Mount Desert Island Ice Cream reviews
19The best ice cream I’ve ever had! Mount Dessert has the most interesting and delicious selection of flavors. Five huge stars!
They wouldn’t give any samples of the ice cream which resulted in me getting a flavor I did not enjoy. What type of ice cream establishment doesn’t give samples? They also don’t have sundaes or even hot fudge. Save your money and go elsewhere. This place was only good pre-covid.
Delicious. Honestly the best I’ve ever eaten. Awesome music. Cool flavors. Good vibes. Highly recommended.
Great staff and superb ice cream. The lamington is one of my absolute top three all time favorite flavors.
I love the blueberry crumble! Probably the best flavor I’ve had.
I like that they offer unique flavors and it’s not the same all the time.
I wish they offer indoor seating tho
Tons cookies in the cookies and cream
Tons of yumminess in the dudes (White Russian with coffee ice cream with alcohol). Fruity strawberry sorbet. So good even on a grey day with rain
Tiny window on ground floor. Not upstairs.
As a Brazilian I've had my fair share of brigadeiros and can attest they serve the perfect brigadeiro ice cream here!
The most unique flavors! We were actually hoping to try OKPB, but were added to a waitlist for that so we decided to walk over to grab some ice cream while we waited. There's no seating and it's more of a quick pickup style place but they have different flavors that change occasionally.
I went with a single which gives you a full scoop and a half scoop that can either be both one flavor or two. I did the real strawberry ice cream for my full scoop and Girl Scout for my half scoop. The Girl Scout flavor was a chocolate mint with brownie pieces mixed in. Both flavors were so good! The strawberry tasted fresh and nothing like store bought ice cream, and the Girl Scout flavor was a unique take on mint ice cream. Overall I'm happy with the flavors I chose.
One of my friends got the pain perdu French toast flavor which actually tasted exactly like biting into French toast which was so cool. They also got the Thai chili coconut which tasted like peanut butter and actually had a spicy aftertaste. Not sure how they did that but it was so unique! While they unfortunately don't do sample tastings I don't think you can go wrong with the variety of flavors they offer. It's a great stop and I hope to come back soon!
The best ice cream parlor, with a rich, creamy serving in a cup or cone (two scoops for me!) in an impressive line-up of creative and delicious flavors. For ice cream in Washington, we give Mount Desert Island Ice Cream 5 Stars.
Good and interesting flavors. Worth the try. Too bad they don't let customers try them before buying (ike all good ice cream places do).
Very creamy ice cream with a variety of unique flavors. Staff serves big scoops and had the option of 1/2 scoops as well. A must have when in Portland.
Single scoop of Vietnamese Coffee topped with a waffle cone. The serving was generous, the scope was dense and the ice cream tasted like coffee and super creamy. Yummy!
Great little ice cream shop in Mount pleasant. They always have seasonal flavors like my personal fav, 4 oranges of the apocalypse. You might need a mask to go in but they do have a to go windows to order from if you forgot your mask.
Bay of Figs is my favorite ice cream flavor on the planet. I live in Colorado and I’ve tried to reproduce it at home with no luck. It’s smooth, creamy, sweet, bitter. So. Good.
My husband and I were looking for desert and found this spot just down the street from where we are housesitting.
We split a flight with:
- Blueberry Sour Cream Crumble
- Real Strawberry
- Butterbeer
- Bay of Figs
My favorite flavors were Strawberry and Blueberry Sour Cream Crumble. You could tell the strawberry ice cream was actually made with strawberries. The Butterbeer wasn't as flavorful as I was expecting.
If you like unique ice cream flavors, this spot is worth checking out.
A balance between some staples and a rotation in of new flavors keep me coming back.
The cones are fresh, but they may run out of the waffle cone in the evening.
The first time I went, I was disappointed by the tiny scoop size, but since then, they have been more generous with the scoop.
I forget to take a picture every time, but the pictures from the other reviews reflect what I have had and seen.
Truly fantastic. My spouse, who is obsessed with trying different flavors of ice cream, declared the Blueberry Sour Cream ice cream the best he's ever had. I had the cucumber lime sorbet which had fresh chunks of the titular flavors in it and was amazing. A gem of Mount Pleasant.
Consistently tragic that it is not open during lunch hours, nor til 10. Picture me sadly buying a single ice cream sandwich from the corner store at 1 pm. Never quite fulfills the craving. Emptiness gnaws at me endlessly like a dog upon a well cleaned bone. 5 stars for the life I could have, perhaps, one day, when ice cream purveyors are less needlessly cruel (closed at lunch).
