The drinking chocolate was average and the cake tasted like they had been in the case for weeks. Waiting 20 mins for it was below average. Before you wonder how busy they were - they weren't busy. They simply forgot we existed. After reminding them that we were waiting the lady behind the counter said "oh, they didn't bring it? ". It was just her there in that section. There was not a "they" that simply forgot. She forgot but didn't want to take responsibility. It got worse. Then we asked where the cookies were that we ordered and after several minutes she came back and said "oh, we didn't ring you up for those" even though she told us as we were paying that we are going to wish we purchased more. Usually when a business screws up your order they give you the cookie. Literally would have cost them a dollar. Nope. They didn't. Sorry, I am not one of those types that just walks in to take pictures of what I buy for instagram. Did I mention they gave us both the wrong drink? Sorry they really dropped the ball.

The chocolates were great but we were disappointed with the cakes and the coffee, they were just not at the same level with the quality of the chocolates

The chocolates were amazing! I had a scallion and bacon roll, and it was one of the best baked goods I've ever tasted.

Delicious iced hot chocolate - captures the richness and full bodied flavor of a typical hot chocolate while offering a nice refreshing drink on a hot summers day.

Store offers a wide selection, including handcrafted chocolates, gift boxes, and a variety of desserts and espresso drinks.

Beautiful little shop. Perfect stop for a hot chocolate while exploring the shops around Georgetown.

The cashier was friendly and helpful. I loved browsing the shop and seeing the various offerings. I bought a caramel sampler box and look forward to savoring every bite. What I've had so far is so delicious.

Order Chai Latte ($7) and ($7) Spicy Chocolate. For my taste the chai latte was either too hot to taste anything or was tasteless by itself. The chocolate was good too sweet for my taste. A friend ordered a pastry and it tasted so good I wish that I had ordered that instead of drinks. They have hand made mouse and they look so cute. Will return for pastry and outside vibes.

Phenomenal chocolate and atmosphere, 'single-origin' drinking chocolate (produced exclusively from a specific region and ostensibly bearing characteristics from it) is a particularly fascinating offering, worth trying.

I came to Burdicks when it first open and I have to tell you it’s a bit different. The old manager was great and I loved her energy. She knew my order every time I came in there and even recommended new items. Her staff were phenomenal and the cleanliness was great! So sad to see her leave and some great staff members as well. Hope they can turn it around

Hands down the best hot chocolate. Also, their chocolate boxes make a great gift.
They do not have WiFi in store, I had the intention of getting some work done while enjoying my hot chocolate in this cold weather, but they don’t have WiFi!
I also liked their tea, I asked the man who was refilling the shelves there if they sell it, he regrettably said no but he got my friend and I a few tea bags.very very kind of him!

I walked in a half hour before closing, but you couldn't tell from the service. Greeted by every employee in the shop, I received kind, warm, and expert help. There for a small gift for my daughter, I walked out with two single malt scotch caramels for my husband, a small caramel sampler for my daughter, and a chocolate cigar for myself. I'm going back tomorrow for coffee and a croissant. I had no cash and you can't leave a tip when you pay with credit (fix this please!). I literally walked a block to the ATM, got cash, and came back to provide a tip. They have coffee (prepared and bean/ground), tea, pastries, chocolates, and lots of knowledge and grace. I don't know who the employees are, but I was there Thursday night, March 3,2022, right before closing. Thanks, gentlemen!

The quality of presentation exceeds the quality of the staff. Did not seem at all interested in working. Would not make eye contact and scoffed at us for not maintaining some sort of "social distancing". Being rude and losing 7 customers for some misinformed principals is just unfortunate.

The hot chocolate was nice! Little overrated. The desserts looked promising and was impressed that they had detailed cards for allergies and food restrictions such as alcohol. The only thing that I could do a 5 star is that the location is a tight place and you will lose cellular service so it would be helpful if there was WIFI offered for customers

One of my favorite dessert places in the DMV. Their mocha cake, gugelhopf, and orange chocolate madeleines are to die for. That simple.

While life may be like a box of chocolates, you know exactly what you get at L. A. Burdick. High-quality, artisanal, delicious chocolates for every possible occasion.

Founder Larry Burdick trained as a chocolatier in Switzerland, the birthplace of chocolate, before opening the first L. A. Burdick in New York in 1987. There are only six locations in the world right now: New York, Boston, Cambridge, Chicago, Walpole (NH), and DC.

Chocolates are imported from Switzerland, France, and Venezuela. No artificial sweeteners or concentrates are used. Every chocolate is meticulously handmade, and no molds are utilized in their process.

Their trademark product is the Signature Chocolate Mice, which are created in a 12-step process over a 3-day period. The popularity of the chocolate mice has led to the creation of the chocolate penguin and other animals.

In addition to the chocolate mice and penguin, they have an assortment of bon bons, chocolate bars, drinking chocolates, marzipan, and even chocolate-dipped fruits and nuts. And it doesn't stop there. I am a big fan of their chocolate walnut cookies. Not to mention - chocolate raspberry cake, earl grey mousse cake, hazelnut orange cake, chocolate lemon cake, Swiss-style macarons, and so many other European-inspired pastries.

If that wasn't enough, there's a lovely and phenomenal coffee and tea selection. Their coffee is from Devocion (a fantastic coffee roaster from Brooklyn), and their teas are from Mariage Frère (a gourmet French tea company that has existed since 1854).

Step inside and grab a couple of bon bons, a chocolate walnut cookie, and a hot chocolate - the ideal companions for a wintry day. And if you ever need a "I'm sorry" or "I love you" gift, or just a pick-me-up, look no further than L. A. Burdick!

Excellent little shop! Not only is the chocolate sold here wonderful (and yes, it is expensive, but it is worth the cost) but the bakery is also really good. Definite 10/10 would recommend.
