Beacon Hotel & Corporate Quarters, Washington DC

BED BUGS! Beware, I stayed in room 509 for three nights and came home with bug bites on my face, ears, legs, back, and arms. When I found out what it was, I called the hotel to make sure no one else stayed in that room. They didn't sound surprised or even apologize. There's no corporate email address available and the management number I was given is a fax line. I'm so worried someone is sleeping in that room right now, having them crawl into their bags, I can't fall asleep in my won bed.
The hotel is also old, the elevators are tiny, the floor slanted in my room, the margaritas at the bar are the worst I've ever had. The staff seems miserable (except the bag guys, they seemed happy and nice).
The WiFi is practically non existent.

Yes, the location is very nice. Only one person at the front desk is friendly. I don’t even know where to start with the amount of stuff that has been bad about this hotel. Amenities like refrigerators in microwaves are not in the hotel, like the website says, but rather you have to ask for a refrigerator. Unfortunately, this is not even a guarantee as I had to wait four days to even have access to one which required a reminder to the staff each day to get access to this refrigerator. The microwave is on each floor smell extremely bad and the buttons are peeling off. Only about half the floors have ice machines, and the ones that don’t have peeled wallpaper where the ones on the other floors usually have them. Not to mention the exposed plumbing systems where they go. The room does come with the safe, but when I first tried to use it, it didn’t work. I asked for a new one, but it never came. Last night I used the laundry facility. Everything was fine until I use the dryer which didn’t dry my clothes completely all the way even on the highest setting. Since there’s only one dryer, I’ve had to wait to use it with a Quarters that they did provide. (Thank baby Jesus). I wouldn’t be leaving a bad review if this company wasn’t owned by a $24 billion group.

Rooms are nice and spacious, beds are a bit weird to get used to but provide great sleep nevertheless. Staff was very nice.
However, there is no refrigerator and you need to request one and there is limited supply.

I liked the experience (except that my room is next to an elevator), until I came back and realized that I left something important in the hotel room.

I called the fount desk and once they know I was calling about this lost item, they immediately put me on hold.and I was so silly and waited on the phone until it hanged up automatically. I don't know what happened, but since when a hotel front desk can be so arrogant?

I just called again to make sure I was not mistaken (Time: July 14,10: 28PM ET), and yes, I was put on hold again.

Great location, friendly staff, and spacious rooms. Very centrally located within walking distance to Metro stations and monuments. While the room did not include a fridge, there were MANY cafes, eateries, and restaurants very close by. Would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is advertised as a 4 hotel and it is nowhere near 4 stars, 1.5- 2 stars at best. The moment I pulled up to the hotel, I had a bad feeling. The hotel looks very ran down and looks more like a high rise motel. The sign outside says parking is $50 but the guy at the front desk, told me $60. The elevator is small and smelly. The hallways are dingy, dirty and smelly! The rooms are dirty, dingy and outdated, the beds are hard and uncomfortable, the sofa in the room is old and dirty and so is the carpet. The bathroom is dirty and tiny. I’m sitting in this room as I write this review and this by far is the worst hotel I’ve stayed in and I feel so uncomfortable. My stay is supposed to be 3 nights but I don’t think I can bare to stay here another night. I called and tried to checkout early and get a refund for the next 2 nights but the site I booked through reached out to the hotel and they denied the request. Please, please, please, so not waste your time and money coming here, you’ll regret it! You are better off staying at Best Western or Courtyard hotel because this one is not it at all!

Very spacious room, but Odd smell in room, AC didn't work, inconsistent service. Also, a black colleague of mine at the same conference was asked to pay for everything up front plus a deposit. I, a white woman, was only charged after my stay. Hmm.

Staff was great! Rooms clean. Quiet. Didn’t try any food. Location was said to be good; I did not find it convenient.

Great location, however, the quality of this hotel is poor. Basic amenities they lacked such as appropriate utensils. Another thing that was a BIG red flag when I checked in was that the door man announced my room number aloud in front of customers. As a single female that was a big safety mistake that showed their lack of professionalism and disregard for safety. Moreover, I requested a mini refrigerator in my room. When I checked in, the staff told me that they would make sure to provide one to me asap. It never came. The ONLY plus was the location.

Room was nice and clean. Employees are all very friendly.
Wanted to drink something at the bar at 3pm and everything was closed down. Parking for 60 dollars a night is a rip off.
15min walk to the White House is great.

All very well. The room is spacious and clean. The attention without any problem. Room service very good and staff very willing to help. The location is excellent close to points of interest. The hotel very clean and neat. The only thing is that it does not have parking and valet parkin is very expensive at 60 dollars per day

This hotel has Absolutely terrible service it’s definitely not a four star hotel the lobby looks nice but as soon as you go in the elevator it instantly downgrade the manager was incredibly rude they didn’t even give us the room we paid for and gave someone the room we was sleeping in at the time after we already checked in a while ago. Then I get charged an extra $250 for smoking when they admitted there was no proof that I smoked in there which I didn’t smoke in there. This place is a scam pretty much!

The location is great, and some of the front desk people are nice (some were questionable). However the good kind of stops there.

It’s a “4 star” hotel, that charges a $30 a day resort fee when it’s no more a resort than a courtyard inn. That being said I would take any Marriott or Hilton over this place. The whole hotel smells like weed and cigarette smoke. The floors are super dirty and the showers are too. The ceiling showed signs of water damage, the lamps were bent out of shape. And housekeeping doesn’t replace the sheets, they just make the bed, and I sure bet the pillows are sitting on the dirty floor while they do it. If you aren’t going to replace my sheets don’t touch them. And unlike what you will see in the owners response about people appreciating the old style, it’s not the style that’s the problem, it’s the fact that the carpet, walls, and ceiling all need to be replaced, sure replace them with the same stuff the styles not bad, it’s the fact that McDonald’s is just as clean. I mean the air vent has either a good amount of dirt or a little bit of mold on it, with should get dusted between guests, or at least every once in a while.

I did get my full deposit back (except what they keep for the resort fee) so at least they didn’t charge me for all the existing problems, but still could never recommend this hotel.

Not a 4 star hotel. Would say more of a 1, gave motel status. Horrible service, walked into the hotel and wasn’t assisted one bit. The most I got was, “the bell cart is there. ”Horribly slow elevators, old technology from Wi-Fi to TV, wallpaper looks like grey tone blood splatter. Bathroom roof was literally starting to fall down. Spiderweb on the light fixture above the front door. Annoying ticking sounds from fire alarm all night like it was a clock working. Smell of weed coming from upstairs bathroom, someone was smoking indoors. No use in valet when you are parking the car outside. Over priced and over reviewed. Do not book this.

The staff here are Amazing friendly and helpful, I love the fact that you have to use your key for the elevator definitely made me feel secure and the restaurant and rooftop was a great Atmosphere we really enjoyed ourselves

The hotel was clean and I liked that it came with full size fridge, dishwasher, stove, and sink. Only downside was fridge didn't stay cold. Staff was nice.
