Bodega Spanish Tapas & Lounge reviews
13I went there with my family! We loved the food it was tasty. The service was good as well. Our server Melvis was attentive and recommended a few dishes and we really enjoyed all his recommendations. He was amazing. The five stars are for him.
Service is good but the food is mediocre and expensive. We ordered paella for 4 and asked several times for the rice to be Socarrat (the paella crust or the crispy bottom and is the most flavorful part of the dish). We reminded the waiter several times and he assured us the chef understood. He did not as the paella came out soft and moist on the bottom. Note sure this place understands how to make paella correctly which is not good since it is a "bodega. " We couldn't ask for a redo since it takes 30 minutes to cook. Told the waiter but nothing happened. IT wasn't worth making an issue just know that this place doesn't get it.
Individual tapas were small in portion and tasted.mediocre.
Wine was ok but very expensive.
I would pass on this place unless you have no other choice.
The tapas were delicious. The calamari and octopus were great, the “Gabas” were okay. The paellas were delicious. The paella is delicious and the white wine is a must.
Tried the seafood paella, and hot tapas (shrimps, lamb chop, potatoes, etc), all taste good! Recommended!
Do not get fooled by the menu outside! They apparently have great happy hour deals, but when you finish drinking they charge you regular price, and tell you that “happy hour is only at the bar” after you finish eating and drinking. And charge you regular price.
Respect customers.
Very enjoyable few hours spent here. Friendly staff. Very comfortable
Delicious tapas
This place is absolutely amazing! The food, cocktails and service are 10 stars ️! This is a gem in DC. Melvis was so kind and exceptional with us. Definitely we’ll come back!
We had a good paella and an excellent assortment of tapas. Top it of with great sangria and you have yourself a Spanish feast made for a King! The ambiance is nice and they even offer some outdoor seating.
The manager was extremely rude, to the point where she ruined my meal and the overall experience. The wait staff was actually nice but the lack of leadership and attitude was embarrassing. As a former restauranteur and food blogger, I can safely say that the sheer fact that this person has a job demonstrates a lack of oversight and poor decision making.
Very good Spanish restaurant with reasonable price.
Wine collection is also excellent!
Overall the food was good and tapas were good, especially the garlic shrimp one. But not super price-worthy though since it’s in Georgetown.
We tried this cozy Spanish Restaurant tonite with our friends. Let me share what we ordered and my review each of them over 10: octopus 7, mussels 2, calamari 5, shrimps 6, and Paella 2. We drank Sangria which has less alcohol than Dr. Peppers.
To be honest, food taste was below my expectation but atmosphere and service is fair enough. Will I come again? Don't think so. Recommend here? If you really, truly deeply desperate of Spanish Tapas, you may consider to try.
For years I've been dreaming to find a place with authentic Spanish dishes. This is it! We were outside, and enjoyed the experience: I felt like back home. A bit pricey but worth it! I was visiting so I don't know when I can go back but I will for sure next time I'm in DC.
