National Museum of the United States Navy reviews
10 It's a nice place and quite special because it's on an active US Navy Base.
They are in the process of moving quite some stuff since they are getting a new building. So what was on exhibit was limited, but nice none the less.
The National Museum of USA Navy is a remarkable tribute to the nations naval history. Its a must visit for anyone interested in maritime heritade and military history
Interesting museum, unfortunately they are half closed due to a upcoming move to a new building.
Cool to be able to walk on an active US Naval installation.
Although the museum is currently "moving" and therefore many exhibits are not accessible, 5 stars are still given for what you can see. Went with luck. You should report at the gate to the yard and wait for a guide, otherwise security will call you back. There was a tour of the museum.
Small but fine and very interesting.
ATTENTION only open on Saturdays
The National Museum of the United States Navy offers a captivating journey through naval history. Visitors should be aware that the security process can be time-consuming, so completing it well in advance is advised. However, once inside, the museum's exhibits are truly exceptional. From interactive displays to historic artifacts, the collection offers a comprehensive overview of the Navy's rich heritage. The attention to detail and the depth of information make for an engaging experience. The knowledgeable staff adds value, providing insights and answering questions. Whether you have a personal connection to the Navy or simply have an interest in military history, this museum is a must-visit. Despite the security process, the National Museum of the United States Navy delivers an excellent educational and immersive experience.
The website says it is open to the public on Saturdays but the guard would not let us in this morning. He said it is only open to military personnel. We made a trip here on false information and it cost a lot of time and money.
In the beginning of remodelingbut here for a special function. Really interesting. Need to come back after renovated.
Very small, poorly organized museum.
In the process of deep renovation. 'but there is a lot of work!
Guided tour promised not realized.
To flee
Attempted to visit on a Saturday (4/15/23) at 11am which according to the website meant it should've been open. The guard at O St told us only people with government IDs are allowed inside, and even those with IDs are unable to escort anyone. So I would consider this musuem closed to the public, which would've been nice to know ahead of time.
Don’t waste your time if you don’t have govt clearance - you can’t get in to the museum as a civilian
