My friend decided to do a quick dinner here for his birthday; I’ve heard so many raving things about it so I was extremely excited to try their ramen. Unfortunately the ramen was not as good as I expected (I had the chicken spicy ramen), and some people who had come before said this was not the experience they had. I guess it really depends on the chef and the day but the ramen did not stand out and was not that tasty. The drinks were good, I had the sangria.

VERY good ramen. Waited for 30 minutes for a table on Friday night around 7: 30pm. Worth the wait.

This place is a neigborhood staple! Everything is great, it's vegetarian friendly, and there's often seats at the bars open for a full menu walk-in. You'll leavw full! The pork is amazing.

Everybody believes that Japanese restaurants have the right to overcharge, but I don't think their price matches their quality, which is decent but definitely suboptimal for the charges.

I absolutely LOVE Jinya! I have lost count of how many times I have eaten here. I usually get some version of tonkatsu, but have also tried the vegan bowl of ramen. The pork buns are incredible, as are all the soups. They have a pretty good selection of draft beers and even include the calorie count of each brew on the menu! I can not recommend Jinya Ramen Bar enough. If you live in the district or are visiting the area, I highly suggest you check it out if your into ramen. If you have not tried ramen in the past, Jinya would be a great first time experience. I must warn you however, you may not find a better ramen spot, definitely not in the district. Sorry I didn’t include pics with this post. I will update it next time I go back, which will be very soon. Do yourself and your mouth a favor and check out Jinya Ramen Bar, you will LOVE it!

Food was amazing! Had the spicy tonkatsu ramen bowl with chili oil and garlic and it was fantastic. The cocktails are okay. Nothing to write home about.

I tried gyoza and fried chicken for appetizers and they were pretty flavorful. I also tried the JINYA Tonkotsu Black ramen soup. All I can say is that the soup’s taste was descent. I expected the spices to highlight the soup’s flavor. Great customer service!

Good Ramen and bar in DC. Pretty authentic ramen. There was an issue with my ramen was not too hot but they fixed it rightaway. We sat at the bar and it's first come first serve, we didn't know when we went upstairs as they were busy. Overall, a great spot for a date, dinner and a drink!

Good ramen not great

Update question from owner what was off about ramen
It lacks the depth of flavor produced by cooking pork bones for hours and bbq the pork belly visit thunder ramen Misawa Japan for really great ramen

Really nice ramen! Wide range of selection to fit all diet restrictions. I got the black tonkatsu and it was yummy, perfect for fall/cold weather.

Staff were amazing. But Jinya’s take on upscale ramen is very mediocre. Nothing wrong with it. But the soup doesn’t have depth, the pork is smoked, and the toppings just don’t work. Not for the ramen purists out there, and not worth the price.

I have been here multiple times. The ramen is really tasty but prices are a bit high. The service can also be slow sometimes but generally it’s a good ramen place in town.

Hidden gem. Looks like a storefront outside. Massive, well done and well lit on the inside. The Shrimp Tempura dish is da truth! A must-have! Great food, great drinks. Everyone should try this joint!

Dropped from the best to the worst ramen place in DC … very unhygienic and commercialized ramen shop … 3 of my friends including me had a food poisoning after eating from here

Ramen is decent, but I have had much much better elsewhere. I'm not a local so I typically expect top notch when I'm traveling in a big city. I've been all over and ramen is my favorite food, and the local joint in Florida is 10x better. Was a little disappointed but not bad at all. Service was great!
