Sushi Taro reviews
22They tried to keep things clean (Had a gadget that disinfect the menu). Some what spacious for the size of the restaurant. Relatively not that expensive for a Michelin star restaurant. The fish was really fresh and the selection was good. Service was ok (no complaints.)
Hands down the best sushi in the DC area for the price point. The tasting menu is also phenomenal! I have yet to introduce sushi taro to someone who was not blown away by it. This place is a must visit if you are in DC!
One of the best, if not the best, sushi restaurants in DC. The appetizers were excellent and the chutoro and uni sushi were very fresh. The rainbow roll was also very tasty. However, the best dish of the night was the duck udon - the broth was filled with umami flavor and the hint of duck added an enjoyable complexity. That udon broth is certainly to die for, not to mention good service and restaurant environment.
The servers are very accommodating and knowledgeable. It was our anniversary, and it’s our first time at Sushi Taro. We came all the way from Virginia Beach so, you know we did our research. Our waitress greeted and gave us rose and sake drink. She even helped out with the wagyu sukiyaki. It was marvelous, whether rare or well done. The best part of the meal. The sauce was packed with flavor and egg balanced out the flavors. The quality and texture of the soft shell tempura and grilled rainbow trout was on point. The green tea pudding was the best. To be honest, I’m still thinking about it. When you do come in the restaurant, just focus on the quality of the food. You’ll enjoy it more. We’re definitely back soon.
We were in the mood for some Sushi and did takeout from Sushi Taro. Ordering online was easy and there are many options available to order from.
Picking up the food was easy too - they have a tent outside the restaurant and food was ready for me to pickup when I got there.
Food was organized beautifully and I wanted to eat it ASAP. But I had to wait until I got back home and share the food with the family. We ordered the following and all the dishes were very good!
Shrimp Tempura Roll
Rainbow Roll
Seared salmon salad
Other sushi:
Toro, tuna, steelhead trout, madai, sweet shrimp, hamachi, salmon roe, blue crab, unagi, spicy tuna roll
For dessert we got the Hojicha pudding - this was so good that my wife wished we had ordered more of it!
Really awesome food experience and we can't wait to go back to Sushi Taro.
Hype did not live up to expectations. Coming from LA where incredible sushi is around every corner, I expected this place to be on par or much better. This felt like average sushi that was way overpriced and had very small portions. After spending near $100, I was still hungry. I wasn’t particularly impressed at all. Servers were very nice however but it was not an outstanding experience.
Attended for restaurant week. Quite the meal was delivered.unique presentations and interpretations of dishes. From aged sushi, ink dipped crab, to high end sashimi, this place delivered. Would recommend, even though prices are a little high.
This is a 2018 Michelin sushi place so I had high expectations. I thought the sushi was good but not memorable. I had ordered the Omakase, reasonably priced. I guess it's the tasting menu that's Michelin rated. Meh.
Oh man, this was my first Michelin Star experience and I was not disappointed. We did the tasting experience, our favorite would be the Fatty tuna and smoked salmon. Just let the food take you on a roller coaster. If I had to be picky, some of the sushi had a little bit too much wasabi but other than that it was great. The tasting experience was about 2 hours so plan accordingly.
Neat clean and well prepared food that comfortable to enjoy food. Make a reservation for Omakase dishes at Sushi bar or get ther early for happy hours. It's bit pricey.
Best Sushi place in the district. Definitely worth the try. If you don’t wanna spend too much, try their special lunch menu.
Food was good for DC. I am a spoiled person as I lived in Canada, and sushi is way better in Toronto. In Canadian standards, sushi was just ok. Service was definitely good. Waitress was kind.
Beautifully presented dishes with warm, heartfelt service and a knowledgeable staff. We'll be back!
We have been to this restaurant several times and every time we go, we have never been dissapointing with the food. Lobster sashimi is amazing as always is their sushi.
The decor is not ultra fancy but clean and moderately sohpisticated. There is a county parking garage near by within a block distance and it is not too long if a walk from dupont circle metro station.
Love this place!
Excellent raw fish quality, big selection on sake! It was a great experience and we’ll be back soon.
My review is not a revelation. There's a reason the only reaervation left for us was at 11: 30 on Friday morning, this sushi is so fresh I could have let it back into the ocean to live out its delicious golden years
I am not sure whether if their sushi is world class (this is coming from somebody who likes rainbow rolls. Yeah, right!), but pretty decent. I didn't like that they put me on the corner of the bar section, which is close to the entrance and restroom. Eggplants of Nasuno NIbitashi retained blue color, so it is apparent, they pay attention to details and cook properly.
Food quality is great. I’m giving one star because of the attitude given by the seating hostess. Lots of rude finger gestures. After I started speaking Japanese to my friend, her attitude changed because she’s Japanese and heard that I was going to leave a review about her. Service should not be like this. She’s an arrogant and ignorant person when it comes to service, and I don’t think her attitude fits in this restaurant. I’m embarrassed for her.
The best sushi I have ever eaten. The presentation was amazing, the staff friendly and very knowledgeable. We didn't have a reservation but they made room for us anyway. I highly recommend Sushi Taro
Great price for lunch. Ask for daily special. Highly recommend making reservations using Resy at least a few days in advance. It's a popular restaurant.
