Tatte Bakery & Cafe reviews
20This is food from the levant (PALESTINE, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon) stop stealing everything especially when you make it worse
Friendly service, we ate in and they brought the lunch quickly. I got the lamb meatball pita and they didn’t skimp on the meat and the pita tastes really fresh. Mom had an avocado egg croissant which was pretty messy but worth it. The place was pretty clean and a quiet place to work or chat over coffee.
Tatte used to be good but it’s quality has steeply declined in the past year. The pastries are dry and taste very average. The hot coffee is always served lukewarm and is basically tasteless. There’s plenty of other good cafe options in the area.
I normally don’t inhale my food, but the flatbread I got was so amazing I couldn’t help myself. (I got the mushroom, caramelized onion, and potato; my fiancé got the caprese flatbread.) Café was busy but still relatively quiet and service was quick
This was my first time at this cafe. It was very impressive and I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was a bit overwhelmed and out of nowhere a tall gentleman named Yanik asked if he could assist. He helped my friend and I navigate the menu and was a super cool dude. He was attentive and really made the experience pleasant. Would definitely come back.
The Tate Bakery in Washington, D. C.is a true gem deserving of a perfect five-star rating! From the moment you step inside, the delightful aroma of freshly baked goods envelops you. The selection of pastries, bread, and cakes is nothing short of mouthwatering. Each bite is a burst of flavor and perfection. The cozy ambiance and friendly staff make it a delightful place to savor your treats. Whether it's a morning croissant or an afternoon indulgence, Tate Bakery is the go-to spot for pastry lovers in the nation's capital. Don't miss the chance to experience their delicious creations!
Very cute coffee shop with yummy food and great service. Sydney helped me this morning and really made my day with her infectious kind energy. Instructions in the bathroom a little confusing (see photo). If not in the toilet, where does the poo go?
Great, stylish bistro. I can't get enough of the egg biscuit sandwich. Great coffee drinks. The pastries are excellent. The croissants are wicked good. All the staff are friendly and prompt. The barista can struggle to keep up with dine-in, walk-in, online orders during peak times. But overall a well run location.
Great cafe addition to 14th street. At times packed, sometimes even dogs outnumber people. I wish they had used reusable cups.
Great food, staff and atmosphere! Had a salmon sandwich that was phenomenal. The honey coffee was alright but not wow,
Do not recommend ordering from here on Caviar. I received the wrong item (cookie instead of a ham and cheese croissant) and Caviar will not reimburse you for the redelivery, just for the item you purchased. If you want the food you actually ordered, you will need to spend another $12 on delivery and service fees to get it. Recommend ordering from restaurants that are more careful about which food they are putting into the bag and that the food matches the receipt that is stapled to that bag.
Food for the price is not great. I ordered a lamb plate for $14 and got 3 tiny pieces of lamb, a bunch of pita, and hummus. The food is not great value. Probably the best thing on the menu is the shakshuka, but this is also mostly tomato sauce and bread.
They have healthy options on the menu. Fridays, Saturday and Sunday, they have brunch a day long. Food was amazing
First, I hit print receipt at the register but the cashier just tossed all receipts in the trash. Then I couldn’t find an empty table that was clean so I sat down with my number and coffee at a dirty one. Nobody came to clean it. I went to get sugar for my coffee but when coming back they had taken my number and other people had taken my table.
So I got my number back and sat at a different table which was actually a little cleaner but not wiped down either.
Then finally my scrambled eggs with prosciutto came. The eggs were just dumped on the bread and the prosciutto literally dumbed on the plate.
The eggs were almost cold and the bread and eggs were very dry. I went to the server to ask for butter but she sent me to the cashier (!). So I got my butter and finished my breakfast.
Not worth the $16. Too bad I had tipped the cashier…
I love the spot for coffee and pastries (breakfast sandwich was amazing, too) but the service, by the women specifically, is awful! They are so rude and unwelcoming. The men who worked there were lovely, but the behavior from the female employees definitely deters me from wanting to go back.
I have spent $558.39 at this location since 06/23/2023 (1 month and 10 days). Today, the staff at this location told me to go to another Tatte location and to not come back because they did not get my take out order right and couldn't clearly explain to me what my expectations should be. And I got scoffed at for coming in to have my order corrected. The food is great and I like Tatte's concept. But what I got from the staff today was shocking. I have never come across something like this in my life, and I am not a young guy.
I will take them up on their suggestion and not spend another dime at Tatte. There are too many other great restaurants in the neighborhood with hard working proprietors and their staffs to need to come back to a place that doesn't appreciate a customer.
Everything we tried here was delicious. I got the heirloom tomato tartine, which was a great balance of freshness from the tomato's, seasonings and herbiness from the basil pesto, texture and complimentary flavors from the cheese all on a crunchy delicious sourdough toast base. It was light but filling. My sister got the lamb kebab plate and finished it very quickly. The meat was tender, juicy and tasty, the pita like bread was soft and pillowy with good chew, the baba ganoush was yummy, and all the other sides were great complimentary flavors and textures to help refresh the palate after the lamb.
There was a side of flatbread that was also great, the crunch and chewiness of the bread was amazing. We also got the mint lemon tart and raspberry cheese cup. The raspberry cup was like a very airy cheesecake and the mint lemon tart did not have any discernable mint taste but was still a refreshing and great lemon tart. The tart base was crunchy and it was topped with a marshmallow spread like topping which helped mellow the tartness of the lemon.
Not pictured is the croque madame, shakshuka, and pear tart we purchased the day before.
The croque madame is a glorified ham, cheese and egg croissant sandwich, but it does not stop it from being a high quality sandwich meal. The shakshuka was actually much more flavorful than I expected and I actually wished there was less feta cheese in it, because I felt there was too much saltiness. The pear tart was my absolute favorite. The epitome of a delicious tart crust with a stable filling that is not too sweet but still retains a slight fruity flavor, topped with a half cooked pear that's texture was meltingly easy to consume.
I usually never write reviews but I need to because of the experience I just had:
While I was ordering my coffee this morning in line, a woman near the register accidentally had piping hot coffee spilled on her arm (it was an accident, and everyone besides the manager was sort of in shock and didn’t know how to help). The manager happened to be ringing me up this morning, and he immediately and calmly rushed to the back and got a bottle of spray for burns- the worker involved with the accident held the woman’s other hand, and after the spray was administered, the woman seemed to be totally fine. The manager even gave the spray bottle to her to keep. I’m not sure what else happened after that, but I was really touched by the care that both the manager and worker showed that customer.
The manager turned back to the register and then profusely apologized to me (!) for having to wait, but I am honestly so glad to have witnessed that act of kindness this morning.
On top of that, I love Tatte’s coffee and sandwiches, especially the salmon sandwich.
Overall so happy that this location has opened in my neighborhood, I’m already a regular and will continue to be!
Great food and service but they overuse the AC so much that you are freezing even if you're wearing a sweater (while outside is 90+ Fahrenheit). It was so cold that we decided to sit outside despite the mosquitos and heat. Businesses need to make a change and review their AC use policies to lower it to a reasonable use. This is not just a matter of comfort but also limiting energy use given the climate crisis. Take some responsibility please!
I love love a great coffee spot and this was top tier! They have a slew of pastries and the coffee was superb.
The staff was very welcoming and sweet. I was recommended to try the Honey Halva Latte and it was SUPERB I didn’t have to add anything to it. It was smooth and silky and just enough sweet. Definitely give it a try. My friend had the double espresso and she described it as the smoothest espresso she had ever drunk.
We sat outside but there is plenty of seating inside and very clean and refreshing.
10 out of 10 recommend Grab a cup!
