Thought users of maps might want to see some old photos of the C & O Canal and related structures. Many of these photos I am posting are from Civil War era (including Mathew Brady/Levin Handy, Library of Congress) to early 20th century. The photos were compiled in the book, "Chesapeake & Ohio Canal, Old Picture Album" by Thomas F. Hahn.
These early photos show the Potomac Aqueduct. The one is Civil War Era.the other is post 1879 which can be dated by noting Healy Hall (background), Georgetown University, which was completed in 1879). The early drawing was done near this spot in Georgetown looking west.
