Maketto, Washington DC

I'm a DC wedding photographer who photographed a wedding at Maketto in September '23. The atmosphere was delightful! The staff were quick, the facilities were clean, the space was versatile as well. They were able to serve over 100 guests quite readily. The courtyard is perfect for dancing and taking photos!

Great food and customer service. Food came out looking and tasting great. We got the duck soup and the beef bowl. We accidentally ordered two duck soups, and they took one off of our tab even though it was our mistake.

Interesting Chinese food that is well executed. The Gruyère dumpling, wok fried rice noodle, ko choy, cauliflower, bison and fried chicken were all standouts. Great fun atmosphere. Good music. Even the desserts were well done.

The food did not live up to the restaurants reputation. Im not sure if the owner has changed or the chef was having a bad day.
All the items that we got were subpar. No flavor. No taste.
We spent 50$ per person and had to get McDonalds before ending the night.

I only ordered an espresso and pastry, but the staff were so hospitable that they cleared me a table during early dinner hours, just so I could have a seat to enjoy it. It would've been so much easier to say "sorry we need these tables for dinner", but they went out of their way and made me feel at home, invited to take up space. I can't wait to come back for the retail and the full menu.

Excellent dinner. I’m upset that this was my first time eating here. The food was flavorful, plentiful, and so satisfying. The restaurant is lovely with a nice courtyard. The server was attentive and friendly. Highly recommend!

Always feel welcomed and well served. From main dishes to coffee and desserts everything is bursting with flavors. One of my favorites in town! My all time go to place where I only bring my besties

I’m a Chef and a very picky eater. This was hands down one of the best Asian food experiences I’ve ever had. I will definitely be back.

Dining at Maketto is delightful. The atmosphere is great and the service was excellent. Our server was super friendly and very attentive without hovering. The food was equally as good as the service. I loved the Lo Mein, it was so flavorful and delicious! Highly recommend if you're looking for a good spot on H Street!

I photographed a small wedding here last year and absolutely fell in love with the whole restaurant.atmosphere is excellent.food is excellent.staff… excellent.

The pork bao was the best I’ve ever had. That sauce that goes with it still whispers to me, softly, calling me back for more.

Great first experience dining at Maketto! Our food was so delightful, and the staff were so attentive and proactive. We originally selected this restaurant for its enticing menu and how it was easy and convenient to reserve a table online. My party shared the Crispy Chicken Wings to start, and I was impressed from first taste. What a beautiful balance of fresh flavours! I ordered the Cambodian Style Pho and i was again hit by a bold batch of flavours that surpassed expectations (I don't know what I expected but oh, what a pleasant surprise this was). I loved the soup and I am so glad it is big enough to be two meals so i can enjoy it again tomorrow! Even better, the chicken was dark meat and oh so yummy. My partner ordered a dish that he didn't realize had some ingredients he is not fond of, but that is not the restaurant's fault. One of the other members of the party ordered the Pork Steamed Baos and he described the dish as "very good. " For dessert we shared flaky egg custards and lemony mochi beignets, both of which were not too sweet and made for the perfect conclusion to the meal. The staff at Maketto were always nearby and available to help. I admired their attention to the details, such as making sure we always had plenty of water and napkins throughout our stay, and even taking a moment to wipe up some spilled sauce on the table in between the main meal and the dessert so that we wouldn't have to be in a messy space. The space itself is super cool- I'm particularly fond of the sriracha art! I'm so glad we came to Maketto today, and I look forward to returning soon to try other dishes and explore more of what else the space has to offer. Thank you!

As amazing as ever - all these years! A consistently phenomenal restaurant. The flavors are unique, delicious, and just fantastic. Service is impeccable. Love the team here. Kudos to the chef/ owner for such an awesome spot. Keep up the great work & thanks for keeping your food in the neighborhood! (Thanks also for accommodating special requests!)

This place is INCREDIBLE. Food was authentic and sooo spicy but so addictive. Drinks were on point. Wait staff was incredible- Stella was amazing, can not wait to come back. Amazing meal to celebrate getting engaged- they even brought complimentary champagne! Soo many gluten free options and staff was very knowledgeable about gluten and very accommodating! Absolutely a Devine food experience.

This is an absolute hidden gem in DC! The best spicy cauliflower ever! We had the spicy beef appetizer, veggie rolls, bone marrow dinner, nap platter where you get all the delicious ingredients and make your own. AND the most unique fried chicken I’ve ever had - their signature dish. Every ingredient and spice put into each meal was unique and unlike anything you’ve ever tasted. All the staff are so lovely and truly care about the quality of food and service. You should bring anyone you want to think outside the box and impress them. Oh and they have a special 5 spice honey latte that was very good

Atmosphere is beautiful, staff is so friendly, and the crispy Gruyère dumplings are the best!

Everything is so good here! The restaurant has great ambiance and the service is good. We you the scallion pancakes and gyoza to start both were great but we really loved the scallion pancakes. We got the salmon, rice noodle, and tofu/basil entrees. All were so good. It was really fun to make lettuce wraps with the salmon. The tofu was really yummy.
