CW is a gem. La Cheeserie is one of my favorite places in the city. Wonderful selection of speciality meats, cheeses, smoked fish and more. The staff is knowledgable and has great customer service. The prices in the wine and liquor departments are very competitive, and again, the staff is wonderful. CW is my favorite weekend errand. It always puts a smile on my face!

A pretty nice selection, but try to avoid the staff. The chance of getting a grumpy old man is pretty high.

Having experienced Tamura Super Market in Honolulu and diverse wine shops in San Francisco, Sonoma, and Temecula, I can delightfully share that the best destination in DC for wine (and spirits) is CW. Customers going on 5+ years, we are always happy with their selection and recommendations. Regardless of our budget, we are treated with courtesy and respect. And their management under the pandemic demonstrated great care for their employees while keeping customers informed of operating changes that best served their purchasing needs. From the parking lot attendant to the knowledgeable wine experts to the awesome deli team to the "bourbon man, " we are never disappointed. Cheers to everyone at CW!

Hit and miss. Good advice, great selection, but last two trips they sold wine they don’t have in stock, wasting time and money.

This is a great wine and cheese experience. CW has a tremendous selection of wine, cheese, and fine foods. Staff is always knowledgable, positive, and helpful.

Good selection of quality wines; especially Bordeaux wines! Very helpful staff! Not the cheapest wines but a wide selection of wines. I would recommend to have presentations by the CW staff based on their "Staff Selections" Why did they select what they selected? Many customers like me would like to learn about wines and how to understand the bases of "excellent Wines" I have admired and been a customer of CW for 15 years and the above recommendations would improve my opinion! What are the criteria for judging the quality of wines? I always get the impression (that may be wrong) that Mr. Sands has built a strong relationship with wine growers in France but is this based upon Wine quality? CW is great!

Calvert Woodley has always been our go to store for parties and just staying home. Before digital we had great experiences in the store and had help from everyone. Since then it has been easy to order and delivery has always been fast with polite drivers.

Hands down, the absolutely best liquor store in WDC. Wide and varied selection of liquor, wine, and beer; fabulous deli; and the very best staff at each encounter in the visit, beginning with Al the traffic monitor!

Always enjoy and look forward to shopping weekly here. I’m especially thankful for the pleasant and knowledgeable staff at the deli where I purchase 3 to 4 different cheeses each week from their advertised list of specials. All the staff is extremely polite and patient with each customer. Although the space is small they manage without delays in processing orders. Few places today offer smoked salmon or cured hams sliced to order and package so nicely. This is truly a unique resource for wine and cheese lovers. Enjoy!

Great importer with unique wines as well as a large variety of interesting wines imported by others. Good online ordering and can deliver locally (at a modest fee).

Great, nationally competitive wine prices. Love the Fall/Winter catalog.

Also sells spirits, cheese and beer, but I know less about that.

A gem of a store. I use exclusively for its meats and cheeses counter, not for its wines or spirits. Also has fantastic bagels brought down from NYC.

Great cheese & deli section, real crusty french bread! Oh yes goid selection of beer, wine & liquor.
