Capitol Square BNB reviews
16 It's the worst. I've never left a review in my life, but I'm leaving a review because I don't want other people to experience it. The people who clean the rooms sing loudly all day while cleaning the rooms. During quiet times, the cleaning people shouted and acted without any sense. If they don't follow it, why should the guests? The person I shared the room with was very dirty. It seemed like someone lived in this house, but he didn't cut his hair and clean up after himself, and left the used toilet paper on the floor. It was just very dirty. I also felt dirty. And I asked them to raise the temperature because it was cold, but they didn't listen at all. The service is very bad. Do not go.
Is the worst I've never left a review in my life, BUT I hope the rest of the people don't want to experience it, so I leave a review. Housekeepers clean the room by singing loudly all day. Those who cleaned at a time when they had to be quiet spoke and acted without thinking. Why do guests have to protect it when they don't? The person who used the room together was very dirty. He looked like a person who lived in this house, but she cut her hair and didn't take care of it, and threw away the toilet paper she used on the floor. It was just very dirty I felt dirty too. And I asked to raise the temperature because it was cold, but I didn't hear it at all. The service is very bad. Plz don't go.
Easy arrival from the airport, quiet area, good breakfast, clean room, guests each doing their own thing, close to the monuments.
This place is the best place you could ever find and So reasonably priced. I love how clean it is and the breakfast n it’s just a great place to be
I would give 0 stars if I could. First of all, the code for our room was not working, so we were not able to get in. We tried contacting the business and the call went straight to voicemail and their voicemail is full. We also texted and email them and no response. We were waiting there for 1,5 hours eating for any answer until we decided to get a different place to stay. After 3 hours and 3 minutes we got an answers asking if we were able to get in and they said they could not answer sooner because they are on vacation. DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE!
I was about to book a room at this hostel and on the website they only accept credit cards! I just finished a phone call with the owner who said that they don’t accept walk-in, they don’t accept cash and if I want to pay with PayPal, I have to transfer the money to her account and instead of 32$ per night, I have to pay 40$!
She said the extra 8$ are a FINE for not paying with a credit card! Be carful!
If you really like overcrowding, lack of hygiene and bedding and bathroom towels in a state that leaves much to be desired, this is your place. The communal kitchen looks clean but is not at all when you take a closer look.
The only positive thing is that it is a 15' walk from the Capitol, but honestly, there are other well-priced hostels in the same area.
I do not recommend at all. Seriously: look for another place.
Never sent me an email with checkin information so I couldn’t get into the building or room. The guest are friendly but the owner did a terrible job and was mad at me instead of apologizing.
Do not stay here. I was a Captiol Hill intern here in 2019 and they packed us in this house like sardines. 6 people/room with 4-5 rooms per floor all sharing small bathrooms. Fridges constantly packed so you won't be able to keep perishable items. Located in an unsafe neighborhood within the projects. Way too many people to be fire safe and and overall awful experience.
Regular hostel. Well located. Not the best dorms but you get what you need (bedside lamp, personal spot to charge your phone.) It was relatively clean. The vibe downstairs was decent. Having a no shoe policy with flipflops that everyone can use is questionably clean. The staff was pretty unhelpful. It's just a business for them. No hostel spirit.
Good location in Capitol Hill at a very reasonable price! Included breakfast is highly appreciable!
I was in a room with 5 other girls. I received all the information to check-in alone by email after the check in time. It was really well explained and I enter really easily. When I arrived I immediately felt secured thanks to all the digicode (one to enter in the house, and one to enter in your room). Someone help me to find my room, but I didn't really understand if it was an employee or a customer.
To use the lockers you will need your own lock.
The common room was a bit clustered but overall clean enough. The breakfast offered is really a strong advantage! I would come back again without hesitation.
They overbooked and cancelled my confirmed reservation a few hours before I was to show up leaving me to scramble to find accomodations somewhere else.
Terrible customer service. They canceled my room a week before my trip. No help in finding anything else either.
For how cheap it is, it's fine. The place wasn't the cleanest and most spacious place I've ever been, but it does the job. Everything worked fine. There are all kinds of people and the experience can vary depending on the companions you have. Very well connected to downtown DC by bus/metro.
It did what it needed to do. Our room seemed clean, but we did find someone else’s toiletries under our bathroom sink. So it did kinda make me wonder, but we were only in for an overnight to go see a DJ at Echostage. It’s perfect for an in/out or overnight. I wouldn’t stay more than a night. Also, if you’re going on a road trip, Thibk to bring an extra pillow. They have a policy we were not informed of until we had already reserved a room, they do not allow shoes or food/bev in the rooms. When you walk in there’s a bench and shelves for everyone’s shoes. I personally did not want to remove my shoes for a few reasons, (had a lot of stuff in my hands upon arriving, didn’t want my shoes stolen, etc) so I didn’t the first few times entering and exiting, and no one really gave me a hard time about it. Downstairs is what looks like a communal kitchen. Several fridges, food, and cooking space. Lots of seating and people working on their computers. Overall, if you’re looking for a step up from camping but not quite the expense of a hotel room, it’s a solid quick spot.
This is a hostel located in the center of Washington, DC between Eastern Market and New Carrollton, quite close to the emblematic monuments (allow about a quarter of an hour's walk to reach the Capitol and the White House.)
I spent five days there and I enjoyed it. The rooms are clean, the complimentary breakfast is well stocked. There is a kitchen with all the necessary utensils for cooking as well as a television and wifi.
However, I don't think it is a place of tourism since the people I interacted with mostly came for work or study.
The host was very friendly and even lent me a travel adapter.
I recommend for a few days in Washington!
