Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken reviews
14Was walking downtown in Washington, DC today and this cute store caught my eye. Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken! Say what, who would imagine, sweets and chicken. Trust me, you’ll fall head over heels in love from the first bite. The staff was friendly, professional and helpful. Being a first timer I was guided over several selections. All were yummy looking, and I wasn’t feeling too adventurous so I choose some safe options. Next time, I’m going ALL in on everything. If you happen to be in the neighborhood, check them out!
Creme brûlée donuts are delicious. I want to eat again. But it costs 10,000 won per piece~
I recently consumed a maple bacon donut and a chocolate chocolate chip cookie dough donut.
Maple Bacon 5/5: This may have been the most scrumptious donut I have ever had. The saltyness of the bacon meshed in a perfect marriage with the sweetness of the maple to creatha a pure harmony that made my taste buds dance like a drunk frat boy when he hears Katy Perry. The donut itself was fluffy yet firm at the same time and cooked to perfection. The bacon on top had no reason being as much of a star as it was, it without a doubt stole the show.
Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough 2/5: I have not been this disappointed since seeing Suicide Squad in theater. As the great Maxwell Jacob Friedman would say, this donut was muh-muh-muh MID. It was simply TOO MUCH CHOCOLATE. When executed well, the chocolate chip is a fine kitchen ingredient. However, when it is not, it is THE MOST OVERRATED KITCHEN ingredient and in this instance the execution was sloppy at best.
The best donuts I've ever eaten! It's not healthy, but you can't do without it!
And the workers were nice
Great food. The chicken sliders and 2 piece was delicious. The bartender was extremely friend, polite, and helpful.
The burgers are nice but not decadent… the creme brulee donut was delicious but the one with maple bacon was very dry and tasteless… on the other hand the bill was quite nasty and the person who served us was not super friendly…
This is place has the BEST chicken and has a Maple Bacon Donut, but that carrot cake donut was a show stopper
Excellent donuts. If you’re day drinking for a sports game and this place is still open on the way out of the bar then your nutritionist has lost.
Hole in the wall. Only tried the doughnuts.vanilla glazed and peanut butter and jelly were excellent. The glazed was very moist and yeasty with some substance - dense, not all air. The PB &J tasted just like a PB&J in the doughnut dough with lots of strawberry filling inside.
Delicious but definitely over priced donuts. Staffs were nice!
I liked all kinds of donuts except PBJ and Vanilla one.
Not fresh and went downhill after expansion. Premade food for a crowd but nothing special anymore
Lame donuts. Very underwhelming. The dough tastes horrible. The employees that gave us the donuts were on another planet the creme brûlée donut tastes like medicine. The chocolate candy bar donut tastes like a cake? Overrated not worth. Looks like the reviews were purchased
This was the best thing I never had, and I’m not talking about Beyonce! I knew the donuts would be good, but I wasn’t expecting the chicken to be good. I was dead wrong, they both were chef’s kiss! I found them online, and added them to my itinerary as I was visiting DC from NYC. I don’t have any pictures because I devoured my donuts & chicken, but next time I will definitely take pictures. My server Erick was so pleasant and well-informed, I felt like a kid in a candy store! He explained the menu to me, as well as my options. He was so gracious that he didn’t want to accept my tip, but I insisted! I had the crème brûlée, and maple bacon donuts, and a large order of dark meat. Thank you so much Erick, I really appreciate you. I hope to see you when I return for more! Next time I’m going to try the banana pudding, and the s’mores. This is a 10/10, you MUST try it!
