Agua 301 Restaurant, Washington DC

Seeing that the many low star reviews are about poor service, I thought trying this place for takeout would be fine. It was not. If you like unseasoned (not even a lick of salt) and oily food, then I can’t recommend this place enough.

We sat at the bar and had a wonderful time. The lump crab guacamole, empanadas and the shrimp quesadilla were delicious. Special thanks to Chris for making us feel so welcome. We will definitely be back!

Tried to go here 9/22/2023 at 10 pm we walked in, asked what time they closed, and were told that they were already closed! We then checked the website and it stated that there hours are until 11 p.m. Good job!

Went to bottomless brunch and our table only received two rounds of drinks in an hour and an half. We were then cut off without any warning. Spoke to the manager Larry and he was not accommodating. Our server Terrance was great and really understanding. Do not recommend for brunch.

Excellent modern Mexican restaurant with an amazing drink and food happy hour Monday through Friday 330pm to 630pm.

This place should be around a 4.7 rating for happy hour. Went with my wife (were visiting from Chi) 6 margaritas fish tacos beef empinadas, and coconut shrimp. All 7 bucks. Most importantly fresh hot and quick.

The food and atmosphere was AMAZING! I am blown away by the amazing service by Nate (N8). His service was superb and I really appreciate personalization to my experience. You guys will be seeing us again!

Use Door dash or Uber Eats at your own risk, there's about a 50% chance your food won't show up. For whatever reason, Agua 301 uses another 3rd party to deal with 3rd party orders. Doordash will tell you its not their problem, call the restaurant, the restaurant staff will say the food is ready and no delivery person has picked it up, and round and round it goes. It's upsetting considering the food is very good.

Nice place to get a few drinks and quick bites. Everything was good. Server was attentive and they have special glasses for kids which I really appreciate. Seating was quick.

Great food with a river view. We sat on the patio with our dog and enjoyed the atmosphere.

Gorgeous location. Fantastic staff. Over priced and mediocre food. There are many other options that are comparably priced with higher quality food in larger portions. Cannot recommend.

The service I serviced was indelible! The waiter, John, was extremely rude. His demeanor was unwelcoming and sassy. It felt as if he was bothered by serving my group. In fact, there were other tables that also complained. Maybe he had a bad day but the level of service I experienced was horrible. I asked for a straw and John walked off stating he would be right back. The crazy thing is he had several straws in his apron. To top it off, when he brought the frozen drinks back, they were melted and he forgot to give the straws until we reminded him. He proceeded to say oh yeah and tossed the straws on the table. At the point we no longer wanted service or the drinks. The manager did offer to comp the drinks but the damage was done. I really do hope that management provides some remediation to John because several tables were very disappointed in John's service.

*****MOUSE RAN ON THE BAR TOWARDS ME AND I GOT ESCORTED OUT BY MANAGEMENT FOR SCREAMING TOO LOUD****

The fact that I even patronized this place is beyond me. 6 months ago, my husband and I ordered some nachos (while at the bar) and a roach crawled out of our food! So I asked a dumb question to the bartender…. “Does this restaurant have roaches? ”. She immediately said “yes and BAD but all of the restaurants down here have them! ”. Now while that may be true, I’ve never seen one EVER IN LIFE, crawl off my plate! So we kept patronizing the restaurant because the manager was extremely apologetic and would give us extreme discounts on our checks and it didn’t happen again.

A few months later, one of the employees overfeeds my dog treats without asking and my dog got sick and vomited everywhere! I took pictures and called the owner. His response was “Your dog couldn’t have gotten sick because our treats are organic! ”. After some talk, he said he would offer us a free meal. We already get “free meals” there. I wanted him to pay for a vet visit but he refused. We didn’t want to sure or write any bad reviews because of the relationship we had with the manager and bartenders.

Now 2 days ago, we’re at the bar. It’s 9: 08 pm. What do I see? As we’re sitting at the bar, A MOUSE RUNS ACROSS THE BAR COMING OUR WAY! I’m extremely afraid of mice so I scream LOUDLY! The mouse runs back where he came from and behind the bar!

Instead of checking on me, I’m ushered out as if I WAS the problem. I reached out to the restaurant to see if they addressed the issue. Instead of asking if I was ok, the manager says “Were you bit by the mouse? It’s mice all down here! ”. My concerns were just dismissed!

He proceeded to ask me what was I looking for? As if I was looking for special compensation! We already eat and drink mostly for FREE at this restaurant so what else WOULD I BE LOOKING FOR? I was calling to see what measures should be taken before I called the health department! It was disgusting to see and I had never seen anything like this in all my life and employees that are just that comfortable with it!

I can’t get over how rudely I was treated for seeing a nasty mouse run across the bar while lights are on and butts are in the seats. We had just paid our bill all of $5 for 4 drinks and 4 shots of tequila so why would we want to mess THAT UP?

At this point, we won’t be patronizing this place because of how we were treated as if the only reason I was complaining about the infestation (that the BARTENDER told us was going on) was so we could get compensation. We were ALREADY getting compensated. I just wanted to know if the establishment gave a hoot! Clearly they don’t!

Happy hour here is amazing! I come here all the time. The food is solid and margs are $7-8 and beers are $5. It’s right on the water and the staff is lovely.

The patio was fantastic today. The ceviche mixto was spot on and the chicken tinga enchiladas were superb! Got an extra classic margarita by mistake which really made my day. The prices though CANNOT be beat for Navy Yard lunch! Absolutely a new fave spot

This place is a Navy Yard staple. Great staff and the food is excellent, especially for the price. Their happy hour is also an amazing deal.
