Carmine's Italian Restaurant - Washington D.C.

Took a group here and was very well taken care of! The food was delicious, service was fast and friendly. Kevin, the manager, went above and beyond for us. We will definitely be back!

Family-style portions are an understatement. The bread starter was great and diverse - some sauces, some cheesy, others plain. The fried calamari and fried zucchini appetizers were amazing, and each plate a mountain that would feed 6+. Plan accordingly when ordering the main course.

Always a great place for delicious Italian food. Very family friendly and all family style dishes.

We visited this restaurant while in DC. All the food we got was served in large amount. The Cesar salad can be shared for about 4 people

Went here for a work dinner, and it was a great time. I wouldn't say any of the food individually was anything to get excited about, but all of it was good, and the massive family style portions were really fun for our purposes. Staff were great, space was perfect, and no one complained about the food. Solid experience.

Ordered the Shrimp Parmegiana plus a side of marinara on Uber Eats. Total was $78. The food was terrible, inedible. Nothing but salt. Couldn’t eat past the second bite it was so salty. Linguine was also overcooked.

It was okay. It's not worth the ride from North Carolina all the way to D. C. The plates were huge but tasteless. The only thing with some taste was the Ravioli. They only looked delicious but did not taste as good as expected. Should change the chef to add a little taste.

Very crowded, you’ll usually need a reservation. The food is very good. There are different seafood dishes on the menu and we ordered the mussels appetizer and the calamari linguini. The food isn’t salty which is a deal breaker for me. The salad was also fresh and tasty. I liked that the salad wasn’t doused in dressing. There was just enough dressing to flavor the salad.
The wine was served in a regular glass. I would have liked to have had my white wine in a regular wine glass and colder but that’s ok. I forgot to mention, the servings are huge. So be aware of ordering too many dishes.

I went here with some friends for a lunch, and we had a really good meal! I recommend going for lunch in the early afternoon, because the restaurant atmosphere was quiet and relaxed. However, I’m sure going for dinner would be just fine, too.
The service was welcoming and our waiter was very patient, kind, and gave us good suggestions.
Finally, the food was really delicious and good! I would definitely recommend getting the lunch portion Penne alla Vodka (best shared between two to three people) and the Chicken Parmesan. The only thing to take note of for anyone unfamiliar with the menu is that the cuisine is not truly authentic Italian food; it definitely has New York Style Italian food incorporated. Also, the food was a bit expensive (however, I understand that it is a more pricey restaurant, and the fact that it is in downtown DC). Nonetheless, the food was very enjoyable and I had a great experience at this restaurant!

Great experience and food in Carmines. My son, grandson, and myself love this place. The service from the moment we walked in was perfect. It is country style so we had enough leftovers for another wonderful Italian meal.

Was here for Christmas Eve dinner with my kids and we received great service from beginning to end by our server Morgan H and all of the staff. Carmine's never disappoints.

The pasta was overcooked, the white sauce was not creamy at all, it was a rate of tasteless water on my plate, the lasagna was pasty. I did not enjoy my visit here, I will never enter this place again, I came waiting for an Italian meal worthy of the name and prestige of the place. A disappointment.

Food was good. We didn't realize the plates were family sized portions so we did over order. We were seated next to the window at the front of the restaurant, and every time someone opened the door (which was every few minutes) it made a very loud and long creaking sound so that took away from us enjoying the experience.

Been here 3 times and their marinara and pomodoro never disappoint! The veal cutlet is to die for! The space is wonderful and the ambient music is a beautiful jazz! Will be back for sure

Absolutely disappointed with our experience here. Was really looking forward to the reservation we made for a week. The two of us were seated in a cramped corner behind a large party. We ordered the lasagna and had a bread basket. While the bread was decent, the lasagna was complete mush with the noodles having the consistency of mashed potatoes. The sauce was so bland, lacked flavor, and was honestly a waste of a $40 dish. The manager came to our table to hear us out but we were shut down immediately and told us how lasagna “by definition” is supposed to be like that (?) and proceeded to walk away. The staff were friendly enough though. Would not recommend.

Carmines is always a great time! Take some good company, share some amazing dishes, and have a great time. Everything is amazing, but I do have to say I loved the shrimp scampi!
