It depends on what you expect. I have stayed in 38 hotels this year, most of them 4 and 5 stars so my expectation of a 4 and 5 star hotel is high. It's what sets them apart from a more affordable 3 star hotel. No free parking is available on the street. You must use their valet service at $60 a day. The one good thing is you do have In-N-Out privileges where some hotels don't allow for that. My introduction to the hotel was lame. There was no one to greet us or open the door which is standard practice in DC in 4 and 5 stars hotels, I've stayed in enough of them. Second, at check in, we were not told about anything in the hotel. Times the restaurants are open, facilities, or anything. The room is quite nice. I accepted a room with the view of the courtyard (well not really and you have zero sunlight) as I don't like street noise and it's $50 cheaper. Shower is a nice size, however it is following the trend of placing it in the room with frosted glass so you don't have any privacy. This means no in and out privileges or children of the opposite sex as you will be on display in or out of the shower. Not sure the point of this trend. The wall facing everyone could easily be solid. After arriving we decided to eat dinner at the hotel restaurant vs going out to eat. It was a bit late in the evening, 830pm, but still within the timeframe for dinner. Even though we asked for the restaurant, we were offered the bar. I was disappointed as I wanted to sit at a table. Further frustration set in as the bar had a different menu, so what I had chosen to eat, and why we selected the restaurant was no longer an option. We ordered hot wings w/blue cheese and chips with guacamole. The wings were good and quite large, but did not come with the standard carrots and/or celery. The chips on the other hand for $18 was ridiculous! We got a total of 20 chips, no refills (those were $3 more). That's basically $1/chip! Then we ordered hot chocolate. It was delicious! However, we asked for a splash of Bailey's and the bartender brought a small, 6oz glass filled ⅓ full. My husband and I looked at each other as we asked for a splash. This however, was definitely not the amount you would get if you had ordered a glass of Bailey's either. When we got the bill, he charged us $20 for 2oz of Bailey's! Also, though there were only the two of us, they tack on a service charge of 20%. We assumed that was for a tip, but how presumptuous. Over all, VERY disappointed in the service. Room and location were nice though.

Me and spouse we decided to stay in new year celebration in DC I love the location of this hotel but I don’t know that was the manager of this location but she was always judging every customer when they just walk in to the reception, she and her coworkers was judging a gay Hispanic guys, I don’t know if they forgot if they’re giving attention to the customers no making them feel bad or uncomfortable. This hotel need to pay attention of that. By the way the waitress it was saying they live tip, when she and the manager was just judging them

I can’t say enough about the location, but I had the worst check-in experience ever! It's not that the room facilities are so bad, but the check-in process was not smooth at the beginning. The front desk said they couldn't find our reservation from booking and couldn't check us in, so they just asked us to wait! After negotiating twice, we were finally given a room after waiting for 40 minutes.
This isn't over yet! As soon as I entered the room, I saw a pair of black worn socks in the corner under the curtains. I don't know which guest left them. It is clear that they did not clean the room seriously at all!
It’s not over yet! The third morning I found a needle in a towel! Yes, you read that right, a needle, a needle with thread! Fortunately none of us were injured.
We didn't want to take the opportunity to blackmail the hotel, we just reported the situation to them. The hotel offered to upgrade our room. We only had one night left and declined because we were too lazy to pack our luggage. Then they said they would waive our purchase at the restaurant, which was just over $100. We didn't think anything of it and just accepted it. But in fact, when we checked in, because we had to wait too long, the hotel front desk already said that we would be given 150 free purchases. The restaurant didn't taste that good, so we didn't want to go back.
Alas, it's a pity overall. I hope they can find the reason and solve the problem. After all, the possibility of meeting such a talkative customer again is not high!

Nice hotel in a best location. The rooftop bar has a view of the White House and the monument. The design of the hotel is stylish and modern. We stayed here for four nights and really enjoyed these benefits. On the other hand, we didn't warm up to the staff until the end. We had the feeling several times that the service was nowhere near four-star level. For example, you don't just put different drinks on the table without saying a word and leave. On the other hand, the cleaning lady on our floor was the friendliest I've seen in the last 100 hotels. Overall: Nice hotel in a top location with potential to improve the service level.

The room is extremely small, much smaller than any other four-star hotel room in the US that I've stayed in (I'm a frequent traveler). The bathroom design was awful. You can't nearly turn around when you're brushing your teeth. The bathroom has NO DOOR! This is extremely inconvenient when sharing room with someone! There's also nowhere to hang clothes in the shower room! The only hanger is outside the shower room, but since there's no door to the whole bathroom at all, that hanger was useless. The front desk was professional though. They claim to have good location but no, you can't see any of those famous places like white house. This is more like a cheap 3-star hotel with minimum amenities, but charges double. Regret a ton staying here. Avoid this place at all cost! Run away, not even walk!

