away in the southwest corner and relieve myself. Walking out of the bathroom afterwards, I see they’ve relocated the sign from the door to the edge of the patio. We are seated and the same server who yelled at me is our table’s server. He never asked what I wanted to drink nor would he make eye contact with me the entire night. Look, honest mistakes happen on both sides but clearly the confusion is due to poor door communication and this clearly isn’t the first time this has happened as the sign they claimed was told to me. On my way out, I see a sign says no entering the indoor area. Looks guys, this is my first time at your venue. I’m sure you get a lot of jerks and drunk people making life miserable. I was more than respectful to the staff and was not confrontational. Please improve your communication and improve your signage if this is a such an issue or a reoccurring issue. Thank you.

Central location in the city. On the fringe of SoMa and the Mission. Chill picnic table vibe with metal playing in the background. Diverse crowd. What’s not to like in an SF dive bar?

Extremely rude staff. Very unwelcoming. Smart remarks made towards my friend when we asked if we could move to the table right next to us that was vacant as we were sitting next to a random couple. His response was unprofessional and uncalled for.
He then proceeded to seat a party of 2 at this table when he stated that I was reserved for a party of 4.

The best part is their spicy fries.
Usually busy and loud.
Loved the craft beer collection, nice outdoor seating, it looks a little dirt and rustic.
Bathrooms are nasty but then it’s a dive bar.
Good for a quick beer

Cool, hip bar with a great vibe. Their food was extremely uninspiring so maybe eat elsewhere before.

Great place with a dive bar atmosphere, superb beer selection and friendly staff. No photos allowed, and no attitude allowed either:)

The door guy was so rude I actually left here. He put his hands on me and pretty much yelled at me just because I walked in with headphones on to check if my friend was here. Super uncool.

Plenty of drink options, and the outdoor area is good for relaxing and having good conversations with friends. They have food food on site (typical German-influenced pub fare), which is pretty good. Drinks are reasonably priced. Would recommend.

There is good selection of draft beers. The majority of seating is outside so it's chilly during the winter and spring months. But as a summer bar you can't beat it. The food is good.

It's an old punk rock bar with a great patio, what more could you ask for? Oh yeah, bring cash.

Dive bar with a wide beer selection and a huge outdoor patio area. Great for warm days. The music was a little loud though. (Maybe I'm just getting old.)

Cash only, and it can get super crowded here. The beer selection is pretty good and the prices are not too steep for the city. You can get pitchers to share with your friends so you do not have to wait in line too many times to sit down and hang out.

Cool punk rock bar with a large outdoor seating area
good place to chill after shows at the Bill Graham Civic

I love this place for mostly sentimental reasons, but they also have a great beer selection. The real draw is the outdoor area out back. It's just communal picnic tables but the atmosphere (mostly laughter and weed smoke) make it great. You can also get basic bar food here which is nothing special, but reasonably priced. Just don't forget to dress warm!

The bar is rad. Huge tap list, good/greasy bar food, and metal is usually coming out of the speakers.

Great beer selection and great outdoor patio. They finally redid the restrooms inside, so they are pretty nice.

Vegans: Ask them to hold the worsteshire sauce and the horseradish (it has egg in it). That’ll make it 100% herbivore-friendly. Now you have something you can feed to your brachiosaurus

It's not a truly complete weekend if there isn't a Zeitgeist bloody mary and a burger involved.

This is a great bar for sunny days in the city. They have a huge back patio area, and it's always a great time. It is a cash only bar and even though there is an ATM, I recommend bringing your own cash. Wide selection of beers, decent food, fantastic atmosphere and good crowds.
