Ellipse Rooftop Bar, Washington DC

Come for the drinks, and stay for the VIEW! Our bartender was very polite and made every drink we ordered from memory, not pre-mixed junk. I highly recommend this location even if you're not staying in their hotel. The view is phenomenal.

Ellipse was a nice vibe for an intimate group. The food and drinks were pretty good and were priced well. We got a basket of fries and loaded nachos which they give us pretty big portions of. The views weren’t spectacular but there was plenty of seating to bring your closest a friends.

Earlier tonight I met some friends at Ellipse, which is the rooftop bar above the Hyatt hotel.

The picture I’ve added to this review is the hours of operation posted at Ellipse. Around 9: 15pm I had stepped out of the bar to use the restroom and take a phone call. I was surprised when I came back 10 minutes later to find the bar entrance locked. The bartender opened the door after my knocking, but told me the bar was now closed. I had asked him why the bar was closed when the hours posted right next to where he was standing said Ellipse was open for at least another hour and a half. I was told by the staff “we don’t go by those hours” to which I asked “so then why are they posted otherwise right here? ” The bartender was extremely rude to me in response and told me he would only serve me a drink if I was a guest at the hotel. Eventually I had to be let back in because the rest of my party was still inside, with my belongings, and I hadn’t even yet paid my tab.

Long story short, don’t trust the hours of operation posted on this venue’s description, as it seems they will close for the night at any given time, and don’t try to be served a drink unless you are a guest at the hotel.

Bad prices for happy hour, cheap wine, plastic cups, everything else is fine though. Not bad

This rooftop bar inside of the Hyatt is simple. It's not anything spectacular but it's a great option if you're in the hotel. My husband and I only ordered drinks here, not food. The hours are very limited so it is not able to be accessed much. It was closed 2/3 days we were in town.

The customer service was amazing. The bartender jasmine made my rooftop bar experience 10X better with her amazing Washingtonians and excellent food recommendations. I advise everyone who’s looking for a nice rooftop bar in dc please check this one out for sure

Absolutely stunning views, not crowded, delicious drinks, and make sure you ask for Doug as your server for the best service experience to compliment your sunset cocktail perfectly! Will definitely be coming back!

Very bad experience, The manager or the guy at the bar is an apparently Indian man who wears glasses, has terrible customer service, lied to me on several occasions and did his job badly, makes the hotel and the roof top look bad, He did not give me service at 9 at night and he wanted to close the bar at 9: 30 with the entire rooftop full even knowing that on the internet it says that it closes at eleven, not only was he rude to me, he didn't accept card either, he just wanted cash, and he left me talking only when I asked for an explanation!
