Second Story Books reviews
15Love the vibe here. Great selection of books, well organized, and the prices are very reasonable. The collector items were fantastic to browse through.
Really neat place with an extensive collection! I think the signage/organisation could be a bit more clear but overall a cool place to stop while you're in DC if you like books.
Very rude staff, first time at the store and the ADOS man brushed up against me without saying excuse me and did not tell me he was an emloyee. I was very startled since there are alot of ADOS homeless men around in the area. The cashier assumed that I should have known that he was an employee, the man had no social skills and for all I know he could have robed me!
This is a used bookstore for English majors and collectors. If that’s you, you’ll probably love this place. It didn’t feel like a place for casual readers. This store felt too prim and proper.
Love this gem! Eclectic collection of used books that could be browsed for hours. Prices are a little high compared to other used book stores but their books are in excellent condition and they do have to pay rent in Dupont Circle
Cool selection of antiques! Didn't look at those much, I was in search of a light weight Bible/old testament, and there was literally only one Bible I could find, in the $4 quicksale outside, so I left quickly, disappointed and did not view the cool antique books (though, they're cool enough just to gawk at the glass case!)
Huge selection of anything you would want. There are some great modern books as well as original classics. You could easily spend a day wandering the shelves and probably drop a good amount of money for a quality book. They have some very interesting curated collections. The workers are very knowledgeable.
It's a nice bookstore but hard to find street parking, you kind of need to pass it on foot. It's not nearly as big inside as I thought it would be and I had a hard time locating the Stephen King books I was after. When I asked, they directed me to a Sci-Fi end cap that had a couple, but that was it. Sometimes I wonder if these places sell all the best stuff online and leave the rest to in-person shopping. But the staff was nice and it's a great shop.
Great bookstore. I'm a book lover and I fell in love with this place the first time I visited here. All books are in good condition and always with reasonable price. The staff never bother you when you're selecting books from their huge stock. The only pity might be there are no CDs on sold now, which I know from other comment that they sold before.
Amazing book store. Rare and antique books for anyone interested in anything!
The only negative is the experience selling books there. The “appraiser” is unpleasant
I did not have a mask, and a staff member (a white woman with short dark hair) was nasty and sarcastic—“oh, we just have these masks for display purposes. ” It’s fine to have a mask policy, but the attitude was unnecessary and off-putting. Never coming back. One star for the memories.
Books are overpriced. They also sell extremely overpriced prints as if they were actually art pieces. I frequently buy old and vintage prints online and in auctions and I can tell you those prices are to fool the regular consumer. Also, they like old stuff so much that they still require masks inside the store. I just went inside because my wife wanted a book. Convinced her to leave after 2 minutes and bought the book online. Done with the face diaper.
Magical spot to spend an afternoon sifting through a vast collection of used books. Very unique place with a vintage charm.
A fairly good selection of books but TERRIBLE customer service, downright rude most of the time. A customer will ask for a book and there will be three or four employees behind the counter but only on rare occasions will anyone actually assist the customer find what they're looking for. And their banter is overwrought sophomoric drivel, and they never shut up!
Great second hand bookshop. They have a very large selection of titles, covering a wide range of topics. Very well organized shelves that make it easy to find what you're looking for. If you still don't, just ask the staff, they were very helpful. I particularly enjoyed the considerable amount of science and economics books, which had some titles outside of the usual suspects. 4/5 stars because the pricing is a bit higher from other physical and online stores.
