Pizzeria Paradiso, Washington DC

Do not order the gluten free pizza if you have celiac disease and/or are sensitive enough to be affected by cross contamination! I ordered it and tested it using a Nima test capsule, which tests foods to 20 parts per million (the industry standard for labelling a food gluten free), and the pizza registered as having gluten. This was especially disappointing given that Pizza Paradiso goes to the effort of making its own GF crust. Fortunately, I was refunded through Uber Eats upon reporting the issue, but still wanted to share my experience as a cautionary tale for others who may be affected, but don't have the technology to test.

Overall would not recommend you go here, because the pizza was just OK. But other things went poorly also. I do want to give props to our server who was so so helpful and patient with me in beer selection, great service!

I ordered the 12” Macellaio. The pizza was too “bready”, not enough sauce, and not a lot of toppings. I am a larger guy but had no issue finishing off a 12” and even helped my wife with her 12”, so the portion sizes are fine, still pricey of course in my humble opinion, but it’s DC. My wife made her own pizza and did not find it special but it also wasn’t bad.

Possibly the worst part of the experience was the water which was very disgusting, I think they must have taken it straight out of the tap unfiltered. There was even a bug in the pitcher somehow but by that point we had already decided we wouldn’t drink the water and we would order drinks. So then my wife ordered ginger ale, totally flat, disgusting. Then sprite, still flat. Then our wonderful server brought out a can, which was good. I found a cider after trying 7 beers, i didn’t like the selection, however once again our waitress was an all star and found the cider for me.

Casual dining, lots of great options to choose from. Some of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. Made fresh to order and service was on point.

A nice, casual dining experience for unique pizza creations. The Winter Harvest December special was enjoyable enough. And I really enjoyed the lightness and rich flavors of the Genovese.
Also, they will make an half and half pizza if you want to try more than one type!

Was welcomed very nicely, great service overall. The food was delicious and fit my order perfectly. I had a great time eating here with my girlfriend and we can't wait to come back!

Great place to have a couple beers on a DC ride. Look forward to checking out their pizza another day. Service was excellent.

Delicious Neapolitan-style pizza. Service was excellent and fast. There are a number of suggested pizza options or you can build your own.

Good vibes. Excellent beer selection. Server knew their menu and was able to make great recommendations. A 9" is enough for one person, and they're truly excellent! ONE caveat they're not pineapple-on-pizza people.

Great food - don’t get me wrong. The pizzas were some of the best we ever had - but the customer service was horrible - no sense of customer service - very brash and rude. Talked to the manager and she didn’t seem to really acknowledge it either. Might be a one time experience for us hopefully and others might have an awesome experience - for us this is what happened.

This pizza is so good! For appetizer we got bruschetta. We had basil, pepperoni and pork sausage. All was delicious! Service was excellent!

Yes yes and more yes. The oven baked pizza was crisp on the bottom, yet still foldable (if you like to eat your pizza that way). I thought the pizza was delicious, and the beer was very much needed after my long day of work. I highly recommend the MACELLAIO pizza, and get the 12-inch size. And the sparkling lemonade is sweet, tart, and fizzy all at the same time. The Brocktoberfest was a special pale ale that you’ll love.

I dined here this afternoon with a friend and business associate. He had a sandwich, and I basically was able to build my own 9-in pizza, which was awesome and tasty. The crust was the best I've had in a long time, and the toppings mouthwatering. Our server, Wendy, could not have been more attentive and informative. Thank you!

Such an amazing place. I was expecting great food, I've seen the reviews. What I was even more impressed with was the stellar service!

We got the paesana and bottarga pies, a small salad and bottle of wine. The salad was simple, perfect. It was obvious that they used very good olive oil, we basically wanted to lick the plate.

The pies were so great. The bottarga had over easy eggs and bottarga shavings that made it so mouth watering. The paesana had this wonderful spice from the sausage. So amazing!

Pizza was good, and it was nice that they had vegan mozzarella, but odd that my friend was able to order a beer through doordash that they wound up not having in stock. Also on that the restaurant couldn't give me some oregano to go with the pizza order.

Great Bruccetta, although if they heated the bread up a little it would be even better. Pizza was delicious! Very nice place to get dinner.

I love their pizza. I love the endless options. I love the vegan options. So good!

Sometimes it can get super busy, but the wait is definitely well worth it.

Excellent pizza paradiso! We visited on 5/29 and were given a contact tracing paper to fill out for dining in. I thought it was a great idea and felt safer eating here knowing if someone tested positive and reported back, then we could be notified. The pizza came out hot and shortly after we ordered. Way better flavor than usual chain pizzas and not too salty like most. Would recommend to others and will be back in the future.

Solid pizza place, limited menu these days. Not insanely amazing but consistently good. Reasonable personal pan portions.
