Café du Parc, Washington DC

What a beautiful place. The atmosphere was very quaint, there is a beautiful Christmas outside of the coffee shop to die for!

We had the butternut squash soup and escargot to start and the beef bourguignon and the braised lamb shank for mains. We had crème brûlée for dessert. Everything was great except the lamb was dry and under seasoned. We had 5 drinks and our total was 200 before tip.

I popped in for a chia tea latte and chocolate croissant before a meeting. The service was fantastic and the food was perfect. Brought me back to life! They make a real good latte and the croissant was flacky and delicious. My only regret is not stopping by after my meeting to re-up.

Despite their good coffee and pastries, the overall experience is pretty bad. Besides the strong fish smell inundating the café, there were no less than 10 children crying and screaming around. Also, having one set of doors meant a freezing gust will get you every time someone entered or left the premises. On top of that, for a rather overpriced café it's disappointing they serve their beverages in paper cups and don't offer you a glass when you get a bottle of water.

We had an enjoyable evening meal but it’s not the best French food I have had. The French onion soup was very nice, my lamb wasn’t hot and the ratatouille was incredibly oily. The desert, a tart reminded me of one you would pull from the shelf at the local supermarket which was underwhelming. The ambiance was lacking and whilst our server was attentive I felt very rushed, that was very disappointing as our total check was over $200 and we were there about 1 hour with 3 courses.

Very poor cooking for my early morning breakfast. Benedict’s on a dry muffin, one egg hard “poached”, potatoes soft and cold, spring onions looked like they were cut 2 months ago and had no flavour. Hollandaise blunt and tasteless. Serving of eggs Benedict with espresso and “complimentary” fruit (3 raspberries, 9 blueberries, 2 blackberries) was $40. Quite a high price for poor quality food. Service kind. Very short waiting times. Overall: Avoid.

I was very happy to have attended this weekend High Tea.something I gave been interested in for awhile. We were already booked the Willard Hotel.so the friendly staff at the Cafe du Parc reserved a place for me and my boyfriend.the ambience of the hotel easily lends itself to an affair such as this.the menu allowed you to choose the type and flavor of tea.an extensive collection. I chose the Lady Grey Blue and Caesar chose the Japanese Green tea. They offered little sandwiches with lobster, Chicken pate, Turkey and Cucumber. Two different flavours of scones with accompanying jellies.and Devonshire cream and lemon curd.then for the sweets.some chocolate bites, raspberry cookies and jelly roll type swirl. Excellent. Would like to give a round of applause to the following. Deepak Humagain Sanchez, Christina Harris, Saffe and their hard working and creative staff.almost forgot one could also enjoy a glass of champagne. Bravo. I would also like to acknowledge the lady who provided background music from her harp.very appropriate. After being away for two years.we came back for a visit.we ate lunch in the Crystal Ball Room
. As a pipe had broken in Cafe du Parcs usual seating area.due to the Winter storm. December 2022. We ordered the chicken breast on mashed potatoes with french styled green beans and sparkling water. Our server was J. P.a very personable and professional being. Quick and efficient service.the food was as we remembered.delicious.the decor.rich and seasonable.

I gave it two stars because the food was okay and the service was okay but not good. A friend and I ate here for convenience because of its proximity to the National Theater where we were going to a matinee. We really expected better from this place. They charge $6 for a bread basket. A lot of places are starting to charge for bread now. (shrugs). French bread is known to be crusty, but not hard as a rock. When we went through the basket realizing that none of the pieces were chewable, my friend reluctantly asked for another basket. The waitress acted surprised. I think she was surprised not that the bread was bad, but that we would have the "nerve" to point it out. I think for these prices they should know better than to charge and serve people stale/microwaved bread. With all of the places in the DC area, there's no reason to return to this spot.

Honestly I don’t know what’s going on. I need to cancel a reservation. I called about 15 times last night and I waited about 30 minutes today after they opened and no one has been answering the phone. I am a very understanding person and if it’s busy at night that’s fine but at least answer and asked to be place on hold instead of ignoring the call. Hopefully this gets out to the owner. I have a reservation next Sunday at 12: 00 for two and we won’t be arriving.

Extremely disappointing. Do not trust the schedule on Google. We arrived on a Sunday. Google said it was open until 10: 30pm. We walked over an hour to get there just to find out it closes on Sunday’s at 2pm. We were hungry and tired. Posting this so hopefully management will update their Google my Business page and this won’t happen to someone else.

We are only eating at the Café du Park for breakfast. I must say it was very lame. The potatoes were lukewarm. The broiled tomato had been sitting around and the coffee was incredibly expensive. All in all a poor value. It is quick, though.

The food was quite nice, but the service let them down.

I ordered eggs, Benedict, an orange juice, and a cappuccino for breakfast. The eggs Benedict came quite quickly, and was rather nice. However, when they put the coffee on the table I didn’t notice there was no spoon. I like my coffee, sweet, but I had nothing to stir it in with. I had to get up from the table and find a waiter to get me a spoon because nobody came back to ask me if everything was well. I also had to ask for the orange juice that I ordered because they didn’t bring it.

How they messed up on the two most simple parts of my three part breakfast order I will never know. Not even McDonald’s make that mistake.

No real vegan option for breakfast apart from a small plate of fruit for an outrageous $16 and oatmeal made with water that was one of the worst I've had. And usually I love oatmeal.coffee was good though.

The most disgusting place where they really know how to disrespect their guests! Absolutely mannerless!
They made us sit in the patio while we were waiting for our hop on bus, then after taking our order, they came up to us and asked us to leave the seats and move to another part of the restaurant which only served cocktails apparently! We felt very humiliated and wouldn't ever go here again or ever recommend it to anyone! They lack basic courtesies and manner!

Tony M was our server and Tony rocked it for us. He had to deal with a total bully at the table next to us and he handled it with grace and humility. The blueberry pancakes were warm and fantastic. Ask for a second thing of maple syrup because they’re small.

Great pastries. Great coffee. Excellent service. Get your pics ready cause the food is begging to have it's picture taken.

Outside dining at sunset very romantic birthday dinner. We will be back.
