This was my second time at Tail Up Goat. First time was brunch, and this time was dinner. The 4 5 course menu came with 3 options that fulfilled an array of tastes and diets. I splurged on a caviar option to supplement the starters portion and was not disappointed!

I highly recommend this restaurant for either a special date or a celebration. The service is impeccable and both the menu and drinks are exceptional.

The food was good and the staff very friendly. But, something was missing. Food was not scrumptious. Just good. Plus: No cappuccino or expresso, just regular black coffee. Paper napkins. Plus the desserts were below average. Glad we tried it. But will not return.

She’s really good… I recommend going with another person and each choosing a different set of courses! That way you can share everything and maximize the tasting experience. Also take flash pictures so you can appreciate the presentation (after looking at my pictures again, this is a must!), as the restaurant is pretty dimly lit (in a good way).

A restaurant worth the Michelin star.
From the moment I stepped into the whole experience was AMAZING. We were a party of 2 and tried various food, wine, and desserts. Everything was delicious and a bit expensive, but I can understand why given how unique and incredible the food was.

Loud, crowded, and pretentious. Service was friendly and some dishes were excellent however others were disappointing. Considering the difficulties parking in the area, the rock concert loudness, and the hit-or-miss of the menu, am unlikely to return and give this place another shot.

An inventive menu with knowledgeable and friendly staff. Menu was five courses with each providing an interesting layering of flavors. Portions are small.but enough the satiate the average diner.if you enjoy large portions maybe grab a slice prior to dinner. Dinner was $95 per with wine pairings starting at $75+.

Yessss, yessss so good! And for a pretty reasonable price!

Went in for dinner and got a bunch of little plates and an entree to share. Definitely get the salt cod, the pate, the English pea sformati. In fact, order the pate twice - we did, lol. Give the eggs and ramps a pass - it was just aight. It's a take on tamago no gohan, but it needed salt? Soy sauce? More ramps? I mean, I wouldn't say no if it were offered for free but I'd rather try something else.

We ordered the steak entree and it was yum, especially with the salad and the green pepper corn. (Though we found that the steak was a little too gristly, we still ate all the meats because it was delicious.)

But enough about the gristle, let's talk about the pate. We found it so nice we ordered it twice. We ordered another pate as dessert.

The service was impeccable - attentive without being hover-y. And since we were there to celebrate our birthdays, and we were presented with little slices of orange and olive oil cake that was like the best kind of bread pudding in the world.

Also, please order the orange Julius ceasar - it is dangerously easy to keep drinking.

4.5 stars for all, i think
This is the course food so you have to take from snack to desserts.
It costs 95$/person. 22% service and tip recommended.
I came with 3 of my friends, we ordered one wine bottle and the total paid is 585$ not including tip
The meals are good excepting for snacks, it is too salty to me

The food is very tasty, presents well and the server had a good concept of how each dish was prepared. She also checked with the kitchen on a dietary restriction we had and came up with a good recommendation on what not to get that we had not expected. I didn't mind the 22% service fee, since I normally tip in the 20% range anyway. I did think that some of the dishes were overpriced, like $15 for a couple carrots, radishes, handful of spinach leaves and some dipping sauce. But the overall cost was in the range you would expect for a nice night out. The place is on several romantic restaurant lists, and it has a nice ambience, but it's a bit loud and many of the tables are not particularly private. My date said she could see why people would say it was romantic, but didn't think of it as a top ten romantic place. It is a nice place to eat, but didn't *pop* by DC standards. So many good restaurants here!

Oh, and there is almost no parking in this neighborhood. I didn't want to miss the reservation, so I ended up paying $33 to park nearby in a lot. Convenient, but overpriced parking. My date was worth it, YMMV! Hahaha

Gourmet portions and prices but not consistent in the flavors.

Great atmosphere, impeccable and attentive service - even when they made a mistake with the order our server didn't blink and fix it right away!

I enjoyed the Fluke Crudo, the Beef Tartare, and the English Pea Sformato.
The pork loin was OK and fatty, ramps and eggs and steak nothing special either.

Interesting and good chocolate tart (what you would expect from a Michelin star venue) - you gotta love olive oil as stated in the dish description!

Good Lanier place fire truck for the ones that appreciate bitter drinks

Appreciate digital menus to save some paper (now that COVID doesn't dictate such choice) but please make it easily readable on a mobile phone if you want us to get intrigued by the complexity and creativity of your dishes!

Went in with high expectations but left disappointed. We tried the salt cods, skirt steak, and rockfish but none of them had the greatest or memorable flavors and were kinda bland. I feel like there are better places in Adams Morgan nonetheless in all of DC for the Michelin Star recognition.

I went for a solo dinner and the staff could not have been sweeter. Everyone was so delightful, especially the bartender who helped me with a wine recommendation and even let me try a few.

Their food is always seasonal - anything with bread is a sure hit.

Tail Up Goat delivers adventurous dishes that are accessible, fun, and memorable. The simple - but thoughtful - service, and a great drinks program make it a go-to choice for great meals without white tablecloth pretense.

Tail Up Goat is a new favorite and a welcome addition to Adams Morgan. Delightful, surprising food. Exceptional, friendly, service. Beautiful atmosphere and a well curated collection of wines, beers, liquors. Excellent cocktails.

Located just off of Adams Mill in the new Adamo building, Tail Up Goat is tucked away just enough to feel separate from the loud hustle and bustle of the typical AdMo crowd. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with in a subtly island theme with lots of wood, rope, and a softly blue wall. It simultaneously feels chic and cozy. There's a good amount of bar seating.

The menu is focused, constantly changing, and extremely well executed. There's a lot of technique and a lot of creativity as well. They put a lot of thought and care into their food and it shows. Some recent examples: The rabbit sausage with marinated radicchio and fennel mustarda were perfect bites. The smoked rutabaga ravioli with basil mint pesto was a surprising, genius combination of flavors. This is not a small plates menu, but they are perfect for sharing. The breads and pastas are made in house. The menu is inviting, but also exciting for foodie-types.

The desserts were equally unique, familiar, and delicious. Try the budino! (pudding)

Equal attention goes to the drinks with a curated collection of bottles, a dozen Italian Amari, and an excellent cocktail program. Lots of delicious, non-alcoholic options as well.

I can't rave enough about the service. The hostess recognized us after our first visit and she went out of her way to make us feel at home. I'm excited to bring friends here and more so to become a regular.

So so so so yummy! My partner and I tried a variety of different foods and everything was excellent. The ambiance was great too. A bit expensive but I can understand why, given how unique and incredible the food was. I’d go back.

Had a fantastic dinner seated at the bar. The bartender walked us through the popular dishes and what we may like to order based on our tastes. Delicious Michelin star worthy food that doesn't break the bank.
