Zelda's Original Gourmet Pizza reviews
12Heard about this place back in 2004. Finally went to try it. Pizza was different but good. I really liked the garlic bread. Cute spot.
I thought it was Chicago style pizza but instead it was Detroit style. Meaning the marina sauce went on top of the toppings. They tried to do the pie type crust which wasn't tasty it was bland and has an after taste. Again the toppings were good but not the crust. And fyi Chicago style pizza is like a piece of pie the ingredients are inside not on top
As close to real Chicago-style pizza as you will find on the west coast. More like Lou's than Giordano's. Recommended highly!
Atmosphere to dark to see anything.no white type of sauce on any Pizza orders. If allergic to tomatos don't go!
I've been coming to Zelda's since about 1988. This is the place to experience the areas best Chicago style pie, hands down! I've tried the chain restaurant and it's not even a close second. There are others that offer Chicago "style" pizza on their menus but apparently don't know what a true Chicago style pie is. The ambiance of this place is just like out of a movie in an old part of town where you'd meet up with old friends in a softly lite establishment. I'm sure Zelda knew exactly what she was doing, possibly emulating a part of old Chicago itself. If you want the full effect, try it on a cold rainy evening. You walk through the door and the arroma of fresh baked oregano, sausage, tomato sauce and spices smacks you right square in the face. This pizza goes very well with most beers or a full bodied red wine. Cheers!
Whenever i am in sactown i try to come here. I have been eating here since i was a kid. I love this place and as long as its here and i am still alive, i will return again.
Best pizza pie around. Well worth the wait. It is unique and you will not believe how good it is until you taste it.
It's always a good idea to order ahead as the wait to get the pizza to you is no less than 30 minutes. Be smart and order two. You won't be disappointed.
The interior is the same as years past but doesn't look old or worn but rather warm and comfortable.
Don't miss out on this Sacramento landmark.
I haven’t had this pizza in 10 years and got it when we came to town. It was just like it was. Love Zelda’s pizza!
Went here recently and our appetizer came out last actually (wings), the salad Lettuce was still all stuck together so I know it wasn't cleaned before being served, and the sandwich had sat under the heat lamp for too long or something bc the Salami was ROCK hard.
Service was great. Hidden little area. The pizza was good but man was the crust dry as hell
This place is a Sac icon, I understand that, but there was next to no meat on our pizza! I'd heard so much about it, and I was really excited to try it. In the end, the cheesy garlic bread ended up being the star of the show at our dinner! I'll go back for the cheesy bread!
I have never been a Zelda's fan but the person I was out to dinner with just loved it.
