Giant Food, Washington DC

A good store has a fairly large assortment of goods, there are promotions and favorable prices for them.

Great located and well-stocked. Staff is not overly friendly, but efficient. Free parking in the downstairs garage is a big driver for choosing to shop here.and of course the Giant Food value pricing.

Felix from Giant Food at Wisconsin Avenue Georgetown, Washington, DC 20007 provided courtesy to all late night customers even when the store was about to close. Thank you for the attention to detail.

I stopped shopping here because it’s turned into a daycare for junkies and panhandlers. It used to be a nice giant but it’s too dangerous now. I just go to Wegmans or Whole Foods.

The store has good things but the employees not all but most are awful people from the deli and costumer service are nice and patient and the old man who is in the vegetable section is nice, but they are mostly rude and not well mannered employees especially who is in the self checkout and the chopped fruit section in the seafood and some cashiers they are awful and rude and treat people poorly as well the person in Starbucks in always on their phone and it would be good if they would treat people good with respect
I go most of the days a week and it’s the same thing everyday with the employees, please check your employees more often.

Decent grocery, but needs better trained associates, supervision, and professionalism.

Also, a LOT of transients outside aggressively begging and not much done about it.

This Giant used to be great quality. Whoever's managing their seafood section is horrible and needs to be replaced ASAP. They are always opening late and they sell OLD ROTTEN SEAFOOD to Customers.
On 2 occasions I was sold rotten fish. The seafood manager should be able to smell bad fish before they pack it up for customers. They claim to open at 9 am but they aren't usually set up until 10: 30 or 11. I have included a photo of what it looked like today at 10: 10 am.
Be careful buying seafood from this place.

A nicely kept, well stocked supermarket with a goodly number of helpful, friendly employees. My go to food store in Northwest DC.

I really like this particular Giant, it’s bright and well stocked. Great customer service.

I can't shop because I'm recovering from ankle surgery. The team at Giant Cathedral Commons selected the freshest fruits and vegetables and went into the stock room to find Gatorade. My groceries even had a hand-written note! We used curbside pick-up through the pandemic, and it was always reliable. This is making my recovery so much easier. Thanks!

I would not have disliked the store but someone who called himself store manager ask for respect from customers, okay but you show yours first then talk about others. I was checking out for instacart shopping at the end of the day, it has canned beer in the list, he says nothing come to me and ask for my id! Are you the police or something else? You had a long day same here I did nothing wrong why I told get out of the store? Why others told please as a start of the conversation why you come to me and telling me that you want my id without saying nothing at all? Don’t be rude to any customer Lamine Thioune. Change your attitude if you need respect. Be real be honest don’t change your attitude regarding the people. We all same humans at first. Hope this review will help others have a better shopping experience at this store

Really need to have more people on registers and quit relying on self checkout so much. Other than that it's great for a quick end quick out.

The store is good for a lot of stuff but the in the way of working here never would I recommend this Giant to anyone ever again. The workers do not come to work half the time, this store has a high call out volume, over work the workers they do have, that's why not really stays plus people can steal your hours if they been their longer than you and the Union is literally a joke they do not care. Look elsewhere, unless you really want to be disappointed because this place will run you out.

Giant is one of my favorites, for my grocery shopping and cleaning things. It has good prices and is clean and also vegetables and fruits are fresh.

12/14/22- 8: 50 pm: We saw a “checker” verbally harass and attempt to publicly humiliate a patron for entering the self-checkout line from the opposite direction after he picked up large bags of ice (which were beyond the checkout lane toward the store front) while sucking on a lollipop and wearing flip-flops. That staffer, who was at the end of the checkout point with two other Giant employees, one on their phone and another also sucking on candy, were all clustered, barely interested in service. One indicated to another that they had been talking to the manager and did not want to disclose that the store was not busy, stating concern that they would be sent home early.

There’s much more to go on about this interaction, including one with the supervisor’s override card that had gone missing that evening. Frankly, this is a pathetic place, and our experience disgusting. We never want to return to Giant food again. Their poor service reflects Giant’s failure at management and its negative workplace culture, which also does little to improve the professional lives of its junior employees.

Experience was fine until leaving after self-checkout. Saw the parking validation was closed in that area and asked employee standing in front of it where to get ticket validated. She walked away. Then returned to say “it’s at Customer Service, there’s a sign right there”. I thought how rude. If you’re an employee you should expect to get questions like these. Shows lack of respect and training.
