You gotta catch the vibe on particular evenings. Basements full of ppl dancing. Really depends on the DJ to set the ton. Would recommend for hh you won't be disappointed with the menu options

Had dinner at saint ex and it was delicious! They keep the menu tight but really execute. Definitely ask for the mango habanero sauce to go with whatever you order. Great service from Abraham and the music is on point.

I heard many good things about this place and wanted to try it out for my birthday. When we arrived, there was confusion about my reservation even though I made it in advance, and it was hard to contact staff to create one. Most of my party didn’t like their meal, and the dance floor wasn’t open by the time we were finished. Also, they don’t have enough bathrooms and do not have great seating for large parties. Maybe a decent place for a quick drink and then bounce.

Classic and long standing bar in DC. I’ve never been for dinner, just for the late night party. Go here, take your friends here if you want to see how the locals get down. I’ve been here dozens of times, the bartenders are always friendly, and the basement is the epitome me of sweaty packed fun, and it’s always fun.

Fun, good music. The bartender in the basement is a beast, brother was on it. Definitely a great time.

Super busy the night I went. A LOT of people standing too close. I guess no one cares about germs or Covid anymore. But the food was AWESOME! Worth the wait! Best burger I've had!

Placed an order for a dinner pick up based the Hours of operation posted on their website. Received a text informing me that my order was ready for puck up. Show up at 5: 47/pm to retrieve my order that has so called been ready for 15 minutes.

Eddie comes to the door, I explain why I am there. He says he go in and grab the order, he never returns.
The bar staff including Eddie are rude, disorganized and professional. I was truly shocked by the lack of care.

Sat down for dinner Saturday night. Service was spotty but when we were served the waitress was nice and helpful. Food, which was Jamaican-ish and SUPER tasty, took a long time to come out but was well worth the wait. The jerk wings were falling right off the bone, it was crazy. Don’t sleep on the coco bread/meat patty combo!

The comedy show was great. Not everyone was funny but the ones that were made the experience ok. The show took place in the basement which was smaller than I imagined but the settings was nice. The bartender was friendly but he could've made my drink a little stronger for $17.00.

Loved the vibe of this place and the location was in the middle of upbeat, vibrant activity. Reasonably priced and yummy bar food and drinks. I'll be back.

Aside from folks attempting to loiter in my face to get in front of the °rotating ceiling° fan, and trying to sit on the table that was in front of me, a good time.

Great place to hang out and dance. People and hosts are very friendly. Security works perfect and kicks out averyone who is about to start disturbing others. So great vibe is guaranteed. Really loved the place and enjoyed it.went alone there but did not feel lonely because of friendly public.will visit again whenever I come to DC

We stopped by @cafesaintex for dinner and a few drinks with the ladies. What a time! Great music, good vibes, and shout out to our friends the security guards.

A cautionary tale for everyone that wants to go to Cafe Saint-Ex:
I went there on 4/29/2022. Ordered drinks for my friend and myself and paid $44.
When I came back home and checked my bank account I saw that not only I have been DOUBLE charged but also OVERCHARGED for $6.80 (total $94.80)
Unethical business practices, shame on you!

Yikes… this place has gone sadly downhill. The food was not up to 14th street standards, more like cafeteria fare, and the drinks were overly sweet and weak. Earnest service but struggling. The establishment shows various signs of neglect and misuse, like the hole punched in the wall of the bathroom and the trash bag over the urinal. This place used to offer a lot to the neighborhood, but seems like it’s fallen on hard times.

Only ate here once. First & last time. Food was great but got home & looked at bank account to realize there were several charges on my debit card. The one i recognized plus several others from this place. So basically the bar staff is untrustworthy. Mind you these charges occurred after I left and were all different amounts. 3 for 10,1 for 18.70, and another for 14.38 around 3am long after i left. I dont live in DC and was only visiting so im disappointed and left a vmail for someone to call me. Have yet to recieve a response.

I like this bar. The DJ on friday night does not read the room. As soon as people start to dance he changes the song. He needs lessons. Otherwise, if you want good drinks and subpar music, this place is great.

Update: Drinks are still good, but the DJ has gotten much better since my original three star review, so, I am upgrading to 4 stars.

Good vibes and good DJs. The bar upstairs is cool and generally pretty chill, but the real fun is in the basement where the DJ spins. I've only been on Thursdays and Saturdays, so not sure what it's like on other days.

You can get food here late, late night and it's pretty good! I had Oxtails on one day, and a beef patty w/ cocoa bread on a different day. Both were good.

Sometimes it can get a little too crowded - especially downstairs, but generally it's a vibe.

This place is cute, drinks were eh, food was good, service was great. Our server Cynthia was awesome and fast, I think she was the only server last night and we never had any issues

This is the second time that I’ve been double charged at this location. I have called several times, left messages and still haven’t gotten a called back from anyone. My friends were also double charged for drinks. I’ve asked for a manager to call me back. They are literally stealing from ppl
