Masala Art reviews
16Delicious food and the host/manager/owner took special care of our table. We asked for chicken and lamb suggestions and everything was wonderful, especially the lamb skewers, chicken 65, samosas and garlic chili naan. Adding this to my list of DC favorites!
Great restaurant. So hard to find authentic North Indian restaurant in D. C. Very friendly staff and immaculate atmosphere, decor, washrooms, everything. Take it from an Indian who has eaten the world over, this is worth your time.
Popped in here for an impromptu dinner with a friend and loved it. The service was good and they had fair prices. The dishes we had were filling and delicious. The place is a great vibe in the evening.
Great family owned restaurant. Service was great. Food was excellent and the prices were fair. Easy walk from our hotel in a nice residential area.
I love Masala Art. The manager is such a kind person & is genuinely invested in making sure his customers have a great experience. I always come for lunch because I work in the area & their reduced lunch menu has something for everyone.
Butter chicken is obviously a reliable & delish staple but the lamb is great. The vibes are very quiet & peaceful because it’s not very busy during lunch, but the emptiness lends itself to a bespoke & attentive experience from the manager.
Love this place & I’ll be a regular for lunch.
A warm welcome from the manager as we entered along with great service and fantastic food made this meal an authentic and memorable experience while visiting DC. So glad we stopped in to check it out.
Terrible service. Stood here for 20 minutes waiting for takeout that should have been ready when I got here. Staff was rude and discourteous. They refused to tell me how long it would take, just telling me to have a seat.
This is the second time trying this place and it isn’t good, I’m so sorry. I cannot recommend this place. I love Indian food and it’s the worst I’ve ever had both time. The photo attached it the chicken biryani. This really sucks because the atmosphere is nice. I think they should do something different to the recipes, s tots revamp. The workers here are so nice. I give 4/5 for the service.: (I really wanted to like the food. After paying, I left it there and that’s so rare.
What a great eating experience. Artistic decor, great presentation and taste. Some of the best service I’ve had in DC.
Curry was incredibly salty. A very good flavor unfortunately it was masked by too much salt. We just couldn’t handle the salt. As for service and atmosphere, the host was engaging and helpful. Did a great job quickly finding an impromptu table for two. Ordering was not quick given there were lot of open tables. I was hoping for better food, and won’t be back.
I went to this place with my in laws (from India) and 2 years old for an early dinner… the place was kind of empty but we had to wait at least for 40 minutes for the food (butter chicken, paneer and chapatis) to arrive and then another 30 minutes for next round (chapatis and daal). Service was pathetic, one waitress didn’t speak English, one who could speak failed to understand or answer our questions and one guy who was a supervisor or manager couldn’t spare a minute to listen to our questions.
It felt like he was ignoring us and didn’t want to pay any attention… I felt completely unwelcomed the moment we entered this restaurant.
Have been many times. Food is consistently delicious. Staff is friendly. Atmosphere is pleasant and restaurant is beautifully decorated.
Masala Art has some of the best Indian food, with great service to match. I would recommend this place to anyone!
Food here is really very good! Try the lamb chops and bhelpuri, chicken curry. The people who run the place are the best and take great care of customers.
If I could have given 0 stars, I would have given that. The food is basically canned tomato purée curry. NO INDIAN FOOD, they are scamming people by saying it’s authentic Indian! It felt like it was made by non Indians. Also don’t get me even started on the man (he might be the manager or supervisor), he was rude, unprofessional and we felt like the world revolves around him and we were there to trouble him and not provide business to him. The servers were nice but their supervisor was not.
