Sala Thai reviews
16The food was perfect for a quick thai fix and would be a go to for take out if I lived closer. The service was a bit slow but that was bc they were trying new servers. Also all the main dishes were around $13.95
Food was awful to say the least. Service was pathetic and unhelpful. Ordered Tm Yum soup that had a funny flavor. Ordered Pad Thai beef and asked to make it spicy. It was spicy as hell and had to leave this dump yard of a place without having my lunch. Sorry, how does one run a mess like this and manage to get great reviews on Google? ! Amazing. Could take away the star, but one is forced to add for this review.
Very delicious, had the chicken lemon grass with rice. Very refreshing meal. Place was clean and staff were very nice and service was great. Food came out hot and fresh.
Excellent food. Just happened to come here on a whim and I am glad that I did. The food here is freshly prepared and delicious. The service is very diligent and polite. I would recommend the Pad King dish. It was delicious!
UPDATE JUNE 2022:
Still the same great, fresh food and service. Servings are still big and excellente!
Excellent service! Got to go the calamari was fresh and crispy, tried the chicken pad see ew which was delicious and the u street blues drink was refreshing!
Sala Thai restaurant is a nice place for a good Thai meal.
The menu options are plentiful and even include sushi. However, when we were there at noon their sushi chef had not yet arrived to work, so we were not able to order sushi like my wife wanted.
I got the pad Thai with a paid option of chicken added. The pad Thai was very flavorful and well portioned. What was not well portioned however was the amount of chicken that was added for the extra fee paid.
Overall, I do recommend that you visit this restaurant when in the area.
The Sala Thai duck with red curry sauce was great. I had it about 2 months ago now & it’s still on my mind lol however the veggies that comes with it could’ve been better. The sushi here is great, came here for lunch a few time last year for sushi but they don’t serve it during lunch anymore which is why I gave 4 stars
1st time here normally go to Minn. Ave. The Spicy Thai was AWFUL! Rice sticky, shrimp spongy, I immediately sent it back! The spring rolls had an after taste.this place needs to be updated. Even the menu if different from Minn. Ave.
Every time I go the food is great. It’s fresh and it doesn’t taste like carry out, which I don’t eat. Anyway, it’s a blend of perfect spices and just enough heat. Always great every time I go!
I went a week ago and it really disappointed me honestly this use to be my favorite spot. But it was not the cleanest; the plates looked old and had scratches on them, the seats and tables weren’t the cleanest and lastly it didn’t smell the best in there. Hopefully y’all do a turnaround and come back to the restaurant I use to know.
Took family who were in town there and the staff stared at us when we walked like we were Aliens. Very weird vibes. We didn’t even have the appetite to stay and eat we decided to go eat out at another place. Recommend to stay away if you don’t enjoy being stared at if your black.
Staff was very friendly and conscientious of the mask protocol. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious and there was a relaxed ambience as well.
I order from here all the time yes there food is good this time I ordered through grub hub I asked for shrimp inside my rice which I paid extra for once I got my food my order was incorrect instead of asking for a refund I then called the restaurant and a young lady answered I told her they forgot my shrimp she keeps telling me they put it in there when I know they didn’t so I told her it’s fine I’ll contact door dash, once door dash gave me my refund she blows up my phone the second time I answer she tells me they put shrimp in it again and I know they didn’t she says grub hub is still going to pay us I said ok, she calls again and I didn’t answer anyways I feel harassed over 3 pcs of shrimp which is sad I love this place but I won’t be ordering from here again.
After running errands at DMV all morning, I found this place just across the DMV office and had drunken noodles with pork for my lunch. I didn’t wait long. The portion was good. It was the right amount of spicy and savory flavors. I will come back!
We arrived an hour before closing, so not sure if that's why the quality of the food was not so great. There were also lots of people just waiting for takeout or delivery so the kitchen may have been super busy. Unfortunately the ingredients weren't great and weren't mixed very evenly. The oil on the spring rolls had been reused too many times. Food tasted more like Chinese takeout than authentic Thai food. But even Chinese takeout has a more consistent and satisfying taste. The interior of the place, while pleasant, also didn't look anything Thai. Service was good, if a little delayed, maybe because of all the takeout people.
