Harvey's Market reviews
4I visited your location on 9/9/23 at 6: 30pm. I was greeted by a gentleman. When greeted I inquired about meat packages, the gentleman handed a flyer with a list of packages. As I reviewed them, he asked if I can step to the side so he assist another customer which I completely understood. After he assisted the customer I informed him of the package I wanted. I asked if I substitute the leg quarters, as I did not eat them. I was informed yes and they held a $10.00 value. I informed them I would like to substitute them for pork chops, which he stated was fine, it would about two for that price. I stated please give me two more. I was informed it would be over my $10.00 value, I said I would pay the difference. Another customer was behind me, he informed the customer he would be a minute, he was making a package. He explained to the customer this was carried over from the former market. He then began to say, this is good for people on food stamps as they are on budgets and people that stay home and cook. I was completely shocked that he would make such a statement. Once he finished making my package, he went to ring me up. He made another comment of your making a regular payment. The comments this gentleman made were completely racist and disrespectful. Why would you assume I wasn’t paying with a credit, debit or even cash because I chose a package and I was black.
Way overpriced, a borderline rip-off! !
We had a turkey sandwich and a half corned beef and half pastrami. The bread was good NY rye and flavorful multi grain. For 35.00 these should have been overstuffed, nope, barley 5 ounces of meat, if that, would not go back, there are better sandwich places in DC at half the price foe 2 of these sandwiches. Forgot, I asked for a side of mustard, that seemed to confuse these people beyond belief.
The best value sandwiches you will have in DC. Also, the cuts of everything are extensive and the workers have tons of knowledge.
