Best quiche I have ever had hands down. The consistency was creamy and incredibly rich with a good mix of veggies. I cannot recommend this place and plate more.

Friends and I made a reservation through OpenTable to go there for afternoon tea on a Sunday, not realizing it’s only served on Saturdays.
When we got there, we were disappointed but the service was excellent from wait staff, manager and bartender very apologetic about the blunder and gave us a beautiful plate of delicious French macarons to make up for not having a tea service.
Their cocktails ranged- the Vesper was very strong and gin-heavy but the Garden G&T was delicious
For food, we shared some appetizers. Crispy Brussels Sprouts were subpar. The apple cider reduction made the taste extremely acidic and difficult to eat.
The Brie en Croute was average
We were shocked at how little the servings were for the cheese and charcuterie board, especially for $26.

Overall, our experience was average at Opaline but I would definitely be open to going again for the afternoon tea as well as trying some more of their plates.

My wife and I went here for afternoon tea to celebrate our anniversary. We had a wonderful time on all fronts. Our server, Katharine, provided excellent service. We'll look to come back again sometime.

I took my parents here for brunch on Christmas. They were visiting from North Carolina. I chose Opaline because I thought we would have a relaxing Christmas meal there.

Our experience started out great until we ordered our dinner entrees. It took over 30 minutes to receive our food after placing our order. When we asked our server, Abderrahim, why our food was taking so long to arrive. We also brought to his attention that other guests who came into the restaurant well after we arrived, received their food before we did. The excuse he gave us was that the other table ordered more “courses” than we did. Of course, we were outraged at Abderrahim‘s response. When he offered to go back to the kitchen to check on our order, he did not come back to our table to provide an update until after we received our food. He never asked us if our food was satisfactory. Marlos, the bartender, ended up going back to the kitchen to find out when our food would be delivered to our table. The reason we were even interacting with Marlos was because we requested that my Mom’s second chocolate martini be remade because it was much worse than the first one she ordered. I will say that Marlos was very accommodating and made every attempt to ensure we were satisfied with our experience. Hence, why I am giving my review 2 stars. He was very pleasant. Abderrahim’s should have been the one to ensure our concerns were addressed not the bartender.

After we started eating our meal, Abderrahim informed us twice that the manager would soon arrive at our table to speak with us about the long wait time. He also informed us that they would be bringing out complimentary desserts of which we were not asked what we wanted. The manager, who did not tell us his name, finally came to our table as we were closing out our bill. When he came to our table, we could barely understand him as he was speaking through his mask. His apologies were very disingenuous. We could definitely tell that he was dreading the conversation because of his demeanor and the fact that it took him a long time to come to our table to address our concerns.

When we finally received our food, my Opaline Smashed Burger was not hot, and the bun was crispy, as if it sat in the oven for a long time. Quite frankly, our experience put a damper on our Christmas holiday. Surely, preparing a hamburger is not difficult.

We have never experienced this type of service. Given that the Sofitel Hotel is a top-notch, international brand, we expected far more than what we received.

I emailed Cece Jones, Food and Beverage Manager and who called me a few days before Christmas to ensure we had a copy of all the menus, to share our experience. As of this post, we have not received a response from her. I emailed her on December 27,2022. Needless to say, I will not be going back. For the price, quality of the food, and service, I do not recommend this restaurant.

My girlfriends and I did afternoon tea at Opaline. We have been to quite a few teas in the DC area and this was by far our favorite! The service was impeccable and we were able to get multiple teas as opposed to sticking to just one each. We will definitely be going there again!

Last night was my first visit to Opaline. The bartenders were incredible - every one of them was attentive and their service and friendliness made us feel welcome, even when the bar got busier. We had a great conversation with Hiyaw, the bartender from Ethiopia, who speaks better English than most US citizens!

My husband travels to DC often and raved about this place. I can see why. The drinks and snack food we had were all great and the atmosphere was just right. This is more than a typical hotel bar - check it out for yourself!

The place was really nice. They had good food and great service.

They were attentive and answered any questions I had about the menu and drinks. They had folks that were knowledgeable of the menu, the drinks, and what pairs nicely between foods and drinks.

A very nice date night as well as relaxing atmosphere overall

Met a couple for dinner. We started with cocktails, switched to wine. Had salads, then entrées. Service was ok, but a bit disorganized. Salads (butter leaf and beet) were fresh and tasty, with just the right amount of dressing.

The staff were really nice, but the food was mediocre and incredibly overpriced. $50 for pancakes, bacon, tea and orange juice. Wild.

Ordered the steak with both my girlfriend and I. After 60 minutes the bartender said the kitchen was backed up and apologized a second time for delay. When it did come out, order wasn’t right and steak was tasteless, cold, and not worth the price. Probably one of the least appetizing meals I’ve had and with my work per diem was a waste.

I had a very high expectations of the brasserie being in a prestigious hotel brand but I was disappointed by the choice of food in the menu, which I thought was modest at best. The server however was absolutely great and definitely saved the evening from being disastrously ruined.

Stayed at the hotel for work and decided to grab a quick dinner after a long day of training. The server told my friend and I to grab a table in the corner, we sat for 15+ minutes and no one came over to us to bring a menu or greet us. We were in the direct path to the kitchen, so figured we would move to the bar for faster service. There were 2 others at the bar besides us, we were greeted quickly by the bartender and he said he would grab us waters. We waited another 15 minutes before he came back with the waters and we decided to place our order. We ordered steak and drinks, we then proceeded to see two other individuals sit at the bar and a couple sit at the table we had just came from. All of these individuals received their drinks and food within 15 minutes. We waited over an hour for our steak, which came out cold and not as described. From presentation only, not worth $49, not to mention the taste or quality. The steak was tough, chewy, and had what appeared to be a canned gravy on it. The steak looked like it came from a hungry man frozen dinner. The bartender asked how it was, we told him it was not good, he took my steak away without prompting further and tried to also take my friend's who instructed him not to. We spent almost 2 hours there, and we were very disappointed. He did comp my steak and my friend's drink but wishing we would have been asked for an alternative meal because we both were very hungry after a long day. I would recommend for the price and service, to go elsewhere.

We had a great time here. Our Bartender Marlos was awesome! He can mix the best drinks and is a great guy! Thanks again for this great night with all the good drinks and the delicious food!

We did couple of breakfasts while staying in Sofitel - those were definitely tasty and filling for a day of sightseeing. It's a good choice!

Great customer service and delicious food.

Had a really nice time eating outdoors at night - there’s enough lighting, tables have a good distance between them so you’re not constantly overhearing the other party, and the ambiance was lovely.

We had the plates shown in the attached photos plus a dessert and 2 alcoholic drinks (Litchi at $11 or $12 and D’orange at $18). Total for two people: $150. Both drinks were delicious but the $18 one has a very steep price for what it is. Either way, I’d come again.
