Talay Thai Restaurant reviews
16Walked in, the owner told me they were closed the seated other people afterwards while I was waiting for the rest of my group to show.
The food was very good and fresh. The food came very fast and the owner was very friendly! In addition the prices are low!
The place was very busy which is usually a good sign. All 3 pad Thai noodle entrees the noodles were very over cooked and bland. Spicy eggplant dish that my husband tried was very good. They auto charged 20% gratuity on 4 entrees, which was frustrating, because they didn’t say anywhere that they auto charge for 4 (typically for Parties of 6 or more) and they were still expecting a tip after that.
Horrible customer service. Dont waste ur time going to this place its not a tourist friendly specially if you bring your kids. Very rude attitude from an old men that works there, probably was the owner or some employee that doesn't like tourists with kids
No one was at the host stand when we came in, and it took a good 3 minutes before someone saw us, looked irritated that we were there, and then seated us. The place was slammed, and it seemed like they only had two waiters. I know that means they are stretched thin but I was still shocked when the waiter greeted us by saying "Hurry up and tell me what you want" white motioning with his head to pick up the pace. When the food did come, they got my girlfriends order wrong. We didn't bother saying anything as we had comments soon and wanted to make good time. The padthai was decent but not worth waiting for so long and dealing with bad service.
Their tom yum soup is really great, the penang curry is nice as well but not as balanced in flavors as Thai food normally is. We asked them to make the curry more spicy which made it a bit better. Papaja salad is way too salt and not nice at all
This place has great food. It's pretty authentic and located close to Capitol Hill. They have excellent happy hour specials and also allow for take-out ordering in advance throug their website. Probably one of the best restaurants near the House office buildings.
Have ordered red curry and green curry! So far this is the best place near Navy Yard. Highly recommend.
Good local restaurant. Waiter apologized for service. I thought it was good service considering he served the entire restaurant by himself and it was almost full. Would definitely return.
The food is excellent. I got spiciness level 4 and was not disappointed. The service is great as well, our server was friendly and quick.
Great food and great service. Maybe can use some help with servers. Everything tasted great except the calamari.
Reasonably priced. The Panang curry I got was delicious! I think this place seemed very authentic. The decor was quaint, and the food came out relatively fast. We happened upon it after getting off the metro, and I enjoyed our experience altogether.
I got the Pad Peanut Sauce where you can pick your own meat and chicken was recommended. It. Was. Amazing. I pride myself on making a pretty good peanut sauce for tofu my family all loves but this is definitely better. I wish I was a good enough cook to figure out what they did different but I will have to be content knowing I can come back and have the dish again anytime.
Decent Thai food. Flavors are partially there. Home run on Pad Thai. Coconut milk dishes could use additional lemon grass flavoring
Awesome Thai food with a great patio area. The food was very tasty and patio spot was great for dining outside. Staff was very friendly, and the street the restaurant is on is not crazy busy, and has big tress that provide great shade. Definitely recommend checking this spot out. Full bar too!
