Swann House, Washington DC

I rented the entire Swann House for the wedding party and close family members for my daughter's wedding and it was a simply great choice! I love old houses with great character and Swann House definitely offers that. Each room is unique and the common areas are comfortable. But what was most outstanding was the staff - Isabelle and Sasha in particular went so far beyond what I would have expected that by the end of out stay I felt like they were part of our family! Those who have commented on the condition of the house must not understand that an old house will never be perfect - it will always have its quirks and imperfections - that is what makes an old house unique and interesting. Our entire party of 22 people simply loved our stay at Swann House!

Loved our stay at this charming and unique spot! Innkeeper Sashi greeted us with "Welcome home! " and was so hospitable, accommodating, and full of great recommendations. The Regent is a perfect room for a romantic getaway. The price is actually quite reasonable for the location, amenities, and cool factor.

As you will see in the other reviews, this place isn't for everyone. If you want everything in your life to be standard, safe, and as-expected, you might be happier elsewhere. This place is for the artists, the romantics, the adventurers, the hippies, and the punks!

This B&B is very charming and the rooms were very nicely decorated. The breakfast they offer in the morning is delicious. Isabelle, the innkeeper, was very welcoming and helpful during our stay. We will absolutely come back and I highly recommend this B&B to friends and family.

Beautiful place, wonderful staff but a little ridiculous that the pool is closed for the season and it's the beginning of August and in the 90s outside

Beautiful house in a great location. Our bed was comfortable and the staff was very pleasant. We will be staying there again.

I stayed in the Serengeti Suite for 3 nights. The suite was not at all as pictured. The rooms were very tired. It is not street level but below the street level. There is no courtyard outside the room where you could sit. No furniture as pictured and it was not maintained at all. The plants were either overgrown or dead and it was littered with bird feathers and poo. Our breakfast was not at all as shown on the pictures. We only ate once during our stay as it was so disorganized and poorly prepared we didn't want to try it again. There is no afternoon tea either. 2 water bottles were provided initially but we were supposed to refill with their spring water which was out. Normally staff will assist you to your room to make sure all is well but we had no help at all. The location us great but I would not stay at this property again.

I wish I could give 0 starts. My friends and I were very excited to stay at the Swann House. My friends had come in from out of town and thought the place was very cute and I was excited to support a local business. However, on the day of my stay, they changed the room that I booked due to repairs, and none of the advertised amenities were available, and as I've tried to request a refund they've made various excuses about why I shouldn't get one. Had they been more amenable I would have considered giving it a second chance. But, when we arrived the place was deserted, and it's no wonder why their business is declining. I was incredibly disappointed with the service, the lack of consideration, and the blatant disrespect to our agreement.

Leslie who served us breakfast each day was amazing and a gem to the house. Friendly service with a great location to walk to bars and food, great biking to all the sites. Fav rooms are duomo, milano, green after touring. Very historic and charming. Thanks swann house

My husband and I live only 40 minutes from the Swann House but planned a weekend getaway from our usual schedule. Once we were settled in, it really felt like we were in a completely different world! The rooms are beautiful and very quiet. Every single detail has been well thought out and perfectly executed. Our breakfast was amazing and our conversations with Leslie were so enjoyable. She really made sure we had everything we needed and more. We hope to have many more visits at the Swann House!

They switch your room last minute and expect you to be fine with it. Substandard service for a substandard place.

Edit for Isabelle: Much as you would like to excuse your sloppy service on covid or a "last minute" booking (I booked the room before noon and was scheduled to arrive at 4 pm, not to mention that EVERY room was available so you are clearly not busy), your staff contactwd me three different times in the interim to arrange parking and give me the door code. Not one mention of the room being unavailable until we were already on our way. Even this would've been excusable in my book, it's not very uncommon for there to be poor communication with inexperienced management. What was NOT ok was your insufferable "not my problem" attitude over the phone when I called to ask why you had changed my room reservation without ANY explanation.

I'm sure you're well aware you are no one's first choice for a stay in the city. If you continue treating "last minute" customers (likely your primary clientele) this way, you'll soon be completely out of business

As mentioned by another reviewer, any one that has frequented Bed and Breakfasts before would not be impressed with this place. The outside is definitely charming, but that was the best part of it. I could go in about the awkward bed, or the person that was drilling into the wall in the next room over (I mean that literally. They were using power tools and we did not get a heads up.), the somewhat tacky furniture, having to lock up a gate every time we came in or left, a bland breakfast with very few options, a stereotypical wine and cheese hour.also bland.but what concerns me the most is when the employees say they arent happy there because the owner is very rarely seen and does not do anything to improve the quality of the establishment no matter how many negative reviews they receive! When an employee has to vent to guests because it is that bad and the employer refuses to listen, there is most certainly a serious problem. The only reason I did not give a 1 star review is solely because this wonderful staff member is such a hard worker and a seriously mistreated. She works as a mechanic, plumber, cook, house keeper, concierge, and front desk receptionist! She should be the real owner of this place, but luckily she informed me she has some job interviews coming up and I wish her the best of luck! She definitely deserves better than a mediocre wannabe bnb.

Absolutely beautiful! They have a wonderful staff, very helpful and informative. If looking for a really cool B&B while visiting DC.this would be a great choice. A+
