InterContinental the Willard Washington D.C., an IHG Hotel reviews
7Great if you appreciate the historical value. Not as luxurious or modern for a 5-star, $400/night room. Didn’t feel clean, amenities missing, got a feeling that the staff would not be as helpful.
Protesters outside harassing people and couldn’t even get in away from them. This is dangerous. They need a doorman or something.
Terrible service! Never coming back! I paid family packages, didn't felt anything special just a higher bill! Their restaurant in the premises Terrible service, poor food quality! $700 dollars later wasted!
If anybody out there is looking for bargain deals for hotel rooms check out ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙᴜʟʟʏ. ᴄᴏᴍ booked a resort on there and these guys had the lowest prices anywhere!
our stay was wonderful.although, there was mayhem in the streets, I felt very safe and protected in your hotel.
Stayed here last year during Cherry Blossom season and had a good time.
We decided to return this summer to use IHG reward night, and appended it with a 2nd night. They were accommodating in letting us stay in the same room, the only requirement was to update our room keys on the 2nd day).
It was for quite a good price since there's a lack of business travelers and conferences going on. It was extremely quiet and empty during our stay. We were able to checkin early (~1pm) and get a room with a decent view.
If you're driving, they have on-site valet for $59/day I believe, which is a fairly steep price. There is PMI Parking that is only $35/day on G St NW between 13th and 14th which is only a 3min walk from the hotel.
The hotel is very large and has a ton of occupancy, making it possible to social distance easily.
They still have room cleaning (whereas Marriotts have decided to opt for no room cleaning during entire stays).
One onsite restaurant was open, though we never dined in. Room service is available and we observed a handful of people choosing that option.
Spa was not open which makes sense. We went there last year and it was nice to have the steam room + dry sauna available for use.
Gym was open which was greatly appreciated. The bikes and treadmills are "spaced" out with signage, which can easily be removed. On each of the 3 days we went to the gym, there were at most 3 others, so 5 people total including us. This already felt a bit crowded given that you need quite a bit of space for certain machines and exercises.
Outside of the hotel - it's in a great location. You're closely located to Old Ebbitt Grill which is one of the best restaurants in DC. 15 mins walk to Jaleo, a Spanish American restaurant. You are also close to many sights, although most indoor sights are not opened during this time.
The only incident that occurred last year was that I left an expensive sweater in the closet of our room, and realized about 2 hours after checkout. I asked the front desk whether they had a lost and found or whether the maids had seen it. We had a train to catch in another 2 hours, so it was a bit urgent. They were really disorganized when it came to this issue, and it took a long time for them to straighten it out (around 40mins of back and forth, they were prioritizing people checking into the hotel).
Eventually a manager came with the item in a laundry bag and handed it to me without a smile or anything, but it didn't feel like quality customer service. It's understandable that he was a bit tired as there was a conference going on (literally the entire lobby was packed with people), but it definitely makes the hotel 1 less star than a 5 star.
Valet service was horrible. Forced me to park my own car backing it up I couldn’t do it very stressful. Was promised a tub in room when booking.when I came to the hotel there was no tub, I had to wait extensive amounts of extra time for a room with the amenities that I requested. I’m very stressed I came here to get away for a day and wish I had never booked into this nightmare. Also, it says everything about an establishment when you voice your complaints and they are met with excuses and defense. Poor reactions from staff.
I stayed at The Willard the night of POTUS Obama's second election. I figured it would be the best place to be on such a night. Was told by our Brother to get a room, if possible on the 11th floor.he had stayed there on business 4 years earlier.
It was amazing! The staff were so great at check in and my 11th floor room was beyond special! Am hoping to stay there again this coming election night!
