It's okay a average Safeway the employees are very friendly but it is expensive compared to other areas in D. C.

I went grocery shopping here today and it was an unpleasant experience. Firstly, I bought 18 frozen dinners that were on sale, or so I thought. When I went to cash out, I noticed that I was charged full price on the dinners. I let the cashier know and she asked me if the items were indeed on sale, which they were.

Meanwhile, the store manager got involved and clearly was upset at the situation because people were waiting in line. She asked me if the dinners were on sale and I said yes. Clearly annoyed and huffy, she went ahead and marked the items down after the customer waiting behind me went and grabbed the sales tag from the frozen food aisle which proved my situation. The worst part was when the manager cancelled my order, allowed the customer behind me to cash out, and then went back to resolving this store debacle by making me wait unnecessarily. Is it my fault the stock employees didn't update the sale prices in the computer system?

Never during this ordeal did the manager or cashier apologize to me or the person behind me. I've patronized this store many times in the past and this will be my last time shopping there. By the way, I worked at a grocery store many years ago and our motto was always, "customer service".

Pharmacy manager fired my daughter (a black woman) saying she don’t fit their culture! Culture? White culture?

This store has gone from bad to worse. It completely disregards the needs of its community. Its shelves are stocked with hundreds of kinds of junk food and its dairy section is overstocked with oatmilk and other milk substitutes, most of them unhealthy. It is very hard to find natural whole milk or yoghurt. When you ask why, the answer is “we’ve run out”. How come they don’t run out of oatmilk and lactose-free milk? There is very little or no organic food. This store is an example of why Americans are increasingly overweight - they have to consume mostly engineered food, full of tocic chemicals.

This was my childhood Store growing up. I always loved Safeway since it had a lot of good deals on food items and other essentials. I wish they had one here in PA, but they don’t. I would come back anytime to purchase items. It was simple and easy to navigate around as well.

NEVER AGAIN! DO NOT SHOP HERE. It took 1 hour and 30 minutes just to PICK UP a 17 item grocery order that was preordered through their app. Order was placed and paid for through the Safeway app. The order was delayed by an hour, but indicated complete sometime later. After waiting 20 MINUTES in my car at the pickup area, I went inside to inquire. They instructed me to go back out to the car. After waiting for another 10 minutes in my car, I went back inside. The customer service lady yelled at a guy wearing a shirt that said SANITATION LEAD for not taking out my order. Sanitation lead? ! Really? As if I want sanitation lead handling my fresh produce? It was painfully obvious they had not even started assembling the order yet. After the sanitation lead did not collect my order, the customer service lady turned to yell at “Joe from seafood” for a bit. I hadn’t ordered any seafood. It had been OVER AN HOUR at this point of me standing inside watching the customer service lady yell at various employees. Finally I guess Joe from seafood finished scrambling together my 17 items, and he showed up outside- in his white seafood smock and all to deliver the mess. Here’s what was wrong with it:
1. Instead of frozen yogurt, they gave drumsticks
2. Missing blue cheese (DID NOT REFUND)
3. Substituted ICE CREAM for BLUE CHEESE (again no refund, no indication on the app they even substituted)
4. Substituted mini water melon for a full watermelon (no substitution indicated on the app)
5. Replaced 4 lbs boneless skinless chicken breast with 2 lbs boneless skinless tenderloins (NO REFUND)
6. Substituted a $1 can of enchilada sauce for a $5 bottle (no substitution indicated on the app- no refund provided)

None of the substations were indicated on the app. I was charged full price for every inferior substitution or even missing item!

I also needed some clementines that I had forgotten to include with my original order. I went back inside to grab them. The produce sign said “2.99”. The self checkout was broken (of course), so I went to another lane. The clementines ring up as $5. After having braved the grocery store from hell for an hour and a half at that point, I was in no mood to argue. I overpaid for the clementines and hightailed it out of there.

DO NOT SHOP HERE. They should not accept orders they are clearly woefully unable to provide. What a waste of time. Safeway owes me refunds for the missing items and inferior substations, but regretfully I’ll never be able to reclaim that HOUR AND A HALF it took to pickup an order. I absolutely could have just shopped myself and left with my 17 items and they would have all been correct. Horrible experience.

Decent location, Friendly deli staff. Well stocked. No pan handlers bothering you as you enter. I enjoy this location.

Bare shelves. Ad items this past whole week were empty. I tried going at 8am soda still out. San Pellegrino Pompelmo.

11.1.2022 UPDATE. I was on the Safeway app this morning and noticed someone must of made an error. At 6: 30am this morning I went to the store and bought 6,6 packs of San Pellegrino - Lemon. Someone changed the price to $1.09 per 6 pack. I bought 6 of them. Now if you would start stocking the Pompelmo flavor that would be great considering it is San Pellegrino's most popular flavor. SP soda needs more shelf space. No one drinks the SP water.

Dirtiest chain grocery market I have ever encountered. Most customers appeared to be seniors and they were not catered to.
Shopping carts assembled near the entrance blocking entry for people with walkers.
Cardboard soaking leakage from refrigerator units.
However the topper was the rudeness displayed by the manager running self checkout. "Wait in line to ask me a question "
she stated.
Truly a shame that Safeway has such a location that people who either walk or use public transportation are forced to use.

Super easy grocery shopping between Georgetown and Chevy Chase. Lovely produce, specialty items. Older store - small - but quite comfortably quaint. Awesome spot to stop to stock up a fridge for Airbnb, to pick up daily groceries for local residents, or to grab items for things like a Gluten-Free picnic.

Basic type of Safeway kind of reminds me of a market. Couldn't find a lot of thing's the one in Hyattsville Md has. Just stopped by for bread.no 100 cal circle round bread.most container's of fruit were opened.definitely wouldn't be on my list to shop here.puts me in the mindset of a larger 7 eleven.for convenience I get it other than that no reason for me to shop here. This Safeway really impressed me it was my first time there so I needed a little help finding item's that whole store is A-1 the employee's are top tier their demeanor knowledge of the store and products made me feel very welcomed while loading my groceries in my car I realized that my jar of garlic was opened I went back in the store spoke with Tyeisha who made me feel so welcomed and apologized for any inconvenience this may have caused and her professionalism really made me feel good because it's hard to fined genuine people who don't mind to feel the need or concern of everyday ordinary people just out shopping so when you do you should recognize them so I just wanted to say thank you Tyeisha and the whole team

This store is a bit older so even though it's clean, it's age shows. I think better than the closest Giant to them. Does have parking for free. Generally a good selection. Also usually pretty busy so you do have to wait a considerable time to check out. That's probably my only complaint, but not much they can do about that given the amount of space they have. There is a pharmacy here.

Like all safeways, they have a good supply of a wide assortment of items. They have a nice produce section and a nice deli and prepared food section. This particular safe Way is a little small than many I'm used to, and the parking lot is unfortunately, barely adequate. Given those factors, it's location is excellent for people that live in the city and don't want to drive out to the suburbs for shopping for food. It's nice little store, I know people who've been going here for many years. When I'm in this area town and need something I know I can count on going here to get it. Usually worth the trip.

First visit to purchase a hot cooked chicken and there was none, was told will be ready at 10: 45, and I was surprised. Columbia Road hot cooked chicken's are ready at 9: 30 am but to each its own. The self checkout clerk was very nice.
It felt like the North Pole in there, burr.
