Songbyrd Music House reviews
18Saw Bears in Trees here this past week. Really nice venue and it felt very safe. I liked the intimate atmosphere and that they sell food (most venues just have a bar). I'd love to see another concert here again!
Kick butt venue! The staff is super friendly and accommodating. Plus they have the bestest shows!
A very nice venue. I'm glad I read their entry rules, and brought my vaccine card in order to enter. The only downside is the loud hand dryers outside the restrooms, you could hear them during the performance.
Small venue, friendly staff, and attention paid to getting the sound mastered well. Only criticism is not enough sound baffling. If you see an act you like, this is the venue to see them at.
Attended the Rexxlife Raj concert! Well put together event! I enjoyed my night here! No drama just clean FUN!
They tried to charge a full $18 cover for a live show when they knew the band only had 3 songs left.
I came here for a performance to see Charlie Monroe and saw the performer treated poorly by the staff. They lied on her crew and said they got physical and were smoking in the venue which is completely untrue. They even tried to say she couldn’t perform. They finally allowed her to and made her leave immediately after. I will never spend another dime in this place again. They treat artists poorly.
I wish I could give a negative star! This is the THE WORSE venue that I’ve ever attempted to go to. I have to say attempted, because, I couldn’t get in despite being at the door in a raging thunderstorm! Despite ongoing lightning with a thunder storm alert going off on everyone’s phone, security refused to let anyone in that wasn’t VIP. How are you even allowed to operate without a weather contingency? When we asked to see a manager, everyone skirted responsibility. Essentially nobody wanted to own up to the $ishshow. We were told we would receive a refund via the app used to buy the tickets (Let’s not even go into having to download an unknown app to get a QR code for tickets) only to be told by email that the tickets were non-refundable. You can only get a refund if the show is canceled, they even didn’t offer a credit. Not that I would use it, because I will never, EVER come to this trash venue again. I encourage others to avoid the headache as well. Note: this was for a Jade Novah concert. Side eye to you too sis. Play better venues.
Love this place. Cozy but never cramped. Sound quality beats most of the bigger venues. Everyone is super friendly (a rarity in DC). Easy to get to via Metro & plenty of on-street free parking.
On 8/4 this establishment had over 40 patrons standing outside while there was thunder & lightning. They did not provide safely for their customers. Some waited for over an hour in the rain. The tickets stayed doors would open at 6pm but we were not allowed in until 7: 30pm. Although they decided to let some in but only those with VIP tickets. Although the performance was great this establishment did not care for their customers. On this same day 2 people died due to a lightning strike. This was just horrible customer service.
I’ll admit I was a bigger fan of the original location in AdMo, which to me had a charming “house show” vibe. On the other hand, the new spot in Noma has a much more industrial & ‘cold’ vibe. That said, they’ve done a great job making it an enjoyable space for musicians and spectators alike. Can’t comment on food, but drink prices seem on par for the area. It’s also a pretty easy walk to/from Noma Metro & Union Market.
THE WORST EXPERIENCE LAST NIGHT! I've been following Jade Novah all year, so I was excited to see she'd be in DC performing. I called a girlfriend and made her tag along. We drove down from Baltimore and arrived at the venue at 6: 30pm, just as the rain began to fall. Everyone was huddled around the front door trying to stay as dry as possible. Some people didn't even have umbrellas, but that didn't matter; whether you had an umbrella or not, you got soaking WET! At 7: 05pm, they opened the doors to those who ONLY HAD MEET & GREET tickets and made the rest of us "common folk" continue to stand in the rain! One lady I was standing with called her friend inside who had the "special out the rain pass" to see what was happening on the inside. To her surprise, the artist, hadn't come to greet them yet and although first come, first serve seating was available, the Meet & Greet People grabbed up what was available. I was also told food was available at this venue, but never got the chance to see because who wants to stand and eat in wet clothes!? !? ! Not me! The fans grew impatient and started screaming in unison, "OPEN THE DOOR! " The bouncer could care less! The National Weather Alerts were going off on everyone's phones. By 7: 35pm, we had enough of this torture and asked for the manager. First, the manager was there, then he wasn't, then some guy (who worked there said) "you can just go the the app and request your refund since the manager isn't here. " I did that, received an email confirmation that it was received and that someone would get back to me. " At 8: 35pm, an email came in stating, "due to the fact the show was not cancelled, you cannot get a refund. " I'll NEVER patronize this business ever again!
New live music venue/bar in DC. They recently relocated here from a spot deeper in the city. This place is pretty sparse.an elevated stage in front of a big, flat, concrete floor. I'd guess room for maybe 150 peeps? Not much seating at all. Some limited pub type food offerings, and alcohol of course. Nice stage with decent lighting and sound. Not much parking as with most of DC.
Nice little live music venue. Went to see a place to bury strangers. Cool show, sound wasn't really dialed in, too much mids and highs but nothing some earplugs won't solve
Saw Ritt Momney here and had an amazing time! Fast line and good drink selection! This venue is just the right size to see your favorite small artists!
I saw the best set ever by Chris Farren. Amazing. Life changing. I sobbed.edit: new venue rocks.
Edit edit: new venue still good and food is good too
Band was great but the venue wasn't. The area around the place is pretty rough, even for DC. There is no seating at all. Just one small table. And for someone like me with severe back problems having to stand for an entire performance can be very painful. Only reason I stayed was cause it was a band that I really liked. Before we even got in we had to stand in the cold for over half an hour past the opening time cause they took forever to check everyone (and we were at the front of the line). Staff were fairly friendly and there was plenty of parking in the union market parking lot.
I loved going to this place that was located in Adams Morgan. Halfway between concert hall and cafeteria. They have not been able to maintain the essence in the new location. However, they still have a pretty interesting agenda of events, a fantastic atmosphere, and affordable prices. The Drag Queen's night is quite good, fun, and with many points of clever and spicy humor.
