Josué and his team did a great job with my basement work. We were trying to make the basement a more usable/safe space - not looking to make it a finished basement - and Josué completely understood/respected the level of work we needed and could afford.

They not only executed things well, but they also gave several suggestions during the build and explained their value without any pressure I have received in the past from other contractors. We are thrilled with our new backdoor, basement stairs, interior drain, and foundational wall support.

We have plans to remodel our kitchen at some point, and I look forward to hiring them again.

JR General Contractors went above and beyond. Their know of what was going on with the floor that needed structural repair was priceless. They were an answer to my prayers. The work was impeccable and timely. I would definitely recommend them for any project. Josue' and his team did a great job and provided quality work.

Josué and his team performed a lot of work at my condo, removing siding to re-flash and seal my rooftop door frame, as well as installing a new door. They are efficient and do high quality work, and they take the time to answer any questions and explain what's going on. Would absolutely hire again.

We recently used JR Construction to remodel my new office. Not only were we extremely satisfied with the end result, but we appreciated the attention to detail and frequent updates throughout the process.

February 2018 - I used JR General Contractors LLC to do a total rehabilitation of our master bathroom in our apartment in SW Washington DC, removing a bathtub and converting the space into a walk-in shower, plus converting a nearby closet to hold a small combo washer/dryer. Josue and his team did a very good job. Josue has a good group of subcontractors - plumber, tile layers, electrical - that did professional work in a timely way. Josue and his own crew pay considerable attention to detail and did a good job in taking care of drywall repairs and installation of all hardware and new furnishings. They provide good value with close attention to detail. And they completed the job in 4 weeks, when they had originally estimated 5 to 6 weeks. I expect I will use JR General Contractors for some planned further renovations to our apartment. They are professional.

March 2020 - Two years later I again used JR General Contractors to do further renovations - this time to totally reconfigure the kitchen in our apartment. This involved my purchasing (almost) all of the materials in close consultations with Josue and paying JR General Contractors for the labor and sub-contractors that they supplied. The work was done in about four weeks, as planned, and according to the budget I had worked up. Josue's team demolished the old kitchen, installed new wood flooring, new base cabinets, new appliances (fridge, stove, dishwasher, above-range microwave), new doors on the wall cabinets, and a full tiled back-splash. They also did some wiring (for lighting and installing all GFCI outlets), some duct work (to put in external exhaust range vent), and some plumbing (ice maker, new sink). No complaints. Kitchen looks good and works well. JR General Contractors provided good value and professional work.

White kitchen photo is of old kitchen; brown kitchen is after renovation.

Josue from JR General Contractors reached out to me to schedule an appointment for a free estimate to re-brick my outdoor stairs that have been crumbling over the years, and he arrived on time on the day we agreed to. He was very professional and quite engaging during the site visit, which gave me a greater level of confidence that he understood my concerns and that he knew how to address them. I received other estimates, but Josue provided me the most comprehensive and best value for my money. He rescheduled the start-time due to weather, which I was grateful for. When the team actually arrived, there were 4-5 men who worked from 8am to at least 5-6pm on the first day. By the second day, the 3 men who came back to complete the job, was done by mid-afternoon. The stairs look amazing! I will definitely be hiring Josue for future work that I would like to complete by the end of the year and would highly reocmmend him. Thanks Josue!

JR added a full front porch and rear dormer addition to our house. They came in with a very competitive estimate. They were great to work with and very responsive to the final design that we wanted. They were very thorough with any suggestions that they thought would complement our design. They were great about maintaining a clean work space. They made sure to clean up everything at the end of each day. Since they began working on the porch we have had countless neighbors that we've never seen before stopping by to look at the house, commenting and asking questions. We will be sure to call them for any future projects.

DO NOT hire JR General Contractors LLC to renovate your home. They are deeply incompetent, have serious money problems, sloppy workers, and your project will take forever and might not ever be completed. We hired JR General Contractors LLC to partially gut and renovate our 3200 square foot home in Washington, DC. They were incapable of obtaining permits on their own. In fact, my wife and I had to take time off of work to spend countless hours at DCRA understanding what was required for various permits, obtaining the information required, and then meeting with members of DCRA to answer questions in order to obtain the permits. We received a stop work order because JR General Contractors LLC took down the entire back exterior wall of our house. My wife and I again spent countless hours at DCRA to resolve the stop work order, and we were ultimately fined $4700 due to JR General Contractors LLC’s extreme lack of basic skills. JR General Contractors LLC lied by stating that the back exterior wall created a safety issue and had to be taken down, but they simply lacked the skills to make repairs to the existing exterior wall to support a new balcony. When they demolished our back exterior wall, they put most of the debris in the drain in our backyard. During a heavy rainfall, our newly renovated basement flooded with liquefied feces. It cost us $6,300.00 to remedy the damages. They made various crucial mistakes that cost us several thousand dollars to correct. For example, they cannot measure to save their lives. They improperly measured the space for the kitchen cabinets, wet bar cabinets, and basement bathroom vanity. None of the plumbing was properly connected, so it cost us $7,200.00 to correct the plumbing. They failed 21 construction inspections, which demonstrates their gross incompetence. Around 45% of the renovation remained incomplete, and they demanded the second to the last payment covering 90% of the project. When we asked them to complete the repair items that past payments covered, they walked off the job. It cost us $67,770 to hire other contractors to complete the job. They trashed our house with construction equipment, trash, and debris. It took our new contractor five full days to clean out our house. Their work was sloppy, not up to code, and they took unacceptable shortcuts to complete each repair item. The electrical subcontractor asked us for payment because JR General Contractors LLC never paid them. Our contract listed a completion date of September 10,2018. In September 2019, JR General Contractors LLC walked off the job, which was one year after the project was supposed to be complete. Their project manager has a criminal history, which is publicly available through a Google search. We fired the project manager about mid-way through the project because he is dishonest, could not answer any of our questions, and has no real construction experience. We also would not recommend their architect. He copied our neighbor’s blueprints, and refused to draft a narrative response to accompany the blueprints as required by DCRA. My wife actually drafted the narrative response for the architect. Save yourself time, money, and sanity: STAY AWAY from this team of criminals.

This is the worst contracting company ever! DO NOT USE THEM! We hired this general contracting company to renovate our home from top to bottom. When we first decided to use this company, everything was going well. Once they started to work on our house we started receiving nonstop “Stop Work Orders” from the DCRA. We even received an infraction from the DCRA that WE, the customer, had to fight by ourselves with no support from the company. The day we moved into our home, there was a stench coming from our basement that smelled of urine. The wife of the general contractor came to deodorize the basement sub floor before the actual floors were installed in the basement. These people LIE! Do not trust them. They have turned their backs on us and are treating us as if we have done something wrong! We have let so many things go under the radar because we trusted them and THOUGHT we had a good relationship with them! There were TWO SUBCONTRACTORS THAT CAME TO OUR HOUSE REQUESTING PAYMENT FROM US AFTER WE HAD ALREADY PAID OUR GENERAL CONTRACTOR. We made EVERY payment to JRGC on time and they had no issues receiving payments from us. All we are asking for now is to meet with the general contractor and we are getting the runaround from his project manager. WORKING WITH THIS COMPANY HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE! If you do choose to move forward with them, I BEG YOU TO PLEASE DOCUMENT EVERYTHING! They will try to twist your words. We feel betrayed and left in the dark! If we could leave zero stars we would.

JR's did a beautiful job hanging shelves in my apartment under a tight timeline for a very reasonable price. I love the way it turned out. Not to mention, their customer service is second to none. They've got great, friendly people who really care about you and the work they're doing for you.
