Taqueria Habanero, Washington DC

Pretty good! Loved the aesthetic, loved the service and loved the food. Our waitress constantly checked on us and food was definitely authentic - can confirm. The heat lamp we were using outside to stay warm had an issue and the owner went out of his way to fix it for us. Margs were just strong enough too! Definitely will be back in the future or during the summer once it's warmer. Money well spent and always happy to support a great local restaurant!

So good! We ordered takeout (again) and decided on this restaurant. I’m not sure why it only has a 4.5 rating on here! It was the best quesadilla we’ve ever eaten and the birria tacos are mouth watering. I know I’m going to be craving them all the time. I highly recommend! Will be ordering from here again (:

Horrible customer service from the Manager. Would not even greet nicely after asking how he was doing! I would never waste my money on a place that don’t even care about welcoming people!

I fell in love with this place since the first time i had it! The tacos are delicious let’s not even talk about there birrias.they are banging! I so recommend this place

Found this restaurant through Yelp and decided to give it a try. Not only is it in an amazing neighborhood, with awesome cultural restaurants and stores, but the food is absolutely amazing. We got the birria tacos, carnitas taco, al pastor taco and Grasshopper taco. The birria tacos were perfect and loaded with cheese. The dipping sauce was absolutely perfect to go with the tacos. The carnitas taco was spectacular. Greasy and perfectly balanced. The al pastor was just the right blend of sweet and spices and the Grasshopper taco was way better than I expected. It didn't taste like bugs and in fact tasted like dried chiles. Their beans and rice are delicious as well. Everything we tried was delicious. Would recommend this food to everyone.

Lovely Mexican restaurant with authentic dishes that are budget friendly! Our waiter was helpful and checked on us quite often. I appreciated how they made sure to follow and explain covid guidelines to keep all customers and staff safe.

Fun Mexican restaurant with quaint vibes. Food was very good, space was tight (this was pre-COVID). Service was a little slow but we didn't mind too much. Very busy on a Friday night. Would give it 5-stars if they fixed up the interior just a little bit (new tables & chairs, etc) and made service a little faster! Overall, we really enjoyed our meal!

This place is amazing! We came all the way from Manassas, VA to try after the Washington post posted about it and it’s so worth it, the server Alex was so pleasant, the whole staff really helpful and food came so fast, they had no spots inside but still accommodate us on the outside, food delicious and I would give 10 stars if possible! Try their tacos bisteca! So worth it ️

Yo i just can't get enough of this place. Third time here and I've still yet to be disappointed by anything. Their drinks are on effing point. The bartender is one helluva master mixer and their tacos.oooo the tacos! I wish I could do more to spread the word as to how good this place really is. Rest assured I'll be back for more.

Taqueria Habanero has the best brunch food in Washington DC hands-down no competition. I have been coming here for years and the quality, staff, and atmosphere have always been incredible.

The tacos are made with simple fresh ingredients and the chilaquiles (both rojo and verde) are to die for. The salsas are all made in-house and have a depth of flavor you simply cannot get from a jar.

Margaritas are delicious and strong. Give the habanero margarita a try, in my opinion it is the best one on the menu as long as you can handle the heat.

One of the best things about Taqueria Habanero is the quality and speed of the service. No matter how busy it is you can go in and expect to be served and eating within 15 minutes. Wait staff is always very friendly and does whatever they can to improve your stay.

Atmosphere is very cozy and comfortable. There are no TVs or loud music playing and it is not overly bright inside (thought they do have a patio out front in the summer) A perfect place to spend a Sunday morning hanging out with friends and eating delicious food. That’s why I keep going back.

POSTSCRIPT:
My only real quip with Taqueria Habanero is I probably won’t order the sangria again after paying $32 for the equivalent of 2.5 glasses worth. I mentioned it to our waitress and she was very understanding and went to bat for us with the kitchen staff regarding the issue. Later on someone from the kitchen came out and expressed his apologies (he gave some excuse about the shape of the glasses (?) but honestly who hasn’t covered their own tail once or twice) and gave us two additional glasses for our trouble. I appreciate him making it right.

This honestly has to be the most GHETTO Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. The customer service here is horrible and the waiters here are rude and have horrible customer service. Not only that, but the food tastes like plaster. I have never had waiters look at you and laugh. Complete Trash
