My Cake Theory, Washington DC

First timer, was pleasantly surprised by my cupcakes. Service was great, the flavors were explained in detail. I selected a lemon crumb, chocolate galore, coconut cake & turtle flavored.

Sorry, I devoured the coconut one. It's flavor was outstanding.

Supporting a women, black owned business is literally icing on the cake, lol.

Please stop in you won't be disappointed. It's definitely not my last trip.

Perfect location for a stroll around Eastern Market. I came in at the end of the day on Sunday and they still had a decent selection left and only 1 other person in line. I chose 2 pre-made cupcakes (they have a select-your-own toppings option) and took them home. I'm pretty picky about cupcakes, they need to not be gummy but also not too dry, and frosting can't be too sweet. I was delighted to report that these were excellent! The confetti cake one had good flavor and the mini dipped bundt on top was good too. Had the peanut butter one the next day and it was still fresh. Not sure I loved the chocolate cupcake flavor on it's own but with the peanut butter it was really tasty.

They have many kinds of cupcakes, so we had a hard time choosing.
We especially love their banana pudding and the chocolate peanut butter one which the male clerk recommended us (sorry we forgot the cupcake name).
If we go around Eastern Market, we will drop there for those cupcakes.
And also they decorate really nicely inside.

These are THE BEST cupcakes I’ve ever had! Put it an order for 15 cupcakes for my birthday and everyone loved them! Perfectly moist, and delicious but not too sweet! They did the icing perfectly and I’m just so impressed! Worth every penny and I can’t wait to come back for more! If you’re debating between this spot and one of the shops in Georgetown, CHOOSE THIS ONE! You will not be disappointed!

Last weekend got the opportunity to travel from GA to visit DC. I LOVE Cupcakes so I was super excited to run across this bakery:

Pros- Loved the ballon wall and set up of the location. The young man that helped us was very nice. He explained what cupcakes they had and what he could create. We picked strawberry shortcake, salted carmel, and lemon blueberry.

CONS-
Owner- She was super rude to the youmg man helping us and also didnt even acknowledge us. The staff was working on two cupcakes orders already and she didn't come up to help them or acknowledged us.
Review of Cupcakes- They are well decorated but that is about it

STRAWBERRY - Tasted like it was flavored with extract. There were no actual strawberries in the cake. The Buttercream was ok not to sugary.

Salted Carmel- The cake itself had no flavor and the buttercream way to sweet.

Lemon Blueberry had Blueberry which was nice but didn't taste the lemon!

Honestly I would have gave it a 1 but the young man was super helpful. Tip to the owner never get to superior to speak to your customer and stop demoralizing your staff. Exceptionally in front of customers. I wouldn't recommend this business.

Ordered a few dozen cupcakes for my mom's 70th birthday.absolutely divine cupcakes; not too sweet and incredibly moist. Thank you to all the staff for being so kind and friendly!

All I can say is, OH MY! This place serves some of the most delicious cupcakes I’ve had in a long while and the owner is absolutely charming. Definitely going back on my next trip to DC.

My Cake Theory has the best cupcakes I’ve ever had and now I can vouch for their cakes too! I’d never had cake from there until last week. My birthday cake! It was dynamite. I ordered a 6 inch 3-layer neopolitan (strawberry, chocolate and vanilla) cake with white buttercream icing. She said my cake order was boring. It was perfect! The cupcakes and cake are moist and yummy and the icing is delicious! I will not order cakes from anywhere else. They aren’t cheap, but worth every penny. The only think I’d like is price list on the website for cakes.

Ordered 12 cupcakes for my mom’s birthday and they are all amazing! I absolutely love the customization option which kicks Georgetown Cupcakes and Sprinkles out of contention. Even a day after we ordered them they were still fresh and delicious. Perfect location, friendly, patient and knowledgeable staff. Would highly recommend to anyone who is searching for a great bakery to cater any event or just simply a last minute decision.

Visiting DC and My Cake Theory daily for a fix of delicious cup cake heaven! The Banana Pudding cupcake. OMG. The cake is moist, lovely notes of banana "bread", icing is perfectly smooth texture and amount of sweetness, and together, just perfect. The owner could not be any sweeter herself. ️️

We got assorted cupcakes for a baby shower and they were the most beautiful things ever. BUT they also tasted really good! Better than any other of (over-hyped) cupcakes in town. This place is where you want to go.

We ordered 2 “build your own” cupcakes: lemon & chocolate. Both were delicious and moist. Can't wait to return to this black-owned bakery!

Stopped here on a whim and was not disappointed. We got the Carrot cake and Raspberry white chocolate cupcakes and they were incredible! Some of the best cupcakes we have ever had!

Incredibly delicious and absolutely love the concept of building your own cupcake, which includes the cupcake, filling, icing and topping.

The cupcakes created for my daughters 1st birthday were beautiful and delicious! I had chocolate cupcakes with caramel filling and classic vanilla with strawberry filling and both received rave reviews, but I think the classic vanilla with the strawberry filling came out on top They were really a hit, everyone loved them and asked who made them… you will get some new customers for sure. I can’t wait for our next event?

Best cupcake place in DC! The flavors pop, the cake is moist and fluffy, and the frosting is light and not too sweet. They made several dozen construction themed cupcakes for my 3 year old's birthday that turned out amazing.sadly I forgot to take a photo, but I will definitely be coming back here for the next birthday event.

My colleagues were satisfied with the cupcakes from here. The cupcakes were all very moist. I will definitely be back. I love that this is a black owned Business ️