Do not stay here! Hidden destination fees charged at end of stay when asked what this is for was told to access wi -fi and 2 bottle water in room that had been there for some time
Entire staff from check in was rude, charged double for room service when brought up no explanation if why just would refund room was dusty when brought to manager Alexandria attention was told we will make sure we clean tomorrow huh? Why was the room not already cleaned? Besides staff being rude you are charged Hidden fees that are not explained to you during check-in. Not 4 star quality not even 1 star save yourself the grief and aggravation stay somewhere else ***update to response ** why would we need to ask for a different room? You being the manager should have offered. You said below you will continue to try to make this right. We have not heard anything else from you or any other management besides the can response of Merry Christmas
Do better and do not scam folks with your overpriced charges when the hotel is in need of several improvements

Unprofessional customer service! Provided a proof that the reservation was canceled without a being charged a fee, they still went ahead and charged my card. Spoke with customer service representative sent her an email with the communication my wife had online and was told in writing that she can cancel the reservation without a fee or penalty. The representative at the hotel saw the email told me that will issue the refund and rushed me off the phone without providing her name nor a confirmation. Here I am again having the same conversation with another representative trying to get our money back! NEVER AGAIN AT THIS Hotel! My suggestion to management is to invest in training their staff on how to be honest and ethical!

This is my ALL TIME FAVORITE hotel in D. C.and I travel there often. The staff is simply exceptional in every way. We just attended an event at the White House, and Ermilita at the front desk could not have been more kind, professional and accommodating. She made our stay beyond memorable. I truly hope that Ermilita can get recognized in some way by the hotel for her incredible commitment to customer service. I cannot wait to return!

Overpriced and stuffy with very small rooms (bathroom sink is in the main corridor). Not suitable for business trips as there is no desk in the room.

No coffee/breakfast places nearby. The hotel bar takes 20 mins and charges $22 to make a mediocre breakfast sandwich.

Always a good option when in DC. Great location with modern rooms and Pelotons in the hotel gym.

THE WORST EXPERIENCE!
I arrived at the hotel at dawn with my little daughter in my arms, with -2 degree cold, there was absolutely no one at the hotel door, not even a guard, nothing, I had to leave my suitcases on the sidewalk, I entered the reception and the The receptionist handed me a trolley of suitcases and told me THEY COULD NOT HELP ME PUT MY SUITCASES IN.yes Likewise. NO ONE helped me with the suitcases, they have treated me VERY BADLY! The receptionist's treatment was SO NASTY AND INHUMAN!
Then I went to the room and unfortunately for me the sheet that is the mattress cover was dirty with fluid stains, how disgusting, I called to ask for the sheets to be changed, and they told me that they would give me the sheets so I could change them! In a 300 USD per night hotel they didn't help me with my suitcases and I also had to change the dirty sheets! Terrible! The other option was to move rooms.again, without help, with my little daughter I had to gather all the suitcases and move rooms, they assigned me a much smaller room than the initial one.for me THE WORST HOTEL I VISITED IN MY LIFE! In HOSTELS they have better treatment!
Not to mention, the receptionist is an extremely unpleasant man with ZERO customer service.
It should also be noted that the hotel is DIRTY in all the hallways and common spaces, a lot of dust, the dirty carpets, the lobby and the living areas leave a lot to be desired.
It makes me want to advance my flight to get away from this HORRIBLE hotel!

I had a fantastic family vacation at this hotel. The kids enjoyed the pool, and the family-friendly atmosphere made our stay stress-free. The hotel's proximity to attractions and entertainment options was an added bonus. Highly recommended for families!

Nice hotel with great views but the rooms are on the small side and drinks are ridiculously overpriced.

Read any guidebook to Washington, D. C.and everything is "steps away from the White House" without it actually being steps away from the White House. Hotel Washington is the exception. It really is steps away from the White House and the Vue Rooftop restaurant and bar inside the hotel proves it. (There are few better views in the city.)

First opened in 1917, Hotel Washington is a small luxury hotel in the heart of D. C. Walk inside the lobby and you'll see the luxury blended with quirky art and decorations proving D. C.isn't all stiff and professional. It has a fun side too!

For one night, my wife, six-year-old daughter and I stayed in the seasonal Grinch-themed suite. It came with two adjourning rooms decked out with Grinch-themed pillows, blankets, robes, slippers, books, stuffies, toys, and more. They thought of every detail.

After dinner, they rolled in a hot cocoa, egg nogg, and cookie bar. It went perfect while we watched the Grinch movie from bed.

The hotel itself has a sizeable gym, spa, and lobby restaurant and bar. There's valet parking. Service is excellent.

(Our visit was comped, but views are my own. They did not ask me to post.)

I just went to the roof top bar. My only advice is don’t forget to ask for the price of your beverage before, otherwise you will pay 30 dollars for a normal Glass of wine. The place is nice with a great view but too expensive anyway.

Clean and near to all historic monuments, the price is affordable. The only thing I don’t like is the room is too small
